Antonio's Reading contract is up at the end of the season. It would'nt cost us anything to retain him, just his wages.

 

there would be some kind of development tribunal fee paid to reading i think, not sure how much that would be.

Hopefully Morgan will still be here!

2 things that may influence that: a) He decides that he no longer wants to be here, & b) He goes on a blistering goal run for the last few games and puts himself on other teams radars (in a team where just about everyone in the team has a score against their name he is the only one a a tally of zero: not the most notable entry on a midfielders CV).

Done to death but Perry, Pulis, Gillett, Murty, Thomas, Forecast, Holmes and Molly are all likely candidates for a one way train ticket. I'd like to find someone better than Wotton too. Antonio, Bart and Thomas are all out of contract, but I'd like them to stay.

I would agree with this list but would make Wotton Captain/Coach of Reserves

to help manage develop the youth/prospective first team players...More games arranged for said reserves.

 

Antonio, Papa and Bart signed and Thomas on much reduced contract or out the door.

 

Connolly is a question mark and only further contract if really proven fitness or exit left.

 

No doubt a clear out of some of youth team not making the grade but others should be pushing for the first team squad..

I think Pardew will move the following players out in the summer for various reasons:

 

Holmes (Injury prone)

Wotton (Old and crap)

Perry (Old but he could join the coaching staff)

Molyneaux (Crap and a **** head)

Pulis (Injury prone)

 

I'm not sure on the following players though:

 

Connolly (Injury prone but an experienced top striker who could still do a job for us)

Antonio (Very hit and miss! Maybe he will get better with age)

Papa Waigo (I find him very lazy but he can still do a job on the wing or upfront from the bench)

Murty (Injury prone but Pardew likes him a lot. Maybe another candidate for the coaching staff)

Gillett (I really like Gillett as a player and I can't believe he doesn't get more games ahead of Wotton. I'm not sure that Pardew rates him though.)

Thomas (A good player to have at the back against a team that plays the ball in the air a lot (i.e. MK Dons) but can be found out against a quick tricky winger when playing at right back. Much better at centre back though).

That's just simply a ridiculous comment but anyway it's not really relevant to the thread so I won't mention it... oh ;)

Gillett as AP just doesn't seem to rate him he will probably be gone. (I'd keep him far better than Wotton)

 

Connolly when he was fit at the start for us then I'd keep him. But I just think he's proven that he is just not going to stay fit for a protracted period of time. I'd rather AP looked a more long term replacement. We don't need to be carrying deadwood anymore.

 

I'd give new contract's to Bart, Thomas (vastly reduced wages) I'd hope we can get Antonio, whilst he's very raw & frustrating at times, he has the potential to be a match winner, match time will improve his decision making, & his undoubted skill & pace will frighten any defence. Papa is a bit of an enigma to me, seems a better substitute than starter, whether we have space in the squad for him just as a sub I'm not sure?

I think you do Papa Waigo an injustice.

He is the sort of " heavy" we need up front, and many African players do look very "laid back " in their playing style. He seems to have the habit of scoring half chances and knock-ins and though he'd hardly win goal of the season ..they all count... and we wouldn't have got anywhere near Wembley if it hadn't been for his contributions in the JPT.

Seems to me you want to be certain what division we're going to be in before deciding this sort of thing. So long as there's a faint chance of promotion, it's too soon to say who stays & who doesn't ...

What is that based on? He has played when fit, but he has only really been competing with James. Was signed, or at least brought in on trial, by Wotte at the end of last season.
