You think Charlton will only get 2 points from 6 games and Huddersfield only get 8 points from 6 games?

And you have the cheek to criticize women for knowledge of the game! :D

alright, alright, dont ejaculate, was a typo, didn't mean put Charlton in, did it by mistake as i was thinking of something else. We will miss out to Huddersfield by 3 points, Huddersfield have a tough run in and i think we will run out of games to catch them.

5 points behind whoever is in 6th.

We haven't managed to get above Rovers or MK Dons in a few months, why people think all of a sudden we're going fly past them and the teams above them in a few games is beyond me.

But we're already ahead of MK Dons and have been consistently on better form than them for months. We have Bristol Rovers to play, which if we win could put as above them, and all of a sudden Colchester (and Leeds) have started losing regularly.

We're 11 points behind 6th with 7 games left, a game in hand on most.

6 games ago we were 8 points behind MK Dons with a game in hand.

FWIW I think we'll win 4 draw 2 and lose 1, and 71 points is only 3 ahead of what Colchester and Huddersfield already have.

I have a horrible feeling about Gillingham away.

74 points - we will f**k up and draw one at home, likewise away.

not going to be enough, suddenly realised.

:-(

That's how I see it. Draw tomorrow and away to Gillingham but win the rest. 74 points would normally be enough but this season, could be as much as 8 short.

We'll fall 9 points short then Nicola will launch and win a legal case reinstating the 10 points deduction on the grounds that the assurance we made that we would not appeal was given by the previous regime, not the incumbents. The rest of the league will be a bit upset. But we'll lose the first play-off game in the mistaken belief that we've done enough already.

Or - we'll lose against Charlton this weekend. Game over.

What have Huddersfield done in their last six? Three wins, a draw, and two losses. If they repeat that same form over the next six games, which is not at all unlikely, they'll pick up 10 points. Turn one of those wins into a draw, and they'd have 8 only, and that too is very conceivable. The reality is that Saints cannot afford to drop any more points; but if we somehow should manage to win all oufield and Colchester are stioll very ctachable, and 6th place is still on: because if we do that we'd have 78 points, as would Huddersfield with 3 wins a draw and 2 losses -- and goal difference would see us through.

So ...

Until our next draw or loss, let's not give up hope!

Erm, how exactly are we going to appeal the points deduction (never mind successfully) in time for the play-offs ? When are they holding them ? At the end of 2012 ?

Given their current run of form 8 points seems very generous for Huddersfield. They have also given the appearance of being bottlers. Perhaps it all an attempt to give us confidence but I predict that they will get 6 (1 win and three draws). There is little doubt in my mind that the playoff spot is there for the taking. It is OUR team we need to be worried about. Can they actually manage the 17 points we would need.

Huddersfield train about 500 feet from where im sat right now. Ive seen them walking back from the training centre a couple of time when getting the bus into uni, though ive never walked down the path to have a look. I could, in theory, go down there and sabotage the entire team somehow, though we'd need to come up with a plan.

Amazing how people think we'll magic a 7 game winning streak out of thin air. However much i'd like to see that happen as well, the chances of it actually happening are waaaay too slim to bank on.

I think we'll finish with around 69/70 points and in 8th or 9th place. I'm happy with that tbh, given that we had no pre-season, didn't win for our first 10 games and had a -10 points deduction. It's all about next season now!

I don't think anyone much thinks that we WILL come up with a 7 game winning streak: it's just that such a thing is possible and that possibility has to be taken into account. When I look at our 7 remaining fixtures, I don't see a single one that we could not win comfortably with the team we have. Of course, Wycombe & Tranmere looked like they could be comfortable wins too, and we got a draw and a loss: hence no doubt your skepticism.

But as long as there's a chance, why is it unreasonable to speculate about that chance? We've passed MK Dons; we can pass Bristol if we beat them (i.e. that's in our own hands); and Colchester are on such a horrendous run of form right now, that catching and passing them looks more likely than not so long as we continue to play hard and get results.

That just leaves Huddersfield. To be safe they need to get more than ten points from their last 6 games. I think that's a hard get for them: they just aren't that good, especially away from home, and they still have to play one or two good sides (Millwall, notably).

Will we catch them? Probably not, we'll likely mess up one or two games somehow.

Could we catch them and end up 6th? It is still a real possibility.

We'll end up with 71 points IMO. Even with an undefeated run and ending up on 78 points, I still don't think it will be enough, Huddersfield will get more than 10 points.

I just did the Beeb predictor as realistically as I could, and we got more points than I wrote yesterday, but we still finished in 7th, TEN POINTS behind Huddersfield. (I still think that even if we win all our games it won't be enough, the sides above us will be so desperate to grab those spots.)

Of course, with the next two games being our hardest, two wins would certainly scare the heebeejeebies out of the sides further up, nerves could get to them, and 78 points would be enough.
