Look at Bournemouth for inspiration...

For those that think a change of manager or a returning manager can't freshen the place up or turn things around need only to look down the road at Bournemouth

Since Eddie Howe returned he has a record of P5 W4 D1.....not a bad start is it?

Compared to Paul groves P20 W3 D11 L6

Yours is a great example of the effect different managers can have on the same group of players.

Example :

Since Mourinho Chelsea have had :

Avram Grant

Scolari

Wilkins (caretaker)

Hiddink

Ancelotti

Vilas Boas

Di Matteo (present)

Mostly kneejerk appointments and guys with big reputations and salaries !

Basically nobody has improved the situation since Jose (I do realise that Di Matteo presided over the jammy CL win !) and the merry go round will continue unless they win a couple of trophies each year !

IMO there is no evidence that regular change is better than stability and it is (for sure!) a helluva lot more costly !

No we should not get a new manager in because that is the worst thing we could do.

We should keep the good bond that NA has with all the players because team spirit and all that are far more important

when we get relegated. The fact that some of our best players will go and we will start over again gets forgotten, as long as we don't rock the boat

we'll be alright. Right?

Ancelotti won the League and FA Cup double!

I concur with the other posters, B'mouth should be challenging at the top with their wage bill. Apparently they are covering Barney's contract fully - £14k a week. That's a heck of a lot of cash for any Lge 1 club, nevermind one that has gates of 5/6k.

Er, we already did that 3 years ago, do keep up.

If you like I can dig out Redknapp's record with Saints, or Stuart Gray's, or Dodd and Gorman's, or even Wotte's for that matter. That's a hell of a selective memory you have. To take it outside Saints managers, how about Terry Cooper's awesome turnaround when Mick McCarthy got the boot at Wolves last season ?

Eddie and Steve were career-long Bournemouth players who are in charge of a squad that has clearly been underachieving this season but includes several players that got promotion under them and they themselves enjoy a status at the (considerably smaller) club that means that players react differently.

It's the typical situation in football where people only work in certain places and conditions. Eddie did not get on as well at Burnley as clearly never looked comfortable.

I think neither of our relatively successful ex-managers would fit the current situation.

I do so love profound conclusions being drawn from a statistical sample of 1.
