Bailey Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 What is the general consensus on here with regards to Rasiak and Saganowski? Do you want them to go as neither of them want to be here? Do you hope that nobody comes in for them so they remain at Saints? Or how about Pardew forcing them to stay by rejecting any bids that are forthcoming? Personally, I want both of them to go. Don't get me wrong, if they are fit and motivated, then they would run riot in this division, but it's not good having players at the club who see their long-term future elsewhere. I'd much rather we got rid sooner rather than later and replaced them with a couple of younger players who are committed to the cause and want to be here. L1Minus10 Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Boot Rasiak. there is no way he can play with Lambert so get rid. I'd keep Saga. i fear that they thay will both leave on August 31st and we'll be struggling to get a replacement.
krissyboy31 Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 If they wanted to stay and were 100% committed then I'd keep them but if, as it seems, they want away, then get them out ASAP and use the money saved to buy a decent replacement. Dannyboy_Saint Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 If they are both prepared to put in the effort and play as well as they can (even if it is to get a move later on) then im all for both of them staying, especially as this close to the end of the window its unlikely we'll be able to get able replacements. BUT, if they aren't prepared to put in the effort then get rid ASAP as they'll only drag down the team spirt and morale of the rest of the squad. Saint_Si Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 I'd really love to keep both as they could run riot in this division. But they have to get the mindset right. Maybe if they're still here after the transfer window shuts they'll give it a lash as both still have a lot to prove.
saints_is_the_south Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 If we cant ship them out then both should be playing. hamster Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 On other forums there are probably fans enthusing at the prospect of them both joining their team. Strange thing 'motivation', I understand that they lack it now so I would rather we let them both go as soon as, otherwise it could upset the fine balance of our new developing squad. Like everything they have done for us, but 'new broom' and all hat...
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 Give Saganowski whatever he wants (within reason), and tell him he's priceless, tell Rasiak he's free to look at other clubs but when the window closes, he's ours and if his effort sucks he wont even make the bench and he'll be sold to weymouth in january!!! Minsk Posted 21 August, 2009 Share Posted 21 August, 2009 As it stands at the moment, I don't give a hoot if either of them go - so long as we replace with (at least one player) who will totally compliment Lambert (i.e. a grafter with pace who is also a proven goal scorer). HAving said that, I honestly do feel that if Saga is here after the window shuts he will have to play out of skin to retain his Poland place (and possibly to attract attention in January? but wouldn't care as to the reason, so long as he is doing the business for us). I don't think a Rasiak/Lambert combo will be very successful, as it will lack movement and pace - but should Lambert have to miss any matches it would be great to have someone like Rasiak to call upon as his replacement. I doubt Greg wants to play second fiddle though, so byeee.......

Nineteen Canteen Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Get rid both epitomise what has been wrong at this club..they dont care.... Agree 100% with that and they are both in the same bracket as Skacel. Trouble is we are probably not going to be able to offload them because of their wages and that in turn is bound to have an impact on how many more new players we can recruit. CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 As a matter of principle any player who 'wants away' should be accommodated as soon as humanly possible IMO - it's a privilege to play for this club not a burden . I've no doubt both would fulfill their contracts and turn out for us if required but frankly neither player is anywhere near to being so good as to be indispensable . An objective appraisal of the record will show that Saganowski's goal tally for this club is pretty dismal in all honesty and the 2009 Rasiak looks like a 12 goal a season man to me . Any transfer fees achieved and the (substantial) wages saved can be used to sign another proven 'Lambert' type striker who actually wants to play for us . eurosaint Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 I am somehow reminded of the old saying : "If he was half as good as he thinks he is, he would be twice as good as he actually is" ! Trouble is we are probably not going to be able to offload them because of their wages and that in turn is bound to have an impact on how many more new players we can recruit. An alternative strategy would be to locate a Bosman striker or unearth a "gem" that costs us nothing, and use the savings on any fee to pay off part of Saga (or Rasiak's) wages to allow them to be gone. Of course, finding those takes time, but I believe that if a players' contract is cancelled by mutual consent, they then become a free agent and can sign for who they like outside the window?? Saint 76er Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Report on 606 today claims media sources and says Saga off to Leicester this weekend. Says Pardew wanted Oakley in p/ex but Pearson wouldn't be in it, then AP wanted another player but Leicester valued him more than Saga. AP then reported as saying Saga deal would go ahead anyway as already agreed (been working on it for last week) but that he may revisit the possible signing of other player later in the window. Guess of other player is Max Gradel or Paul Dickov. Gradel was rumoured for us a few weeks ago as I recall and is reputed to be a speedy winger as per Nathan Dyer (but probably doesn't steal things ). Am only reporting from 606 which is not normally reliable, although this poster does have some previous form from his "media sources". We shall see... Saint_Jonny Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Rasiak, lets be honest, should be the BEST striker in the leauge, hands down, no doubt about it. If we let him run free in every game, make no doubt about it, he'd be top scorer. Not lambert or anyone else, it'd be raz. ChrisPY Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Up to the players if they stay IMO. If they want to stay they can both offer us something but if they want to leave they can. VectisSaint Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 Contrary to what I've always thought in the past, Rasiak looks much more interested in playing than Saga, and genuinely seems to be part of the team. Saga just looks disinterested, overweight and lazy. As neither of them are playing regularly it may be that one will still be here come 1st September, and on present form I would rather it was Rasiak. Swap Saga for Dickov and that might be a good move. NP will get more out of Saga at the top of CCC than AP will in L1.

dellgirl Posted 22 August, 2009 Share Posted 22 August, 2009 You are very hard on Saga..I spoke to him at the end of last season and the only thing that was upsetting him was the fact he was not being played because Wottes' favourite McGoldrick was starting every time.
