"No, I have no interest in playing for one of the biggest teams in the world, I'd much rather stay at this much smaller club that I'd never heard of before the summer".

Let's not kid ourselves. Some players may like it here, and give 100% because they are professional, but they are not in love with the club.

He will never play for Man United.

Ok fair opinion but, when he first turned up, he genuinely reminded me of Rio in that he looked like a player who read the game well and was willing to bring the ball forward. Admittedly his form since made me question what the heck i'd been thinking BUT I still think he has shown glimpses of potential. First season in a new league, two different managers, ever changing poor goalkeeping, a defence getting hammered and a side under pressure. See how he does next year ;)

Behave, he's a competent centre back for us and I like him, but if you think he's the same level as Vidic, Kompany etc then you're on another planet.

Professional footballer in "playing for man u would be a dream come true" shocker.

How many of us would jump at the chance to work for consistently the best company in their respective industries, especially one as successful as man u?

Hold on you know I did not say he was on that level. I do feel he showed some promise though. He'l never be a Vidic type beast of a cb but an effective reader of the game and somebody comfortable enough to play it out from the back more in the mould of Ferdinand, possibly though it has to be said he's got a long long way to go ...

Yeah it's obvious but that doesn't make it sensible, same way you wouldn't, or at least shouldn't let your girlfriend hear about the hotter women you'd like.

This. Dream about united all you want, but be professional and keep it to your self. As stated above, I highly doubt people would appreciate the same kind of honesty if it came from Schneiderlin or someone else more valuable to the team.

If Morgan said I'd like to play champions league, the national side etc if I could do that all with soton great but ... I think that'd be fair enough!

You can argue its not smart to be so vocal about such opinions but we shouldn't kid ourselves, most players want to go to bigger clubs (if we don't become a bigger club ourselves short-term). This is also good, this gives them the ambition to get better every day. If you have players that are content and do not have an inner drive to perform day-in-day-out you become QPR.

I'm really suspecting that people think it's ok, because it's "only" Yoshida. What if it was Ramirez or Boruc who said the same thing? I think it's an unprofessional answer.

Actually I think it is the epitomy of a professional answer. If he had answered in any other way then I would have probably thought lying git.

....and look where he ended up .....so what 's the next move, now that Lee isn't here anymore ....and his mate is at O.T.....is someone going to suggest ...a swap ?

There was an interview in a Dutch newspaper a few weeks ago where he commented on his situation. He was very happy how things were going. It was always going to be a big step from Vitesse to Man Utd and so far he is happy with the games he has played and knows that if he keeps improving he'll get more chances next year.

Now you can argue he would have been better off at Saints but to condemn a player for just not choosing Saints is too easy. Its not like he went to Russia or Qatar to fill his wallet.

You have to consider the cultural aspect here as well. Japanese hate to say no or be seen to be negative about something, worried about causing offence. The journalist probably worded it carefully, to which he said something like "why not, they are a great club". On the other hand, of course he would like to play for Man U, I expect most of our players would if they were given the chance.

he would love to play for man utd if given the opportunity, as would virtually every player in the team.

that said, maya is loving life at southampton and is enjoying playing for us. in particular he likes that the fans are really supportive of the team and not negative (which means he probably doesn't read this forum). the passion of english fans was one of the reasons he came here in the first place. the only negative is the limescale that builds up in the kettle, he isn't used to hard water.

that's all itk info (a capitalsaint first), you're welcome.

I dont like that statement just as much as I would not like to hear MP say that one day he would like to manage Real Madrid. He probably does, however, I hope he chooses not to make that statement whilst under the employ of this club.

That sort of comment is so fecking disrespectful to the club he is presently playing for.

It's people like you getting all upset by an honest answer that have caused all sports interviews to be dull standard response bull****.

Would you prefer that he lied?

That is a problem. We went through a number of kettles before paying a bit more for a kettle that filters the water before it reaches the bottom. it lasted much longer so had a postive effect, it also provided great ROI as although it cost twice as much as a normal kettle it lasted around 4 times longer. I'm sure Yoshida will appreciate this snippet of advice as he adjusts to English culture and water.
