ladysaint Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 Doing well since joining Bmouth as Manager not lost yet, hope he is prepared for Saturday. Remember all the stories when he played for the skates about him being a Saints supporter and having a Saints tattoo on his neck, no truth in it though. benjii Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 I reckon Bournemouth will be ****e on Saturday, completely bottle it and we will win 3-1 or something like that. I honestly don't think they are anything special and reckon they will finish behind us, Peterborough and maybe Huddersfield too. Fair play to them for massively overachieving anyway though. Appy Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 Maybe he was the Poyet to Dennis Wise at Leeds? Everyone thought it was Eddie but really it was Lee all along? I'm pretty sure he wasn't his assistant. Jason Tindall was.
jam Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 Maybe he was the Poyet to Dennis Wise at Leeds? Everyone thought it was Eddie but really it was Lee all along? No, I think Mel Machin set something long term up there. Howe there under Machin and then O'Driscoll (who Machin brought through as manager) and it seems that their good spells (both in terms of quality of football and success) have been under these people. dubai_phil Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 We won't stand a chance. Mitchell will have assembled all the Dark Forces and will be leading the team in a voodoo worship ceremony before the game. (you know that was a voodoo tattoo don't you) Shouldn't even turn up, we'll just embarrass ourselves and then we'll never hear the last of it from Boscombe boys

I think they are building this game up much more than Saints are. They see it as a very very special day, the chance to beat "them up the road" and I think the pressure might tell on them. Besides, they have to lose under Bradbury at some point, and at home too ! COYS !

THis is a massive game, but its much bigger for them than us, simply because they have built it up so much, lets hope for once it's the opponents that cant handle the pressure of play us. For Saints it's a game against an automatic promotion rival. For Bournemouth it is all sorts of weird and wonderful things. Our record against auto-promoton rivals this season is very good. We have beaten The Cherries twice. We have taken 4 points from Peterborough. We have beaten Huddersfield and lost to Huddersfield. We have draw with Brighton and outplayed them. I think we should all be looking for a win on Saturday, although a draw will also be an ok result.

Deppo Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 He had a tattoo on his arm that said "I (heart) Saints", but he had it changed to "I (heart) Paints" so he couldn't get any stick in the Pompey dressing room. He had to keep up the pretense of being a lover of paints, so he would always keep Dulux paint charts in his wallet and would talk to the other players in great detail about how much he loved the 'pale cerise' or the 'misty buff' so that they wouldn't see through his deception. As such, he admits that his time at Portsmouth was really stressful. This is all in his autobiography, which is a great read.
SuperMikey Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 Is the game a sell-out? Was thinking of maybe going and sitting in the home end. Is that too dangerous given the deadly rivalry between our two clubs?

Remember all the stories when he played for the skates about him being a Saints supporter and having a Saints tattoo on his neck, no truth in it though. Agreed B'Mouth have kept their place, but most of their opposition has been lower teams in the league. They scraped two wins v. Swindon and two v. Plymouth (which will be 6 points expunged from their record- if Plymouth can't play out the season.) They are good at home, but only got a single goal win over Brighton and a draw v. Huddf'd...apart from that they haven't showed any real class in games against poor opposition. Saturday will really be the battle of the South Coast because the side that wins will have one foot in CCC for next season.

ladysaint Posted 6 March, 2011 Author Share Posted 6 March, 2011 Out of interest which part is untrue, the tattoo (which I heard was on his arm),or that he was not even a Saints fan ? If I can remember righly I think they said that he had a Saints tattooed on his neck but not enitrely sure about this, but he definitely doesnt have any tattoos so I have been told by one of his family members. Apparently the story goes that a couple of skates made him strip once to check out whether he had any Saints related tattoos.
SFC Forever Posted 6 March, 2011 Share Posted 6 March, 2011 The winners of our derby with the fruits could be the downfall of the vivtors if it is them. They might just start to relax and come a cropper. Won't matter cos we'll win by the usual score.

georgeweahscousin Posted 7 March, 2011 Share Posted 7 March, 2011 Lee was definitely a Saints fan growing up, but has no Saints related tattoos as far as I am aware. I believe he was made to strip in a the toilets of a Pompey nightclub to check for tattoos!
Barry the Badger Posted 7 March, 2011 Share Posted 7 March, 2011 Saturday will really be the battle of the South Coast because the side that wins will have one foot in CCC for next season. I do think we are placing too much on this... Yes it's an important game but there's such a long way to go and it will only give one team a 3 point advantage in theory, which is nothing really with more than 10 games left. I certainly don't think the team that wins this match will feel they have one foot in the CCC.
