I'm fed up with this rubbish. Pardew isn't up to it in league. Cortese is right he needs to go. This isn't good enough and his tactics are crap. I'm really not sure he's up to it. Forget the micky mouse trophy this was important today.

 

with this team, this money, best striker outside the Prem in my book, to not be in the top 6 WITH the 10 points then wtf? crawl out of his ar*s people. He won us the tin pot cup. wow.

 

Talk of promotion next season? How? If we cant get in the top 6 this season with AP regardless of points then what will improve next season.

 

Id have a bet with anyone he wont be here by 1st July and I for one wont shed a tear.

Haven't you worked it out yet. When we win, the manager has achieved the bare minimum and deserves no credit.

 

However when we lose, the manager is clearly not up to the job and should be replaced by anyone going. Said replacement will be sacked if they have a similar set of results (Ie, 2 points per game)

I think the guy's done a great job we're going to finish around eighth place where we started from it ain't bad and we won a cup to boot ...

AP got it wrong tonight. I'm not saying he should go. But he got it wrong and it cost us the win.

 

 

I think Pardew is a decent manager and I think we we are very unlikely to get anyone better while we are in league one.

 

Tonight I think he has got it wrong as well. As soon as the team and formation became clear my confidence in winning this game drained away. we played 4-5-1 early in the season (fairly unsuccessfully) beacause we didnt have anyone to play up front with Lambert. Why revert back now?

we don't know the full status of the team, who was fit and who wasn't. There are many other variables to team selection and we will never know the full story.

 

We know morgan was injured though, he's a massive miss, so we've had to counteract that slightly in the way we play.

 

TBH some of the people moaning are also the same people that think Morgan is not good enough for us. That kind of nullifies any other opinion they have IMO.

For some bizarre reason, Morgan is crazily underrated on here! We miss him badly when he's not in the team. Top transfer target for the summer should be someone, who, when Morgan or Deano don't play, I don't go into a cold sweat (I know Deano's not been on top form lately, but we don't half miss him when he's not playing)

It's amazing how short peoples memories are.

 

Personally i expected mid table at the very best the start of this season, what with the mess we were in. Last sunday gave me one of my best days out i've had as a saints fan (and it seemed others had a pretty good times too, including the players be the looks of things). I am looking forward to next season and pretty confident that we'll be winning games. Sacking yet ANOTHER manager would be suicide imo. But what the hell do i know??

Agreed, we're having a good season, it makes a great change to be winning most of the time. .

Were all disappointed that it was a poor performance tonight, But some people need to get some perspective we played badly but still got a result, not the one we all hoped for, but what do we all expect other teams to just roll up & roll over & let us win. How dare Brighton score two good goals against us tonight. Great finish for the first & a great cross & header to put them 2-1 up. But we still battled back & got a result if not the one we wanted. After the start we had this season we are in a very respectable position, & are just about where I predicted we'd be.

Also if you look at the league this season its been unusual that the top 6 have been so consistent. I'd also like to ask those questioning AP who realistically they think would come here & make us so much better. After all we've seen what changing the manager can do for us over the last few years. What we need is stability & continuity, a little patience now will IMHO reap the rewards in the near future.

On that basis we would have had 8 managers this season, QPR minted and have applied a similar rational they have quite merrily headed south with so many changes................................... When do we pull the ripcord?: halfway down the Unibond league?

I don't happen to think AP is the Messiah, but I've highlighted the point in your post that is most apt! So we change to Poyet & maybe he isn't as good as AP what then? If Man United had sacked fergie after 2 years with no trophy's at the start of his reign then Maybe they wouldn't have had the phenomenal success that they've had over the last 10/15 years. Now I'm not suggesting for one minute that AP will give us that sort of success, but it took Fergie time to build his team/squad. All people are saying is get some perspective & give him a full pre-season, I suspect a few new faces & a good few out the door, this team has the makings with a few tweaks of being the best team in the division next year Maybe.

Couldn't agree more. I've said from the get go AP needs a season and a half to be judged. The question was 'if not AP then who'? My answer would be Gus Poyet, maybe.

That's fair enough docker-p hope we don't have to go down that route, and Poyet is still unproven as a manager, but I think he probably will do OK. But at sometime though we need to give a manager be it AP or someone else time & patience to build a squad and have a bit of stability.

saints would be on the verge of a play off place without the -10 deduction. Saints have some very winnable games at home and some games away from home that could still get us in a play off place. The merry-go round of managers that have been at SMS over the past few years have not had the win ratio AP has had -from some of these comments you would have thought Saints were on the verge of relegation again not close to a play off place!!

Some truly absurd comments on here tonight even by the normal standard. The 3 posted originally by Saint_clark are 3 of those which stood out as I was reading through the match thread. I vote we have 2 match threads, one on here for those who can post sensibly and one on TMS for those who must either be wind up merchants or totally clueless. Pardew out ? That is so ridiculous, in fact one of the most ridiculous things I've heard in 45 years of supporting Saints ! He has turned this club around, made some very, very good signings and at this level is an excellent manager who we are damned lucky to have.

We didn't even reach a positive points tally until October 3rd when we beat Gillingham, that was ELEVEN games in and we were obviously bottom of the table at that point in time. Anyone who really thought we had a chance of the play offs then must be the most eternal of optimists as even with my positive nature I was more concerned at just getting to mid table safety. We have with some ease, in many ways the fact we are still mathematically in with a chance of the play offs is an excellent effort after our start albeit I suspect we will fall short.

Next season we'll know exactly what we can achieve, I expect automatic promotion, I also expect and want Pardew to be the man who delivers it. I'm not expecting Cortese to get rid of Pardew, shame on him if he does and for certain he'll alienate far more supporters than he pleases.

Lets go for a League one manager who has had experience of the third division with a small provincial club, its a bit of a risk but we have our principles' .

its entirely possible that we will, after a terrible start to the season with a poor squad, finish within 10 points of automatic promotion.

 

Not everything is perfect, but then football would be pretty dull if everything was predictable.

I read somewhere that of eleven teams which have had points deducted only Leeds have managed to make the playoffs in the same season. Therefore to get to this position, albeit with a very very slim chance of making them is not bad. Perhaps a little more perspective on the behalf of some fans would be welcome?
