Martin had the opportunity to manage us in the Premier League.  He had the opportunity to take us to the heady heights of the Europa League.  He failed.  Miserably.

The Europa League games for Rangers were despite Martin, not because of him.  Literally any manager they chose to manage the team at the start of last season would have been 'managing in a Europa League game'.  Any manager.  Even Wayne Rooney had they chosen him.

FWIW I think much of the hate RM gets on here is unwarranted but to argue that he didn't fail with us is ridiculous. Sure, he did his job and got us promoted but 13 defeats from 16 games is failure, whether you like it or not.

Yeah that’s fair. Not denying the PL was a total failure. But I’d argue just as much as the promotion wasn’t down to him solely neither was the relegation.

I'd argue that Martin did make a difference in those early Rangers Europa games. There was RussBall on show as his hastily put together side progressed. 

It's one of the big reasons they brought him in. Even so, those games were really early on.

Plenty of Scottish sides are ignominiously dumped out of European competition. Martin offered a way of having a system that operated against technically better sides, through his possession.

They did get hammered by Brugge. They were outclassed, went down to 10 men and imploded. Plenty of player errors to look at, along with Martin.
