benjii Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 He's reminded me of little Marian (although obviously not as good) tonight. Seems pretty happy to cut in and use either foot. Nice.

dune Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Connelly oozes quality at this level. In fact our whole team would cope quite well in the Championship. Compare this to last season when we would have struggled in the Blue Square and it's amazing how far we've come.

Nice. Scary ... I was thinking the same myself. It's been a fair while since we've had an attacker who has a great footballing brain and can cut inside with ease and score from anywhere inside or outside the box. Lets hope that's where the similarities end bearing in mind The Little Lats injury record  What a player though. Skill in abundance. Well done AP. Yeah, I thought he made the wrong decision a few times but that is probably down to the lack of match "sharpness". The main thing that reminded me was that I wasn't sure if he was right or left footed. I'm still not sure if Marian was left footed or right footed! Arizona Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 Absolute class. Nuff said. It's getting boring now having all these top quality players playing so well. Davis - class Harding - class Trottman - class Jaidi - class Lambert - class Connelly - class Antonio - class Even Wayne Thomas and Bart are getting in on the action. It's boring I tells ye'. Bring back Jermaine Wright.
S-Clarke Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 He's such a clever player, always on the move looking for bits of space. His touch is too good for L1, you can see that. If he can get really fit and stay fit with a run of games, he can hit 20-30 goals easily.

Bring back Jermaine Wright. Notice all but one of the above was brought in by Pardew. This makes me look forward to the January transfer window even more. We finally have a manager who has the finances to bring in the players that are better than what we already have. Whenever it happens, I'm not a bit concerned with promotion to the CCC as long as the infrastructure stays as it is - if we go up, we could be Swansea-esque and look for that succesive promotion. A bit ahead of myself perhaps, but you can't blame Saints fans for enjoying the recent developments. The noughties have been predominantly poor for us - bring on the teens. hamster Posted 11 November, 2009 Share Posted 11 November, 2009 (edited) .....makes me look forward to the January transfer window even more..... On Solent AP said that January is THE crucial month, I quote "come January this squad.......faces it's tough test". He was even talking positively about the FA Cup. He said that he views this competition as his biggest priority. COYR's. Good bunch of Charlton fans too. Fair play to them, best behaved visitors this season. They've been through so much **** in recent years those that followed their team tonight are just like us, 'football supporters'. Wish I could say the same for those two idiots at the front of Block 4 tonight that were acting like complete thugs. Threatening little nippers. Cowards. I tell you what if you are reading this. If you behave like that whilst sat in front of me ever again, I will tell you to your face to sit down and shut up. Why the **** would a Saints fan want to call another Saints fan a '****' and threaten to 'break your ****ing arms'? Maybe you were visiting Block 4 for the first time. Perhaps you normally sit in an area safe within your little 'gang'. Maybe someone should have told you that the front ten rows of Block 4 is where the visually impaired Saints fans sit. It has a direct loop radio syatem and any Saints supporter in that area can get a free lend of a single channel raio and a pair of headphones. My friend is partially sighted, he is as good as blind. Great mate of mine, probably the funniest person I know. Understandably, he (as do probabky all the blind people in them seats) genuinely were scared tonight when you were jumping acroos the seats to threaten that yound lad tonight. Could you not sense that the people around you froze at that moment that you screamd at the top of your voice "Oi ****". I don't often use swear words to describe people, but in your case I am willing to make an exception. You 'mate' are a little ****ing ******. You owe my friend an apology. If you know these two lads, please tell them from me on behalf of all decent Saints fans to stay away from Block 4. Thank you for laying on the entertainment tonight. Have you considered a career at Jongleurs? Oh!!! Edited 11 November, 2009 by hamster

Arizona Posted 12 November, 2009 Share Posted 12 November, 2009 Hammond - class (therefore no need for Jermaine Wright!!!). Ah forgot Hammond. And Lallana We don't need Wright for the team, just so we have something to argue about. All the first team players are top quality and there on merit. We have a stable board with the finances to back the team and the patience to let things happen. I've never been this bored. alpine has a Mr Happy avatar, that's how desperate things have gotten. By the way, for those who are interested, from this December Marian has joined his former manager in club and country Starkovs for Skonto Riga as an assistant manager together with former Rovers player Astafjevs (European most capped player of all times). VectisSaint Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 Ah............ He is Irish Actually no he's English, born in Willesden, North London, so actually more English than me. I guess one of his parents was irish so he qualifies to play for the Republic. So actually he's the Anglo Irish Latvian Michael Owen. Of course Owen may have been born in England, just, but went to school in Wales where he first attracted the attention of football scouts. Crazy world international sport these days. Bailey Posted 17 December, 2009 Share Posted 17 December, 2009 The difference being that C & L can actually play together. My original comment wasn't a criticism by the way, but Lambert and Connolly just aren't as good as Beattie and Phillips, although they're arguably the best strike force in this division. With regards to your comment, I thought Beattie and Phillips were quite good together!

Not looking for negatives, but if Trotman didn't have Jaidi, and Antonio didn;t have a strong midfield next to them , they would be exposed very quickly.
