alpine_saint Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Extremely proud, touched with a bit of disappointment since we gave that game away. In the 60th minute we started playing backwards, FFS. And the substitutions were baffling. If we had kept going at them, it would have stayed 1-0 or been 2-0. The referee was a t*sser in the second half. He blew everything for them. Funny how 4mins injury time becomes exactly 4mins with him when Manyoo are leading. 28,433 attendance. Poor. ToreSF Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Great display! We sure have som good players, and a great manager. Good job by Adkins to make our side look confident against Man Yoo. Think we have a bright future if we can hold on to Cortese and Adkins.

docker-p Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 (edited) Played really well. Hats off to NA and the whole team. Chaplow and Harding need a mention in dispatches, but very good performance all round. We could have pulled it off on another day. alpine_saint Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 I was really impressed with our quality of play AND fight for the first hour. After that everything went wayward for 15mins until we woke up again.

Tom28 Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Chappers and Schneiderlin were absolute class. Really class. For as long as they play for Southampton I will never utter a bad word about either of them ever again.
Window Cleaner Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 I thought we matched them for 65 minutes.Expected a bit more from Ox and Guly and Dickson was poor when he came on.All in all we were pretty good though. If only we'd had something more from the bench we might have held on.

JackFrost Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Thought it was the perfect result today if I'm honest. If we'd have won you just know we'd have turned up against Peterborough with the "we beat man u we can beat anyone in this league easily without effort" attitude and lost. Chaplow was sensational today and his goal summed up his performance. Only negatives really was Guly occasional sloppyness and Lambert looking spent after 55 mins. We produced a fantastic performance without Lallana against Man Utd, the first half I genuinely thought we were the better team. It's a result and an encouraging performance that will be a big confidence boost, but won't let complacency creep in aND WE CAN NOW CONCENTRATE ON THE LEAGUE 100% Thank you caps lock, I really can't be bothered to change that

Wildgoose Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Good performance. Not impressed with the referee, makes me cross how everything goes the way of the Prem side......proud of Saints, we did well but just began to tire after the first hour or so. Glad there is no replay and in a way glad we didn't win cos of the fixture pile up. Let's ensure auto promotion now!

yorkie Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Bonuses - not risked Hammond or Lalanna, no cards and no injuries! I thought second half we were second best - but for all that United were pretty tame going forward. Onwards to Exeter - Cherries (silly name) only managed a draw today...still 4th! Promotion always No.1 priority - but a nice day at SMS against the Champions elect...still it would have been nice to win!
VectisSaint Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Thought the lads did really well, result in the end was what I predicted so no surprise, but disappointed that we gifted them 2 goals. Had to laugh at WGS who reckoned it was down to us being knackered, when the major gaff was by a player fresh off of the bench. Interesting watching the last 5-10 minutes when it was blindingly clear that we were not going to try and get an equaliser. Might have been different if we had held on to 1-1, I think we would have gone gung-ho and either won or lost. 1-2 against Manure, no disgrace for a 3rd Div side, and we were by far the better footballing side in the 1st half. Harding and Chappers were outstanding. Right, now for the League
HK_Phoey Posted 29 January, 2011 Share Posted 29 January, 2011 Don't get to see to many games here. Very proud. Thought Chaplow, Harding and Fonte were absolutely brilliant. Thought we threw it away in the end, far to casual. Cant believe the commentators here though said it "ended up being fairly comfortable for United in the end". What game were they watching? Really ****es me off here.
