anyone remember immants bledelis ...? (sp)

can't forget him

.Last time I saws him play (for Latvia v. Sweden) he was still going strong and was M.O.M.

He came to keep Pahars company but it seems he could never get himself out of the Reserves.

Very unfair on him really, he still looks very good in a poor Latvian side.

Kamil Kosowski and Tomaz Hajto!

The day of the Ipswich game back in 2005/6 - we lost 2-0 and after the second goal went in the crowd turned on Rupert Lowe and that was, for me, the beginning of the end for him, until he came back again to "rescue" us from Dulieu/Hone etc. Anyway, that evening we went out on the town for a few drinks, and ended up at the casino at Town Quay. There we were with our £20 of chips on the roulette table, putting £1 or £2 at a time on black, or if feeling adventurous, maybe £5 at a time. On the same table were Kosowski and Hajto spunking our gate fees on the table, putting wads of £20s down at a time to buy more chips. I remember seeing the wads of notes and feeling angry that they got so much cash when they'd played sh1t that afternoon.

Hajto was massive, as I recall, easily 6'4", and lots of muscle.

Alas, Bleidelis did make the first team, live on Sky 3-0 up against Tranmere, Bleidelis came on for the second half and helped us lose 4-3.

His names been bugging me for ages! Its Yussef or something someone.

Signed from Norwich.... I think....

Seriously that was 2-3 years ago, and he played almost every game that year, and captained us sometimes in the Stern John/Pearson year...going to Wembley are you??:smt009

A long way from Morroco, but any thread about old foreign Saints players should surely mention Ronnie Ekelund. What a player!

For the younger fans he will only be a name us older ones throw out now and again, but for anyone that saw him what a player!! him and Matty in midfield was pure heaven and anyone MLT rates so highly cant be that bad.

Remember coventry away in the Grobelaar did he/didnt he match, he was pure class scored 2

Think that was Tahar... Song from the Archers went "Tahar's got shiny new boots", as I recall.

Your right, it was Tahar but the chant went "New boots Tahar--New boots Tahar"

and was sung again within my family, when anybody had new shoes.

Have we ever done a non-European Saints XI? I'm sure we have, but I'll have a go anyway:

Grobellaar

Viafara - Jaidi - Tahar - Chereidnik

Fuller - Belmadi - Safri - Kachloul

Jones - Delgado

Subs: Torpedo, Chala, Gotsmanov, Brennan, Euell, John, Yahia, Kanchelskis, Ali Dia!

Loans we've had, not included: Sarmiento, Camara

Pretty dump side, apart from the attacking options...I'm sure I've forgotten some though?

Who can forget "The Torpedo!".... What was that kids name?

Federico Arias.

Who remembers Marcelo Sarmiento(sp?)? I saw him once in Tesco with a trolly full of 7-Up. Shame it's only taken us three years to be even close to that scoreline.

What about Tahar El Khalej - remember that hack of a challenge on Dyer which put Dyer out for months, didn't he miss out on the Euros with England coz of it?

It was the 2002 World Cup (they named the squad 2 days before the game) and no, after theatening to sue, the poncy tvvat still made the squad comfortably despite being injured most of the time, and even played against Sweden, Denmark and Brazil.

My Fantasy Football team for 2002/3 was called "Tahar Shot JR" in reference to the media outrage that followed El-Kelloggs' hilarious tackle, which was the last game of the season, when Paul Telfer also lobbed the keeper from 35 yards.

For the worst foreign dump XI:

Stensgaard

Nilsson - Jacobsson - Yahia - Chala

Arias - Sarmiento - Safri - Bledelis -

Dia - John

oh dear!
