Tranmere Build Up

This time last year, or the year before, the prospect of a team coming to SMS with an away record of P 10, W1 D1 L8 and the worst GD in the division would have filled me with dread ... you just knew what was going to happen  but The Feel Good Factor brought on by AP's drive towards a winning mentality leaves me looking forward to each game regardless of who we are playing.

The fear of complacency will hopefully only be with the fans not the players and it is worth bearing in mind that they got a very creditable 3-3 draw at Huddersfield recently, so maybe they are good on the counter attack against a team that goes flat out to score at home like Huddersfield and dare I say us.

We should win handsomely, and I'm sure we will. I do have dreadful memories of that 4-3 defeat at prenton park. I was at University in Sheffield and one of my Wirral friends who was sharing in the house rubbed my nose in it big style. He went out on the razzle drinking champagne and has never let me forget.

That match has even been on re-runs over here in the last two months. There will be no sympathy if we give 'em a good spanking. 3-0 Saints

Didn't think I was going to be able to get to this game, but now I probably can. Haven't been to SMS in over two months, shameful of me. I expect fans of the rest of the teams in the League will depise our arrogance, but like most of you, I can't see us not winning again this weekend. I'm going for 4-1.

What a lovely feeling. This season is wonderfully refreshing, when compared to the last two.

Come on, you Saints.

Seems strange to have the whole week to enjoy a positive result as there have been so many Tuesday evening matches recently.

As I'm working nearby, I'm going to go to a midweek match this week, Reading v Palace, for a bit of 'no pressure' entertainment - plus I've never been to the Madejski.

I shall be shouting 'ooareya, ooareya' in equal measure to both sets of supporters.:p

It should be a straightforward home win, but it's a funny old game, or so I'm told.

The other key fixtures on Saturday, having looked at the table, are Bristol Rovers/Swindon, Millwall/Warsall, Leyton Orient/MK Dons.

Could do with a draw in the Bristol game, a draw or a Millwall win and a draw or a Leyton Orient win to go with a Saints win, and we claw back at least one more play off point.

This is a strange one to call.

On the one hand we are on another very good winning streak - on the otherhand Tranmere have nothing to lose by having a go at us. We know what Brighton did to us in the first 20/30 minutes - if Tranmere try the same we might struggle. I wouldn't worry if we went 1-0 down - but then again I'd be much happier with a very early goal (for Saints) followed by woeful defensive display by Tranmere resulting in a 6-0 win. Can't see it mind more likely to be 1-0 and batter them for 93 minutes only for them to equalise on 94!

We are significantly better than most teams in this league and we are beginning to belive it ourselves. No harm in a bit of arrogance on the pitch (or the terraces) but let's be restrained, saving it for after the game (if we win)!

I can't help it - I feel strangely optimistic providing we keep clear of silly suspensions and serious injuries. As for all the knockers on here give credit where it is due. The team of Liebherr, Cortese, Pardew & Wilkins have turned our lack lustre shell shocked yougsters into a half decent side. Admittedly we now have some backbone - Jaidi, Hammond and Lambert. All new (and welcome) additions to the squad.

Every week I look at the sides around us - visiting some of the grounds and watching some decent football - we should fear no one. We as supporters can only hope and pray that Mr. Complacency doesn't come back to roost in the ivory towers of SMS - but I think there is too much riding on it for some of the players. Some of the squad are clearly a different class - and they will want to play at a higher level. I almost get the feeling as much as they would take automatic promotion - some will relish to chance to step out at Wembley in May to show the footballing world what the club is capable of. It may be the hard way - two more games, but they will relish the challenge. How I would love Leeds to hit a bad run of injuries and only make the play offs - only for us to doom them to another season in League 1. We all have dreams - but sillier things could happen!

Not sure where that leaves me really - oh yes a reality check...2-0 Saints. They won't stop Lambo or Connolly...but almost everyone else will be close to scoring!

Quite nervous about this one. I would be happy with any win, but it would be nice to have a goal difference similar to the current play-off teams. It seems that anything can happen in this league. Would be an excellent confidence boost in time for Leeds if we smashed 'em with a rugby scoreline.

I'm sure we'll prevail.
