david in sweden Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 .......front ..! Will we see any activity at all in the transfer market? Maybe an Academy lad going on loan for a month or two... but no-one seems to have any rumours about ....anyone. Shall we get this Dutch centre-forward, or ?. we need a bit more muscle up front, and some more cover in defence. It's still a long way to May! ALWAYS_SFC Posted 28 January, 2009 Share Posted 28 January, 2009 (edited) Don`t fret we will soon buy/loan a "highly rated" and a "sought after by prem clubs" young promising striker who chose us over the other larger clubs because he "likes the set up" and has heard great stories about our coaching style that gives youngsters a chance... Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 The transfer window could turn out to be an anti-climax as far as players coming in are concerned. The loan window doesn't expire until March so, even if we miss the Feb 2nd window deadline, we'll still be able to loan players in. I guess the real question will be if anyone leaves SMS permanently...

Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Kevin Kyle's just been released by Coventry. Not surprised at that. They don't want him because they have to pay the next part of his fee if he plays for them again (much like us with Alan McLoughlin a few years ago). So that's an unwanted player, not necessarily of Championship quality but going for free? Sound perfect - welcome to Southampton Kevin!!!!! Almost hope there isn't, as we can't afford any more mouths to feed. Quite likely that we will sell Dyer/Lallana or Surman in the next few days. We have to cut costs. Master Bates Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Now Skacel's gone, I mean going Wotte added: "There might be some news about arrivals and departures before Monday, but we will not announce anything before it's 100% certain. It's more important for me to focus on the players that are here and focus on Swansea."
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Well it looks like Skacel is off according to the Beeb. If so, it frees up a bit of cash for someone to be brought in. Maybe.
buctootim Posted 29 January, 2009 Share Posted 29 January, 2009 Sounds like Skacel is taking so long to sign that he is holding up other moves in. There's a certain familiarity about that.

Greenridge Posted 30 January, 2009 Share Posted 30 January, 2009 Transfer activity seems to be gathering pace this afternoon including Giles Barnes from Derby to Fulham and James Harper possibly moving from Reading to Boro (implications for Surman?). The Prem activity seems to be hotting up as well, could be an 'interesting' last few days of the window. I think loans ('emergency') are still allowed after the window closes?
