saintedwill Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 Thought he was fantastic today. Yeh I would definately agree with that 100% saintedwill Mate as him along with Jaidi, Perry n others were my MOTM today as they played very well today and OK we lost to Pompey but I'm sure that to get over this defeat is to bounce back starting off with Norwich next Saturday n then Wycombe next Tuesday but we will see ! Even without that hanging over them it was a must win against a fellow struggler.......and they muster 16000 ? When will this pathetic false praise of their fans that is continually perpetuated by the media going to stop FFS ?
SaintBobby Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 He's a superb footballer. His poise on the ball was exceptional. He looked like an international-quality player at times today. I dearly hope we keep him for 2010/11. At the end of the game, he collapsed onto his knees. Partly out of exhaustion, I'm sure, but also I think he was emotionally upset. I'm sure he must have won MotM. I was in the Channon suite, where they promised us the MotM at 3pm, then 315pm, then 330pm. At 350pm -with still nio Saints player in sight - Kelvin turned up and tried to cheer us up as "club captain". I assume Adam won MotM - deservedly - but was not up to facing a ****ed-up (but supportive) audience of 500 Saints fans. Fair play to the lad either way. What a talent and what a credit to our team. BallBoy Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 Agree that he showed his class today and that he ran himself into the ground. I just hope he sticks with us in the close season when offers will definitely come his way. Pardew seems to have got the best out of him and Hammond enables him to play his natural game by taking the pressure off in midfield.

shurlock Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 Had an excellent game (and probably the closest either team came to fielding a local player). S-Clarke Posted 13 February, 2010 Share Posted 13 February, 2010 he was great today as everyone has said - it wasn't just his technical ability which impressed me, it was his continuous harassing of their midfield - he won the ball off players like Diop and Basinas time after time. I still think we'll keep him in the summer as well, i can't see a prem. club going for him just yet - and not many CCC clubs will be able to meet the price we want, so i think he'll stay on this journey with us. Saint Billy Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I must be the only one here then truly missing something with Lallana. I thought Lallana's endeavor and effort were faultless and he gave his all 100%, but for all his hussle and bussle and little bits of trickery he was not that effective in front of goal. His shots are more often than not scuffed or very weak and sometimes he can be selfish in front of goal when he could of passed to another player in a better position. We all love a guy who shows commitment to the cause and someone who shows true emotion with the pain of being beaten, but I do think some of us think he is better than he really is at the moment. He does have a lot of potential but lets not over hype the guy. The one bit of magic that the pompey sub produced for their first goal was better than anything Lallana did all game. LostBoys Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 He worked very hard and got into some great positions. Unfortunately all the chances fell to him and he fluffed the lot - anyone can be a great keeper if you keep kicking the ball at him. He should look at the game video and then practice actually kicking a ball properly.

Lallana had two I can remember - one was a header which James produced a great save and the other was just a shot which was saved and tapped in by Barnard, which he should have left for Lallana to tap home. LostBoys Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 In terms of his shooting and heading abilities I am afraid they do not match the rest of his play. ottery st mary Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 I thought Dan Harding was sh*t today. Can't imagine why AP took Perry off for Holmes when he could have taken Harding off. Everything he did was cack. Skates attacked down his side because they knew everything would get past him. Right midfield and Right back wide open.....Antonio was off taking throw ins and had no cover on right when he attacked....Second half, Poor old Thomas was caught up field too often and had no legs...Likewise the legs of Jaidi and Perry had gone for burton in the last 20 minutes.... All the problems were down our right.......Why you blame Harding is very strange indeed. Saints played very well and through a combination of good goalkeeping, luck and lack of killer strike we were eventually beaten by pace against very tiring legs.. Lallana is awesome..gives himself so much time on the ball..Great ball control..very skilfull... sign of class..Unlike a lot of top players he also worked very hard for the cause.. His header was unlucky good save and unlucky on his direction as he tried to make ground for the contact.....Top player. A few for some reason just do not see what most Saints fans see and top football peeps talk about re Adam Lallana....Great footballer.. Saints well done and so to you great supporters...Well done and Top stuff.. Frustrated with the result but onwards we go.. My first time ever in Chapel..Very surprised..Children,Parents and grandparents singing their hearts out...The future is definitely bright in a very good red and white..... Like others I do not like losing but forget it we still have more to come in the league and Wembley.. So proud to be a Saints fan:) COYRs
del boy Posted 14 February, 2010 Share Posted 14 February, 2010 He had a bit more time against average Premiership oppostion. Shame we couldn't have gone in 2 up at half time, and that their finishing was so good as we chased the game. A lot to be proud of today - but the scoreline hurts. Lallana had two I can remember - one was a header which James produced a great save and the other was just a shot which was saved and tapped in by Barnard, which he should have left for Lallana to tap home. Lallana also had a left-foot volley in the second half that plopped into James's arms. He has great skill and can hold the ball well but he can't kick through it with real power. When he learns that, he will be awesome, but at his age he should have done so by now.
