Some team is due a hiding from us!

Blimey - the only thing associated with hiding relating to Saints is our midfield!

As for giving anyone a good hiding - I think the word you are looking for is verbal bashing. We talk a very good game - just can't seem to words into actions!

AP talks the talk - but he can't get the players walkin the walk!

Dream on Andy D - it's going to be long time before we take anyone to the cleaners, unless it's to collect that designer suit!!

LOL - I just have a good feeling bout Hammond - can't believe how long it's taken the managers of Saints this long to realise Wotton is past it!

From what i've seen so far this season it's us that are due a hiding.

I was up at Huddersfield and it could quite easily have been 6-1.

Kelvin Davis is the only reason we haven't been humiliated.

Thinking the same and we were lucky at Swindon is was not more . Kelvin kept the score down in the last two game. Maybe kettle and black springs to mind

New owners, new management, new players, same old results. I thought we would win a few in the CCC and give someone a hiding but it didn't happen and now hope we start doing it soon in league 1. I know its a long way to go but without the minus 10 we would still be in the bottom 3.

I think AP still needs another centre back, central midfielder to partner Hammond and 2 strikers if Rasiak and/or Saga goes by the end of the month. Then I think we have a fighting chance of progressing well in this league. One thing seems to be apparant, it has been a wake up call to the existing players that they need to up their game if they want to get the three points.

As fans we have to do our bit and keep positively supporting the team. Hopefully this will rub off on the players and they will play with a lot more confidence.

Knowing Saints we will click in the FA cup and wallop Spurs 5-0.

In the meantime, 3 points Saturday are needed..A must 3 points, if you will

OSM, I believe that your therapist has spoken about this issue before.

You remember, what happens every time we build ourselves up to having a must-win game?

How you get all tense and excited in the build-up, you start to alter your life plans to ensure you are in contact with events on the pitch?

How the subsequent inevitable outcome impacts on the pleasure centres in the brain

spoiling the next 4 days of your life until the cycle begins again..

So, just remember, instead of labelling an upcoming sporting event involving Saints a "must-win" game, have a nice fresh pint of real ale, cup of tea or chase the wife around and say to yourself. We'll never beat that lot this weekend, so no point worrying about it...

(Actually, joking apart, when DID we last win a must win game? - Sheffield Utd? but then during THAT season, how many did we actually win!?)

And I think ity could all start on Saturday ;-)

Play offs will do for me this year!

You're either drunk, mad or deluded. We won't get anywhere near the playoffs this year. We will do very well to get in the top half of the table. I would settle now for finnishing the season one place above the relegation zone.

Déjà vu all over again. This was said quite a few times last season.

I'll take a long succession of narrow 1-0s - much better proof that we have the staying power that's been clearly absent ever since the first relegation.

I don't think anybody believed we would get anywhere near the playoffs last season, with the management structure and team we were left with.

trousers is the resident expert on this, but I distinctly recall a very long prediction thread - and a play-off place was certainly suggested by a quite few. Remember, there were a couple of blazing performances by the kids last year that raised the hope - as good results tend to do - that 'total football' would sweep us up towards the top.

We could be a much better team if we just played two wide men, packing the centre of the field is destroying us. It just stops us from any effective attacking and leaves us vulnerable down the flanks.

It is so frustrating, Lallana's positional play is a major cause of our problems. Wotton giving the ball away plus the lack of wide players mean we never get runners out of midfield, reinforcing the strikers to get on the end of crosses from the byeline.

It is so easily fixed.

Would be happy with similar performances to 2002-2003 season when we kept it tight at the back & our CF just kept on nicking goals in the league

Although big scores seem to come in strange games for Saints remember 96 playing a supposed to be good boro side & winning 4-0 which burst their bubble as they went down plus both manure games in 96

  • 2 weeks later...

Got a feeling that hiding could be handed out this saturday. With them having a new manager and losing those players plus losing the last 3 in a row i can see a potential mauling happening. Sometimes you get a new manager bounce, but having Jaidi now in the squad we should see the players bounce right off him as he is a brick wall....
