Saint_John Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 As mentioned above the FA have a 3 club rule (see Article 5) :-http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/RulesandR..._pg435-450.pdf "Players may be registered with a maximum of 3 clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs..."
Nadia Sllim Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 I thought about this and could see someone like Boro or Newcastle coming in for him. He is a scouser so a move North could suit him? Also he is the wrong end of the twenties and could take a big pay day? Lambert really excites me and the way again we have a figurehead and a crowd hero it would be a ****ing disaster if he moved.

Mustapha Fag Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 havnt we just doubled his wages, paid him a big signing on fee plus he would get a part of the transfer fee as he never asked to be transfer listed? Hes in a team playing well and hes scoring a shed load of goals seems a lot of christmas paranoia creeping in, anyway i heard a rumour that you cant play for three teams in a year or something
Gemmel Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 There is a rule that you cvan only play for two but you can appeal (Paul Jones did and won) However, he won't be going in January. If he gets his 30 goals again (which would be two seasons running) then of course clubs will come sniffing. Very few players hit that sort of volume consistantly. But it's not just Lambert, you've got Lallana, Morgan, Harding, Hammond who will all attract interest and then Waigo and Antonio on loans. If we dont make the playoffs this season, it will be as much about keeping the squad together as it is bringing in new faces.

Rocker268 Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 I don't think any of our first team will leave in Jan. We have the money to pay them as well as anyone else, they are in arguably one of the best team's in this league and if they stay they could be going into the Championship on their own efforts next season and beyond if they continue to play well. I can't see anyone moving to Newcastle or someone else in the Championship to potentially be a bench warmer when they have the structure that is currently in place. S-Clarke Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Stop worrying about losing players/management. They will not get the same support, financial backing at any other club in the FL. Pards' needs to rebuild his rep. and this is the best place for him to do that, i think he knows it too. How good is it for a manager to be able to rebuild a club from the roots and see the success from it? there isn't another FL club that could offer the same chacne. Stepgar Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 I would be really surprised if anyone of note left. As others have already said we are not on a position of having to sell simples. However I am sure that if a bid came in ir would hav to be ridiculous fo us to accept. Remember we don't have to sell to balance books. I am sure that funds will be made available to purchase more players to compliment the best ones we have. We have a real chance of going somewhere within the next few years. Who would not want to be a part of that?

david in sweden Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 Isn't there some rule about not being able to play for 3 different clubs in the same association in the same season? YES there is - and a player cannot play for MORE THAN 2 clubs in the same season. EVEN...If they are going to move...and sign a pre-nup agreement, they still cannot play competitive games in that same season. The only likely moves are those who want to go..like Saga..no-one is going to move from a successful club, unless they are at odds with the manager, etc. Can't see any of our " sought-after " players going - no matter who wants them. Unfortunately, many fans have a mindset that we have to sell our best. MONEY ISN'T A PROBLEM.......I liked the sound of that, I'll say it again ... MONEY ISN'T A PROBLEM, anymore. ML could probably buy Man.U or Liverpool without breaking sweat, or worrying his bank manager, if he so desired. (Except that FIFA /UEFA rules say you can't own two clubs in the same country....or something similar.) I'm sure money will be forthcoming in January and expect to see 2-3 new faces, but not for million pound prices. That sort of funding is not needed at this level and will likely be available in the coming seasons when we move up to CCC ...and later on in The Premiership .... Harry Faz Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 We now have good players, playing well and they will attract interest /speculation from clubs above us. We may lose one or two of them as the attraction of a bigger stage could be too much to resist. However, unlike in the past, we now dont need to sell, and we are playing well and moving forward as a club. I dont think we will lose anyone in january (other than those whose loan expires, we dont want ec). If we dont get promoted we may lose some over the summer. So the solution is to get promoted! Supersubpuckett Posted 15 December, 2009 Share Posted 15 December, 2009 We're a quality club with great facilities Financially sound Great team morale Good support every week Winning lots and scoring plenty Very good chance we can make the play offs I'm not sure he could cut it in the Championship anyway otherwise he would have moved up long ago. I think the summer will be quite a telling time for players moving if we don't get promoted. Harding and Lallana would be top of a lot of clubs lists I would have thought. There is a rule but you can appeal against it. 2nd post was accurate. It said there was a rule which stops people from playing for more than two clubs in a season. There is. The post was accurate. I don't know the ins and outs of the Paul Jones case but I suspect the arguement he had stood up a bit more than what Lamberts would be that "I want to play for a bigger club please." Everton would not have even discussed Lamberts name, let alone be interested in signing him. No Championship club will be making bids just yet because they can't sign him in January. You can appeal, but as I said i'm pretty sure the arguement you'd have would have to be better than just wanting to go up a league. Which is probably what the rule was bought in for in the first place, to stop players leaving for bigger clubs after only playing for a team for a few months.
