***Big Ron Davies Update***

TijuanaTim has asked for this to be posted here, as he can't post at the moment.

News is not good from New Mexico, however this time it concerns bad health news not about Ron, but about his wife Chris.

Chris Davies has been a fantastic resource as well as wife to Ron through these difficult times. After we directed her what to do to assure that Ron got the best surgery and from the best orthopedic surgeon and at minimal cost. She diligently did everything required to make sure it all happened and also at a fraction of the cost you can pay out here. She telephoned and sat on hold for hours, she stood in line and knocked down administrators doors to get this taken care of.

Now she finds herself in dire straights and Big Ron is distraught. Chris was taken into emergency two weeks ago and has been there deteriorating since. She is suffering from what seems like a partial renal failure and the prospects are very grim, I lost my sister the same way in her 30s and remember the circumstances. I have just spoken at length with Ron who tells me she is not responding to any treatment now, she is in and out of consciousness and even lucidity.

Ron thought he was going to lose her last night and it seems that only a miracle will turn this situation around. Ron always asks me about his friends (what he calls the fans) and how the Saints are doing.

Ron was every bit as vital to our first spell and initial survival in the top div as MLT was more recently. He scored four goals in games at Old Trafford not long after they were crowned European champs and also four against Chelsea and Villa...what would he be worth today??

Two things, someone please cut 'n' paste this update and I'll ensure Ron gets any of your positive feed back. Please remember that Ron has to maintain realistic expectations, he needs to feel our love, especially for all the joy he has given so many of us.

Just in case anyone has forgotten or hasn't had the opportunity to see the greatest ever heading centre forward...here y'go (below). Sincere thanks everyone for your thoughts, I will print/send and Ron will read them all and believe me they need all the love and encouragement from you their 'friends' they can get right now.

Respect.

Just got off the phone with Ron, he is a little more upbeat today and Chris has showed a slight improvement, he really appreciates all the good will. The doctors are encouraging Chris to try and eat and to show more fight.

Ron is by himself at night so after hearing what is happening I then steer the subject towards happier times for him. He reminisced about the old days, singing the praises of some old teammates. He loved playing with Chivers, thought Sydy was unstoppable on his day and also told me John had the same right boot his whole career ;-). Ron said that Brian O'Neill is the best player he ever saw in muddy conditions. He rated Leeds as easily the best opponent.

Funny thing, Big Ron said that between Ted Bates, Ian St John and Tommy Docherty there was no strategy or tactics, just relying on the players being in the right positions and knowing what to do???? Can you imagine that today? He also said he always thought the World of Gabriel, Fisher and Stokes. Saints fans ain't his 'fans', they are his 'friends'.

so many memories of watching Ron play.

Especially the season that he single-handedly destroyed a " soon-to-be-relegated " Aston Villa side at The Dell. Ron scored FOUR (two headers, two with his feet) ..hit the bar and had another disallowed.

We forget how good his ground skills were, as when he waltzed through the Villa defence and slotted home from an almost impossible angle. Great stuff !

Good luck Ron... we'll pray for Chris' prompt recovery.
