Amazing how effective glue traps can be. However, a kingfisher is the next project, this is a nuthatch.

Of course it is. How stupid of me. Going down the tree head first is a giveaway. Unless you’ve mounted it upside down.

Random questions; there is a Raptor rescue based near Blackburn, where they look after and display owls, hawks, and eagles. They were visited by a DEFRA official to check on their bird flu precautions. They were a bit puzzled by the question "Do you get much trouble with porcupines ?"

Reruns of top of the pops from the 90s. Women were so much hotter back then. Far less fakery. Even Jo Wiley looks hot presenting it, I forgot she was quite a sort back then

Stories like this;

Apparently, having just been elected Pope, Francis rang home to Argentina to tell his family. The phone was answered by one of his nephews, "Who is this ?" the nephew asked, "It's your uncle, you knob-head" came the Pontiff's reply.

We have definitely lost a decent Pope. I don’t believe in Catholicism but he seems the best in my lifetime and seems to have made an impact on everyone he met. Probably should’ve posted on the religion thread but that seems to be clogged with desperate back and forths with no discussion whatsoever

Pope Francis created a large number of new Cardinals during his Papacy, and obviously this is their first Conclave. It has been reported that a number of them have been watching the Ralph Fiennes movie to find out what happens.

Just returned from a session at my Thursday lunchtime watering hole. They sell freshly made pizza on Thursdays. On the menu today were VE Day specials comprising of - spam, tomatoes, onions and peas. Sadly no dried egg!

Gary Lineker finally leaving the BBC. Will now finally be safe to tune in to BBC coverage - can't stand the man.

Never really got people's dislike for him.

Good footballer in his day. Pretty articulate and intelligent (for a former footballer). Seems to stand up for what he feels is morally right. Is clearly well liked by people he works with.

Yes, he's well paid and perhaps comes across a little smug at times (I probably would too in his shoes), but on balance I'd say he's definitely one of the top pundits on TV and a shame to lose from MoTD.

His 'rat' post was very obviously just a silly mistake which clearly had zero intention of causing offence, and something he immediately retracted and fully (and genuinely) apologised for once he'd realised.

Anyway, back to the little things that bring me joy. I slept through the night last night without having to get up and do a wee (until 6am at least). A small win in life these days.

It’s is largely to do with the media constantly doing hit jobs on him because his political views don’t align with theirs. Quality presenter but far from irreplaceable.

For me it was his ignorant, patronising comments following the just stop oil protests at Silverstone a few years ago, when he basically implied he didn't care about putting lives in danger because it was for the greater good. Don't care what his opinions on Israel are.

Kelly Cates looks amazing for 49 even if you get glimpses of her dad at times
