S-Clarke Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Underwhelming. quite a good draw IMO. we should win, into the 4th round...and not many L1 clubs manage that.

Minty Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Rotherham would be a tough test, they are in good form in the league and playing confidently. Luton were well up for it yesterday, got a good draw, and did to Rotherham, what they might potentially do to us if they get the job done. Should progress, but not a tie to be taken for granted by any means.

John Boy Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 We have been knocked out of the cup by Rotherham in recent years so no easy game on their current form and then Luton are a bit of a wounded animal after the crap cards they were dealt last season, so a bit of a double Banana skin. MongoNeil Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 I hope Leeds make it through to play Man Utd, would quite like to see Leeds get a tonking at Old Trafford.
Kingsland Nick Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Hope it's Rotherham, as I wouldn't want to run the risk of losing to a non-league team.
Fan The Flames Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 We're though. Who do you want in the 4th round, I want Staines or Aldershot away.
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 We SHOULD be marching into the 4th round, I've got to be honest, ITV can draw us out against lower league opposition from now until the final as far as I'm concerned. I don't see us getting passed the 5th round, but if the draw continues to be nice to us...
Saintjersey Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 IF we get through this round, hopefully a poor championship team at home next round please.
corsacar saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 If Luton get through perhaps we can take another look at Tom Craddock. If it is Rotherham, we owe them for our shocking performances against them at - The Don Valley Stadium in 2007, and Millmoor in 2001/2002.
thefuriousb Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 I am pleased with that draw as i am not around for that match. I would have been miffed had we drawn one of the big 4 at St Mary's
SuperSAINT Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Good draw. I just wanted a home-draw. I'm guessing we'll get Rotheram, and they boast the top scorer of League 2, in Adam Le Fondre. Tricky, but winnable game.
Block 5 Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 At home to dross. Great draw. Roll on round 4. (Unless TDD thinks we shouldn't bother).
Tokyo-Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 meh.. as the ball were being drawn i thought we were on for man u or liverpool so did i. There were about 9 balls left after saints got pulled out, those 2 were still there. I'm pleased we got rotherham or luton though
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 if we win 3rd round game then even better chance of being drawn against a prem or champ tea next time round. good draw all in all imo.
RedAndWhite91 Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 First heard it and I thought it was hardly awe-inspiring. Thinking about it, it should be a win, and so we'd go into the fourth round. Worst case scenario then would be getting a mid-table boring Championship team who would beat us. I also reckon Coventry will do Portsmouth.

CLOTH EARS Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Luton or Roherham will NOT be as easy as some of you think! Luton beat Rochdale away in the last round and Rochdale are one of the best teams in Lg 2, Rotherham are a decent outfit and will be capable of turning us over if we are not 100% at it! Sheff Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Never lost to a League 2 or non-league team in the FA Cup (Have we?) so we've got to back ourselves!
astrasri Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 This is a winnable cup-tie, but because it is a cup-tie it's not a game we have a God-given right to win. I think we will dig in and grind out a result.
Psycrow Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 meh.. as the ball were being drawn i thought we were on for man u or liverpool Maybe my mind deceives me, but weren't you complaining last season when we drew MU in the cup because of the fans reactions? And now you're disappointed we didn't get them? I think Rotherham would be a really tough game, not sure about Luton. At home though we should be confident, I'd definitely be worried if it was away. Fitzhugh Fella Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Never lost to a League 2 or non-league team in the FA Cup (Have we?) so we've got to back ourselves! R3 Chelmsford City (a) 1938-39. Lost 4-1 Old Codger was there amid the 10,741 crowd, ask him about it - our only loss thus far to a non League side in the Cup. Legod Third Coming Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 That will do for me. A home tie every time and this is a really good chance for another win, more confidence, more winning mentality and then a nice juicy 4th round home draw against the Skates! Sheff Saint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Port Vale springs to mind or was that the league cup FA Cup but i think they were Division 3 at the time. We lost to Shrewsbury in the League cup that year as well. We always lose to Division 4 teams in the league cup.

I didn;t think we'd lost to a League 2 team ever, i just made a bit of an assumption about the non-league. Quite a heavy defeat. I think they'd be some wrist slitters on here if we end playing Luton and losing 4-1!

dune Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 A nice easy home game is just what the doctor ordered. Rotherham or Luton will be up for it, but so will we so we'll win.
david in sweden Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 rotherham or Luton at home.... OK so the scenario is we mop up all the lower league clubs first then meet Chelsea in the 6th round ...?
The Yeoman of beds Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Had loads of texts from Luton fans already looking forward to it. Would prefer Luton but would hate to slip up to them
stockportsaint Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Underwhelming. my thoughts exactly - on the bright side it's a home draw against a team 1 or 2 divisions below us, so we *should* beat them comfortably. Would still have preferred a big team away, or pompey anywhere
kpturner Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 If Rotherham get through, Adam Le Fondre will score at St Mary's - guaranteed (but we will still win).

stdanjo Posted 29 November, 2009 Share Posted 29 November, 2009 Do you think our game will get moved - timewise I mean not location, as Pompey are playing at home too, are the old bill likely to have both games on the same day?? On paper we are the less attractive tie and therefore most likely to be moved?? Also, does anyone have a clue when the rearranged game at Brentford would be???
