Good to see the crowds out to celebrate. I liked it when Kelly said the other night "I'm so proud to be English", not too often you hear that nowadays, although to some she'll be considered 'far right'.

Not sure about the choice of music from the band though.

Shame they aren't letting the crowd from along the Mall into the road in front of the stage now the bus has gone. Makes it look a little bit bare when there's actually a lot of people turned up.

Edit; ah ok now they're letting them through.

It's refreshing listening to these girls speak. Top level male footballers are so heavily media-trained these days that they all just sound like robots. But the Lionesses all seem to be so much more relaxed and genuine.

People that organise these things really don't know what they're doing. Should be a day long event on the weekend in a big open space somewhere with bars, food stalls, rides and play areas for kids, a VIP area on a stage where the players drink and mingle with live music on a separate stage.

Chloe Kelly's off her face 😂

Got to love her, seems a cracking girl. Can see her becoming the face of women’s football for a few years

I liked it when she 'thanked', sarcastically, those (Man City) who doubted her and made her seriously consider packing in football. Karma!!!

Really? I disagree. I think that most reasonable people can tell the difference don’t have a problem with someone expressing a bit of national pride and saying that they are proud of being English, British, Scottish, French, Spanish or whatever. The issue is when that comes with the baggage of racism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, misogyny, homophobia, transphobia etc.

For example, when the likes of the leader of the Reform party, Tommy Robinson or Katie Hopkins use that phrase, you just know that it is loaded and expresses something more than just national pride.

I’m not really sure why you felt the need to mention the “far right” on a thread about women’s football?

Anyway, it was great to see them all enjoying themselves amongst the diverse crowds along the Mall eh?

On another note, the Spanish team don’t seem to be taking defeat very well. So what if they were the better team on the day? It’s all about sticking the ball into the back of the net, and England managed that better than Spain 🏆

Go away and work on your finishing ladies. Better luck next time.

Fucking hell, even more Batman types trawling to find an outlying clickbait view to get worked up about.

Anyone who has a problem with women’s football has a problem with women.

I just really enjoyed seeing them win. Wouldn’t go that far as I’m proud to be English regardless how we do in sports competitions.

I generally hate fucking comparisons though and seem ever rising these days. Was this the best putt of all time, best rally etc? I just enjoy and forget so much. Can say Leah Williamson is a great captain without need to do at expense of others like so many fuckwits want to do.

I have great respect for what those women did but they just can't shut up believing their football is the same level as the mens game. They should enjoy the spoils of the money they generate through sponsors and gate revenue, once they fill the grounds every week and have big TV deals then they will earn the same money as the mens game but it is not right that they get subsidised by the mens game.

Players like Chloe Kelly will now make fortunes on the back of this tournement, ironic as she was not a starter in the later stages of the competition. Superb crosser of the ball and I hope the men learn from her, as for too long our players have chopped back and passed it back rather than cross.

Er, no. Make that the greatest England's women captain of all time, then maybe. I watched Booby Moore and his wonderful team lift the World Cup in 1966. Like the Lionesses, they had English blood coursing through their veins and they dug in against a very good German side and stubbornly refused to lose. Those days were long before the stupid amount of money that footballers get now. After the World Cup, Nobby Stiles said he would happily play for nothing. How many of the pampered prima donnas would say that these days? I am female, adore football and I'm delighted to see young girls having role models like the Lionesses to look up to instead of the Kardashians and their ilk. However, let's get everything into perspective. Women's football and Men's football stand independently of each other, as they should. One doesn't trump (no pun intended) the other in my mind.

Which women's English league is above the wsl? Isn't it the equivalent (same) level as the men's Premier league?
