As soon as women's football is on here come the usual suspects with the usual remarks. Women's football is women's football and men's football is men's football and never the twain shall meet. Vive la difference.

I agree. As long as the media don't try to equate the two or anything like that then I'm more than happy to celebrate the two separate things.

which is exactly the point i've making by the usual suspects dont seem to be able to understand. Unless you're frothing at the gash about then you're being negative and making the usual remarks 😂

I do understand a certain amount of piggybacking off the wildly popular men's game. Smart marketing is to have a link in some way because much of the interest will come from the historic value placed in the men's game so your local team, the England national team and all their symbols etc. I can support all that, it's just an irritant when people don't make the distinction or seem to think they're the same thing when they're not.

If the women's football happens to be on I can find myself having a watch and taking an interest and it will provide me with some entertainment if I see the England women's team win a tournament. It is entirely separate though and I think that's where a lot of the resentment comes from.

Anyone who is resentful because women's football is associated with men's football needs therapy.

Who says they're the same thing? Whenever I see coverage it is always clearly labelled as WSL or whatever.

Mentioned in the comments I was replying to.

I dont think a single person is resentful. The issues are self inflicted by the promotion of it. As has been mentioned on this thread, the level of womens football is miles below that of mens and you'd have to be an absolute idiot to suggest otherwise. Yet as also mention on this thread we have seen Ellen White listed alongside Harry Kane and Rooney as Englands top all time scorer, that is absolutely ridiculous and does the womens game no favours

Like womens athletics and tennis keep it seperate and enjoy it for what it is. The problem is there are certain people that take it very personally if anyone dares to suggest this.

Maybe resentment is the wrong word. I can see why people get frustrated when it's continually equated as being the same thing.

News channels often do it, stats are equated together (England's top goalscorer frequently includes the women, record wins etc) loads of times I've clicked on a link showing for example man city playing only to realise it was women's football and had failed to be labelled as such. Female pundits are invited on to talk about using their experience to tell us how male players will be feeling when it's not remotely comparable. One smaller bugbear for me is that sky sports live score centre have put the women's tables next to the Premier league one and above all other men's leagues so I have to continually scroll past it to get to the men's scores that I actually want to view.

Like I said it's not some high crime but I can see why it causes a build up of irritation over time.

Do people get irritated by the promotion of other sports they don't like or watch?

Stop using Sky Sports Live Score Centre if it bugs you so much, there's plenty of apps / places to get men's football results.

I cannot fathom people that go out of their way to moan so much about things they could easily avoid.

It’s either the same sport, or it isn’t.

Either way it’s nonsense. Dave from The Dog & Duck wouldn’t get far as co commentator & John McEnroe wouldn’t be employed as a Rugby league expert. They only get the gig because they’re chicks, an incredibly patronising and sexist reason.

I’d imagine If you don’t like golf, you’d be pretty annoyed if Nick Faldo was analysing Ben Stokes poor shot at Lords. Especially, when there’s literally thousands of cricketers better qualified to do so.

Yes I suppose I could do that but I've been using it for years and am a creature of habit so it was an unnecessary thing to change. Like I said though that's a very minor personal irritation but there's a few there so I can see why people get a bit annoyed about the pushing of certain agendas.

Yeah, if you have serious issues

There's a thread on one of the forums here called something like small things that irritate you and it's packed full of little annoyances like that. I assume you think that every person on there has serious issues too? Like I said, it's not going to change my life either way but given the choice I'd rather things like that didn't happen.

It's funny coming from aintforever, whenever there is a chance to show what a lovely person you are it's a race between him and a couple of other serial virtue signallers to be the first to post how great it all is. One might suggest people doing this might also have serious issues.

I know not the point you are making but both athletics and tennis are integrated so you buy a ticket at Wimbledon you get to watch and enjoy both, same at athletic events. I am broadly with you the marketing is OTT and think it grates with some because it is relatively new to an established men’s game.

Bit like rugby for me - will watch Six Nations and World Cup but never going to be interested in watching a Harlequins league game.

What case?

All you’ve done is claim the usual suspects making the usual comments. Which comments are you referring to? What’s the implication you’re making by your claim? What counter points do you have against the “usual remarks”?

make a case before resting it. All you’ve done is make a brash statement
