We are dealing with a legend here....albeit the whole left hand side of Archers Road got prepared to duck when our Francis hoofed it up to the forwards! No, Baz is as bad as anyone I can remember in goal for us. He doesn't make absolute howlers like letting the ball roll through his legs but he never saves anything and that must destabilise the defence knowing there is no last line of defence. 1
saintant Posted 13 hours ago Posted 13 hours ago 1 hour ago, SaintsBarry74 said: You don’t see many outright howlers from Baz, but his shot-stopping is genuinely non-league level, and that isn’t hyperbole. The data backs it up: this is an unheard-of level of sustained underperformance for this level. He has ranked as the worst shot-stopper in every league he’s played in, even when compared with opposition second- and third-choice keepers. You and I must watch different games 🙂 1
Mboto Gorge Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago (edited) At this stage i am wondering just how bad George Long is, to not even be knocking on the door for a place on the bench. Not even a polite tap on the door. He must be epically bad if our national league level first choice keeper is seemingly undroppable for him. Edited 12 hours ago by Mboto Gorge
dsrdorset Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Bazunu is a liability. We desperately need to sign a new keeper in January. 3

Every other club he'd been at said as much. This is why some were so absolutely pissed that we got him in the Summer, people saying he's 'fine for third choice' were completely missing the point. We didn't need a third choice, we already had that third choice (McCarthy/Bazunu), we needed someone to push those. It was obvious to everyone bar a small subset of people, and the idiots who have brain farts at our club. Edited 12 hours ago by S-Clarke 8

As I've said before if you have a defence that can, shall we say, have its moments and look awful and panic at the slightest little set back you need a keeper behind them who gives them that bit extra confidence back.........Bazunu is not that keeper.
Lord Duckhunter Posted 11 hours ago Posted 11 hours ago I might be going soft in my old age, but I don’t particularly blame Baz for either goal yesterday. I’m surprised people are, as performances go that was one of Baz’s better efforts (admittedly, a very low bar). Id have liked him to have come and claimed the initial cross for the second, but I’m not sure too many keepers would have nowadays. Maybe he should have been braver once it was knocked in, and instead of diving sideways could have cleaned ball, man and Wood out. That’s probably being over picky, but it would be nice for him to make an unexpected save once in a while…. 2
Badger Posted 10 hours ago Posted 10 hours ago Wonder how bad, or what Bazunu has to do, for Tonda to drop him and bring McCarthy back. 1

I highly doubt that, seeing as we hardly win a header in our box, and concede loads of golden chances from the opposition crossing into our box. Bazunu is just shit at commanding his area and claiming crosses so stays on his line and hopes for the best from our CBs 5

I just find it ridiculous that he even gets picked over McCarthy, who even though Is well past his best now, has historically been a solid premier league level keeper before, has far more experience and confidence, is a better shot stopper and just provides more security in the back line. There’s no way Baz is getting picked over him based on performances and ability. It’s all this pathway shit that this club is obsessed with providing for him based on forking out way too much money on him 4 years ago. And it’s costing us big time Edited 8 hours ago by Mboto Gorge 3

And if not, loan him out to a lower league and take the hit on the bulk of the wages for the 12 months.
bangkoksaint Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago This together with not getting promoted and probably losing a few our better players will see a significant downturn in ST renewals. I genuinely think a lot of people have had enough and with a tougher financial climate on the horizon this will a step too far by SR 2
Morse Posted 2 hours ago Posted 2 hours ago I presume we have a goalkeeping coach, what the fuck is he coaching him ?
saintant Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago 12 minutes ago, Morse said: I presume we have a goalkeeping coach, what the fuck is he coaching him ? He'll have worked his way through a number of goalkeeping coaches who will have tried and failed to teach him the basics. Another reason to call time on his tenure and bring in an actual goalkeeper. 1

Sadly not, they’ll keep flogging a dead horse with their ‘investment’. Although whether SR and us (eg Saints) have by separate identity any more is seriously open to question and extending Bazunu’s contract would bury any last ambiguity. God forbid Rasmus could ever admit to a mistake. If he thinks Gavin is that great, why not extend the contract and loan him to Goztepe for 4 years on full wages? Nah, I didn’t think he’d want to do that either. So why he is inflicting him on Saints fans who have suffered so much under SR when all it takes is ‘I made a mistake there’ and put it right?
