Surely AM has to be back in goal for the next game. I don’t think I can take much more of this guy. It’s beyond a joke.

Mccarthy also gives the defenders more confidence and organisation. It must have an effect having the hapless Baz behind you passively on his goal line.

I am reliably told that he is currently stalling on a new contract offer from the club. 😂

Hopefully because his agent has advised he can get him a better offer from Barnsley or Orient.

Perhaps the initiative to get rid of him should come from the terraces. Yes, counterproductive jeering our own players, but questionable if this would cause him a drop off in form to lose us more points than he already is.

You're forgetting that stats don't mean anything if they don't align with a certain viewpoint...

They just don't mean anything.  They are randomly invented. We can only speculate as to the purpose behind the anonymous entities that generate them.

If they were genuine (hint: they aren't) then there would be more information about the deviation and confidence interval in the results.

The fact that Baz keeps finding himself right at the bottom of these tables season after season kinda pisses on your argument that they are just random.

I like you, but this is an utterly mental take.

I'm not stupid enough to discount that sometimes a player just doesn’t “fit” at a club and they underperform but in this instance, both stats and the eye test have continually proven Bazunu to be utter shite on a consistent basis.

And I’m fairly sure if I clubbed together statistically the worst performers in any league and put them in a team, that team wouldn’t do very well in the league.

What about what you see with your eyes? Like for example he was at fault for Oxfords winner, Birminghams goal and 2 out of 4 on sunday. So basically 4 of our last 7 goals have been Baz errors. Here's a stat that proves what our eyes tell us. He conceded 4 goals from 5 shots on sunday, the only one he saved he palmed it out directly to their striker who scored from that. How anyone can defend him beggars belief.

Er... no he wasn't.  You and others have decided that he was. But he wasn't.

You're too hooked on figures and ratios. When any team is thrashed 4-0 it's never one player's fault.

Because the tables that you and your accolytes quote are those that you have selected. Other tables are available.  And different.

Thanks for the compliment.  These days you have to take what you can.

He's only "utter shite" in the eyes of a certain selection. A minority selection come to that. I read through some reports of the Middlesbrough game and Bazunu wasn't mentioned once other than in "our poor defending".

I found one a few days ago. But like all the others it was so full of random numbers that it was meaningless.

I see what I see and the figures and ratios back that up, not over 1 game, 5 games or 10 games, not over a season but over 3 seasons.

I know it's not good form to quote myself, but I can't stop watching this and wondering how the fuck he managed to let this in. Watch his right hand - if he'd just left it where it was the ball would have hit it.

What the actual fuck was he doing? That movement of his right hand was almost Grobelaar-esque 🤨

He has let a few in this season alone that went across the line in the middle of the goal.

literally Oxford away was the most recent

such an appalling keeper

he is easily best of the 3 keepers we have in the squad, so there's 2 worse straight away. He's not niemi class but he is as good as most of our former keepers, probably about as good as beasant was, or pj. The flak he gets is unbelievable - every single goal is put down as his fault even though our style of play creates easy chances for our opponents. I can't remember the last goal that was his fault, even the fumble the other week was caused by an offside player.

Forget Damion Downs, forget Guido Carrillo, Ali Dia, Lee Todd, Richard Dryden, Zoltan Liptak, Ollie Lancashire, Lloyd James etc etc. I have NEVER seen a Saints player in any position as utterly inept at his job as this fella.

I’m sure we can all dredge up reserves who barely ever featured (did 4past ever even play?) as examples of at least theoretically worse players but for a player that has represented us really quite a lot (2.5 seasons now albeit broken up a bit) YES. Easily.

Saying Gavin Bazunu is the best keeper we have really is a low bar.
Baffling those that still defend him.

To be fair you did mention Zoltan liptak so I bit... But I don't disagree with what you are trying to say - he's definitely the worst player I've seen that has had a significant run in the team.

What makes it worse is despite being young he's not improved one bit.

Fair point re Liptak. 😀

I'll say it one last time, his position is off, a long way off, he stands in odd places when a team has the ball and is attacking, he stays about four yards off his line and doesn't move, even if they don't score it is wrong, he doesn't narrow angles, he did some dancing stuff for one of Middlesborough's goals.

He doesn't play like or look like a professional goalie playing professional football.

I looked better and I was rubbish.

He is a very, very, very poor goalie and I played in goal from the age of 13 until 45 a rubbish standard but I had rubbish standard defenders in front of me. I sort of learned how to play in goal and even though I was a bit crap I knew what I was supposed to be doing in situations.

This goalie looks like he is making it up every attack.

He has a lot of weaknesses but of them all his positional sense is the worst of them
