Fitzhugh Fella Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Went to the Kevin Moore charity evening in Otterbourne last night and thought it was very successful and well organised. It was good to se some folk from Fulham FC down and along with Grimsby they provided items to auction. Kevin's family were also there. Good to see Jimmy Case and a couple of Hants cricketeers (Dimi and Nic Pothas) in attendance. Matt and L Mac were on form and there was a lot of interesting chat both football related (Dia, Kevin Keegan, Bally, Tim Flowers) and inevitably some hard-hitting, controversial, political stuff too, which is best if it stays between the 4 walls it was spoken in. I know L Mac - understandably - gets lots of flak for his ego etc etc but I have got to say the guy still loves the club as much as anyone, follows it avidly, and gives a helluva lot of his spare time up doing charitable events which at his age must be quite draining. Ditto Mike Osman who compered and told some genuinely funny jokes, especially about Millbrook. Seeing all the effort and dedication put in to help an ex-Saint was gratifying and occasions such as this reminded me why I fell under the club's spell in the first place. Matt is as comfortable behind the microphone as he was with the ball. Enough said! Kevin is not really in "a good place" right now but he has a loving family and last night proved many people care about him still.

Lets B Avenue Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 It was expressly asked by Mike Osman to keep it in the "Otterbourne Shed" and in view of the reaction to previous comments by club legends, that is probably the correct move. FF your post doesnt actually say anything other than I know something you dont know. Surly 90% of that could have been left out if you are not going to talk about it. I dont care if I never find out (dont actually want to) what was said. Especially if it was said in confidence of those 4 walls. (something tells me that there will be others there that will ba happy to blab all the same) But to come here and teeze is only going to get peoples backs up and start more saints v saints agressive debates that will end in people getting banned for taking it too far. Rant over!

Saint_clark Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 no just the real deal with no pr spin. To be fair you have no idea if it was the truth or not, but let's not take away from a thread aimed to discuss a charity. FF shouldn't have brought it up in the OP, and equally people shouldn't have responded to it.

bigdavewatson Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 FF, nice post, I was going to go as I will always remember the giant leap from Kevin Moore at Wembley in the ZDS and always liked him as a player. Some of the comments about LMac and Osman are unbelievable when the post was to highlight something charitable for a guy and his family who are in a very bad place right now. Manji - you are a disgrace. FF I echo your sentiments about reasons why you fell for the club in the first place. AussieDog Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 some people on here are so "precious" aren't they?? I bet they trawl these forums looking for something to get upset about. Thanks for the update FF.....I totally agree with you about times like these reminding us as to why some of us became Saints fans. Over the past 10 years we have lost that community and family feel about the place. As for Mike Osman - everyone is entitled to their own opinion but i find him a genuinely funny guy and a true saints fan and doesn't deserve the stick he appears to be getting. I actually met the guy many years ago when he still had a "proper" job as he was involved in some renovations on a house of mine back in the 80's. He and his family have always come across as very genuine people. Oh....and I was lucky enough to play Remedy Oaks earlier in the year too....what a top, top golf course!! In fact there was probably allot more he could have talked about but chose to tell us he knows something that we dont and he wont say any more. I like FF and dont usually rise to this type of thing but this does look like bait to get certain people to respond. If you don't want the views of a person on someone else to be part of the thread don't mention it in the first place. By saying, doing what you outlined above you can guarantee that the thread will soon descend into 'what were their views? Go on, tell us...' just as this thread has swerved totally away from Kevin Moore and onto just what were LM's and MLT's 'political' views. Which I personally would suggest is just what the topic author was hoping for.

Good point, same with me, although in my case it was my Grandad and I guess the fact that it was something I shared with a family member (as did you) is the connection to a family club?
