Pardew's post match interview

Personally I think he said something to the players at half time that royally p*ssed them off. They all came back out in the second half with their heads down looking like they didn't want to be there, and at the final whistle Butterfield and another player I couldn't recognise went straight down the tunnel without shaking hands with the opposition or anything.

FFS, behave yourself.

Did he say: "Put the ball in the back of the net" ?

I don't know, but I can't think of any other explanation for the players getting out so late, looking so demoralised after such a strong first half, and a couple of them leaving the pitch bang on the final whistle.

After the game they were disappointed that they lost a game they should have won, no point hanging around the centre circle. Does sound like he might have been told not to mention much on the transfer front. That is fine if behind the scenes they are working hard to bring the required players in!

Bad sportsmanship to not even shake hands with your opponents though.

Feck me, there are some right drama queens on here.

I'm only posting the way I saw things. I'm one of the most optimistic people on here, and still think we will go up, but that is the only reason I can explain the players lack of interest in the second half.

When you don't win a match failing to score can be one of the factors. Pardew seemed to focus more on Plymouth getting a goal than us not getting one.

As for why we didn't, there were some moments when we got into their area, but they had it very well packed. I thought the build up from midfield was our weakness as we didn't seem to stretch their defence, but maybe others saw it differently.

To be fair to Pardew and his interview, he probably doesn't say on air what he truly believes, or what he says to the team.

You're not though, otherwise you'd have said 'they didn't look interested at half time'. Instead you're coming up with nonsense to try an explain your point of view.

Personally I didn't think they showed a lack of interest. Sure, they were still asleep at the start of the second half but, from the hour mark they had enough chances to win the game...or at least score.

He has a captain who seems incapable of dominating the midfield and driving his fellow players on. He has 2 strikers who have forgotten where the goal is and had multiple shots/headers off target. He plays 2 short ar**s as strikers and bases most attacks on crosses.....

Apart from that no problem...

yeah..we did really didn't we..

remind me of how many shots on target..?

72 mins was the first from open play..

lots of possession and a few good crosses....not real chances though..their keeper did not have to make many saves..and he looked dodgy with the stuff he did have to do

Crosses that flash across the face of goal are chances. A different strikeforce or a slice of luck and we would have been clear winners today.

Pardew "It was a lesson for us"

WTF, we're the team that's had 12 months of rebuilding and major investment - we should be the ones dishing out lessons.

Shut up Pardew and sort yourself out.

I have to agree with you there Duney.

different strike force..?

other than the ex international and 20 goal a season barnard..?

come on..call a spade a spade...we should have done better in front of goal and we never really made their keeper make a save

at home, to anyone in this league....IS poor

im sure we ill go up..but I am on about today

I am pretty sure Lambert would have scored a couple today from some of those crosses, but he wasn't and we didn't. No way were Barnard and Connolly going to win anything in the air again their centre halves today.

No we did make their keeper make saves, it just wasn't our strikers doing it which is kind of worrying.

how many had him diving across his goal..?

a few free kicks that went straight to him..

it was not until lallana on 72 mins did we make him scramble..

Right we didn't do enough to score, everyone on this forum knows that.

We need another striker and a winger, we know that and as does Pardew.

We move to the next game, what else do you want??

sure, but Hammond had a free header at the back post in the 1st half that he put over. He should have scored. It was not on target but that was the sort of chance you expect to take more often than not.

That said we struggled ad will do without pace or Lambert.

Does he?

He talked about a back-up striker for Lambert as he didn't see enough from Barnard and Connolly against Gillingham. Where is that back-up striker for Lambert? Joe Garner was available for a loan move from Nottm Forest, as far as I know we never even tried to sign him and just let Huddersfield take him.

I've been saying this since last season - I don't think Pardew is the manager the majority think on here, he doesn't cope with pressure well - as shown at Chartlon and West Ham.

He has spent a massive amount here, but today showed we're nothing more than a one man team.

He said we're looking to get 2 or 3 players in, today showed him that we struggle without a Lambert type player upfront.

I'll start to worry about a lack of goals at the start of September.

I can't imagine there would be much discussion had that single shot on target we had (remember Plymouth only had 1...) had gone in.

Nothing has changed from last season IMO.....we dominate the first half and nearly score on a few occasions and then the opposition get a wind up and nick it.

Same old same old.

I still font doubt we will be in a promotion position at the end of the season but it isn't going to be the 'stroll in the park' that some think.
