niceandfriendly Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Really can't be bothered to make the journey for this one now. Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Same as tonight I imagine, it's probably our strongest team (without obviously Lallana). Or swap Connolly for Barnard. We will get smashed by Col U, 3-0.

itchen_dan Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 My XI: Davis Butterfield - Fonte © - Seaborne - Harding Puncheon - Schneiderlin - Guly - Dickson Lambert - Barnard Subs: Bart, Oxlade, Hammond, Holmes, Wotton, Connolly, Martin Really don't like Hammond. Never has impressed me since he arrived. Doesn't do enough to warrant the captaincy and hopefully we can get Guly to add more of an attacking threat from midfield. S-Clarke Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Drop Lambert, bring barnard in. Stop the long ball, try to play to feet with width. We need a shake up, keeping the same team for the sake of it is not good in our situation. We need a freshen up as they're stale and lacking confidence. rocknrollman no2 Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Iguess the team will be the same bunch of lazy, underacheivers as usual. Today one of the crowd i go with cashed in their ST because they have had enough of watching Saints freefall through the leagues and this person has had one since the Prem days.I tried to persuade otherwise but to be fair,i totally understand why.No doubt this Saturday i will come away from St Marys feeling fed up again after paying for the privilege. Nobody said it would be plain sailing supporting Saints, but they also didnt say how hard it would be.
Seaside Saint 2 Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Barnard in for Connolly and if Martin's fit I'd bring him in in place of Seabourne, and replace Hammond or Schneiderlin with Guly. Otherwise same as tonight.

At the moment, in form terms, yes. But when we play well and on form, we're one of the better teams. It just doesn't feel like we're ever going to be on form again though. No coincidence our set piece defending has been awful since he was left out. No way. Jeez, against Reading he made me look quick at my age. Sorry, but much of the problem is Connelly for Barnard at the moment, good player but doesn't get in the faces of defenders like Barnard does. He just seems a small lightweight now in this league And we have to shake up the midfield. Chamberlain still has pace and potential BUT hasn't turned that into assists or goals yet. Dickson in on Saturday for sure, Chamberlain the impact player agains a tiring defence, maybe Guly for Hammond hell at the moment even Wotton for Hammond. Actually hell, even Pulis for Hammond
IOWSaintDaz Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Drop the whole 1st team and play players who actually want to win games would be a start!. An absolute shambles again tonight, It can only get better I guess but i'm not confident of a result on Saturday vs Colchester at all, Adkins has alot of work to do, the first thing to do would be to drop Puncheon he sounded like he was awful again
S-Clarke Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 We don't really have many options to change it around - best squad in the league my arse. It's a good point, our bench and options are bloody awful. We probably only need 1 or 2 extra faces and it'll look a whole lot different....but we're not anywhere near getting players. Adkins has got to assess the current lads first, which is fair enough. One player i'd like to see given more of a chance is Dickson, he was rated as one of the best players in L1 last season - so let's bloody well use him. niceandfriendly Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 The following players need dropping IMO, Davis, Fonte (pains me to say it), Puncheon (complete liability at the moment) Hammond and Lambert. Christ they're all bloody good players but they're just not performing at the moment. Trouble is, we don't have many options to replace them. Good luck Nigel! S-Clarke Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Davis was one of the better players tonight, pulled off 2 cracking saves. I don't think he's at fault, it's the players in front of him letting him down. but i agree with dropping Hammond/Punch and lambo. They need to get fit. I'm a big fan of puncheon and lambert, but they've struggled massively this season and are possibly our two worst players at the moment.

It's just not happening for any players at the moment to be honest. However, all those things are things which can be fixed so it's not time to get the razor blades out just yet. I don't think he's at fault, it's the players in front of him letting him down. Fair point. Davis will always make cracking saves, he's reliable on that front. However, I'm just really keen to see Bart given a go. I don't think KD commands his area like Bart does, and Davis' kicking is still woeful. Smirking_Saint Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 We need to get some Loans in, Connelly is well past it for me, Lambert is off form. That leaves us with Barney, who has been banned. Lallana is injured, Ox-C is too young and lightweight atm, Punch just isn't firing on all cylinders and now Fonte is going through a grey patch. No wonder we are sh*te ATM. If we get a loan player or two before Colchester i will be more confident, until then i am worried.

Weston Saint Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 Something is clearly wrong. Some players are not performing to the same level as last season. They have lost confidence, look defeated if they fail to score early on and some are not stepping up to the mark. Adkins has a massive job on his hands. It will not happen overnight, he has few alternative players to use at present and confidence will only come back when we start winning. I just hope we can start to fire before this season turns into another building for next season syndrome. As for the team on Saturday I do not see room for many changes. An early goal from us and I fancy our chances. The longer we go goaless during the game the more chance we will lose it. If Colchester score first, on the present fragile state of the players we will not get back into the game. We have been there before. Let us hope Saturday is a positive turning point. Pilchards Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 How to win on Saturday. Two new loan players in on Thursday, The players then have to come in on rest day to watch a DVD on where we can improve. Then NA takes them on the pitch to do some simple set pieces that will of been noted by our scout on Colchester. Friday, nice and early please for training as NA has them getting used to our new flank football as our new loanees get to the bar line everytime. Friday afternoon, set pieces re-run until the thick ****s get it right. Saturday morning in early for some more bonding with the team and then Saturday afternoon kick ****ing arse. If no player kicks arse then you are training with the children on Monday. Btw training next week will be 4 hours a day running up and down the terraces until you are half dead. Fuxking Saints make me so angry at the moment because nothing is simple.

Arizona Posted 15 September, 2010 Share Posted 15 September, 2010 When was the last time we beat Colchester? I vaguely recall Blackstock getting a hattrick in a 3-2 League Cup victory in our last season in the Prem, but I don't think we've beatten them in about 6 League attempts since then. They turned us over home and away in the playoff season. BWP got a goal in a really sh*t midweek draw the season after and then there was last season. A sh*t 0-0 at SMS and eqaully sh*t, but much colder and foggier defeat in Colchester. Games against the Us are ALWAYS sh*t. We haven't even achieved an average performance against them in the last 6 attempts.

Shroppie Posted 16 September, 2010 Share Posted 16 September, 2010 Desperate times need desperate measures. Assuming we don't get three brilliant loans in by Saturday, I would go with Davis Butterfield Fonte Martin Harding Puncheon Schneiderlin Guly Dickson Barnard Ox- Chamberlain Subs: Bart, Seaborne, Lambert, Hammond, Mills, Connolly, Holmes That gives the flexibility to be 4-5-1 with Oxo moving out to the wing, Guly in the hole and Barnard up front. egreog Posted 16 September, 2010 Share Posted 16 September, 2010 Another defeat beckons against Colchester on Saturday.......but what I just don't get is this "low confidence " stuff that keeps getting churned out. These are supposedly among the best players in League 1 , or so we are constantly told!........they were bookies favourites to stroll this league a few weeks ago!..........now their confidence has gone!..........well sorry but in my view there is no leadership on the pitch, no grit, no will to win, and a strained relationship with the fan base that AP's sacking hasn't helped. Weird!
