Good Luck Marian!

Isn't that the club we signed him from?

Best of luck anyway Marian. Once of my favourite ever players at Saints. A joy to watch and such a shame that his injury record deprived us of even more. Will never forget that magical goal against the Skates, and getting out of his sick bed to play - and score - in the final game against Everton in the great escape season.

Good luck Marian you workshy parasite. It is a shame my memory of you is tarnished by your 'injury' record. The second time the club really needed you (first being Dellhurst etc.) you went missing.

I'm sorry, because you were a great player, but with no bottle.

What an a...hole you are, Perrin.

I'm tolerant of pretty much any view but really? Great escape slipped your mind?

I certainly haven't forgotten the Great Escape - that's what I meant by Dellhurst - in fact, I still have my Fez! Pahars role was crucial no doubt.

Don't get me wrong, Pahars was a legend in the early years at Saints, but for me it was soured by the last five years where, by all accounts he was a sick note.

Read Strachan's opinions - "Pahars has also caught every virus going except a computer virus and he is probably working on that even now.", "Pahars has another bug. I'm sure he goes round all the local hospitals trying to find them. I've never known anyone like him."

Although he did have some genuine injuries (hernia, ankle etc.) the view seems to be he was a bit of a shirker.

When we were relegated Pahars had a real chance against weaker opposition to spring us back again. Instead he went missing. Missing when we needed him most.

So my view is that he sucked wages out of the club for five years with little return (at a time when we couldn't afford it), all the while we were hoping he'd come back this time; no this time; no definitely this time....

Save the Pompey goal in 2003, basically Pahars was great in 1999 - 2001. From then until 2006 though, he was absent.

Like I say, I disagree with him being a legend because for me, he didn't try hard enough.

Pahars not great after 2001? WTF. This guy cared more about Saints than 5 other players put together (with very few exceptions in the past 20 years). Sucked wages out? Definitely his fault that he got scythed down in pre-season. The club has insurance to cover long term injuries. Pahars wanted to carry on on a pay as you play deal (he might have struggled to eat) but our far-sighted manager at the time did not want to even discuss it.

Scored at the Bridge, Anfield, Old Trafford...... Not a legend? Idiot

I am afraid I am in Alain's camp too. Absolutely brilliant for us for three seasons but then sat back and enjoyed life at our expense.

Just read about this news. I'm absolutely delighted. There's a good article about his new role from Saints fan Chris Mann here http://equaliserfootball.com/2011/01/13/pahars-skonto/#more-3076 It explains his situation nicely.

Imagine how wonderful it would be for Marian to become a hugely successful manager, who goes onto manage us to success. Sweeeeeeeet.
