Donnie has had another SMART IDEA;

If a US citizen buys a US made car on finance, they will be allowed to deduct the interest payments from their income tax liability. How much of a car has to be manufactured in the US to qualify as "US made" has not been revealed.

That's a non-starter because the tariffs are raising so much money that they are abolishing income tax. Remember?!

I can't work out whether his primary problem is that he's delusional, stupid, or dishonest. He's certainly all of them though. 

In no other place than his head is a trade deficit losing money or being ripped off.

For a man who prides himself on “the art of the deal” he doesn’t seem to have the slightest idea of how business and trade actually works.

I guess in normal times a lot of English & European fans, myself included, would be interested in going to the USA for World Cup games.
Games in Canada and Mexico might be an option but trying to overcome the challenges of US Immigration and other decisions that $Trump makes along the way will surely put off a lot of people.

I was definitely planning to go but fuck that. Not because of immigration fears just don’t want to give any of my money to their economy

Personally I think a free trade deal with the US would be hugely beneficial to the UK.  We're a lower wage, cheaper country so would benefit in that sense and the noise about chlorinated chicken I think is a bit of red herring as that's not something the British public will actually buy into imo.

If KS manages to wipe off the majority of tariffs, surely he'll gain a few points 😂

You would think he would get some credit, but given the negativity from some quarters about the India deal I wouldn’t hold your breath. God knows where the Brexiteers thought we were going to do trade deals with after leaving the EU?

The Tories had plenty of time to come up with these deals. Good to seem them finally happening.

Couldn’t agree more. It would be great to tell Trump where to stick his tariffs, but now that we are out of the EU we need to deal with these people.

I'm just amazed that on the day we had the trade deal, a new Pope, VE day, nuclear war kicking off in Kashmir and a cut in interest rates, they still managed to get this onto the BBC's main news page.

So, genuine question and appreciate it's probably a complex answer but does this deal put us in a better position than we were say a year ago before the imposition of tariffs, or is it just mitigating the worst effects of the tariffs and still leave us in a worse position than we were before Trump?

Don’t know enough but glowing PR for UK from Trump. Makes me hate just a little bit less - I’m a sucker for a bit of flattery.

is it great PR if it comes from Trump?  I think Mark Carney can testify to the benefits of not being endorsed by Trump.

Yeah, that wasn't really my point, it was more on whether anyone takes what Trump says seriously.  Starmer has probably done a reasonable deal under the circumstances.

Seeing as he also has Peruvian citizenship, it's probably just as likely that Trump has deported him to that huge vatican super prison.

Apparently last Saturday night one of the Florida TV stations near Mara Lago showed the film Escape from Alcatraz. On Monday Donnie announced its reopening as a prison. What a coincidence. 

Always great to have a long term, well thought out strategy.
