Reform, as usual, coming out with alternative facts. Staffordshire was not "the first Ruk county council ever ever!". It holds that title jointly with 6 others. Hopefully this is the standard for most Reform councillors, and by the next GE people will have had more than enough of them at this level and realise how unsuitable they are as an option for real political power..

Absolutely no way you need to be a monumentally thick cunt to vote for someone like that to run your social services and education.

I had to look this up - not that I doubted you - to make sure it wasn’t a bot tweet but it definitely isn’t https://www.theneweuropean.co.uk/rats-in-a-sack-new-reform-councillor-already-tires-of-dull-and-boring-meetings/

Barry has the same dislike of detail that Farage has, and Boris had. Well done to the planks in Staffs who voted for him.

3 weeks in, 5 councillors down;

https://theweek.com/politics/reform-uks-councillors-are-off-to-a-rocky-start

"Des Clarke resigned from Nottinghamshire County Council just days after being elected, citing "significant changes" to his personal circumstances. Donna Edmunds – elected in Hodnet in Shropshire – has also stepped down, after being suspended from the party just 48 hours after her election for a social-media post about her plans to defect. Andrew Kilburn quit his post in Durham after failing to declare that he worked for the council. Luke Shingler, who was elected in Warwickshire, is now serving as an independent because his RAF job prohibits him from representing a political party. And Staffordshire Reform councillor Wayne Titley resigned for "personal reasons", after posting on social media that the Royal Navy should use a "volley of gunfire" to sink small boats crossing the Channel."

Trouble is, this is only getting reported in newspapers and online sources with readers who can do joined up writing. Or judging by Barry Martin, any kind of legible writing over the age of 8. The tabloids reckon the Tories are holed below the waterline.

I appreciate that most Reform votes come from the lower end of the educational scale, but you would hope that their supporters would have a basic understanding of the English language.

Bit like that with Reform today.

Yes, that was a tag, not a reply. You said I am stalking you, not quite sure how that is classed as stalking, but happy for you to prove me wrong with your usual eloquence, witt and charm. Also not sure where I said you had no right to reply either?

What? You mean there are expert analysts saying you can’t pay less tax, increase benefits and improve public services? What about this back office ‘waste’? Surely if we cull the diversity officers we can rebuild an army to challenge Russia and fix every pot hole?

The potholes are there to slow down the Russian advance.

And in Kent, thats pretty much word for word what Musk and his McDonalds crew sent around for Trump https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2025/jun/02/reform-uk-to-pilot-doge-style-scheme-to-examine-council-spending

Well done Kent, take a bow. You must be so proud.

Ed Davey is spot on at the end. If you’re looking at DOGE and thinking that’s how we get our bins collected and potholes filled, you are learning the wrong lesson.

Unfortunately, Reform’s voters generally didn’t pay much attention either in school or on their apprenticeships. Too boring, a bit like all of the council meetings and forums they’ve cancelled where key decisions need to be made. And boring like Parliament where Farage and Tice never are.

The people who vote for them must have come down in the last shower. Naive doesn’t come close. Who is defining world class FFS? And why would say the IT or computational equivalent Pep Guardiola say decide he wants to do free work experience at Maidstone FC?

1.6m people in Kent, plenty of bank details and benefit records they can plunder/sell to Russian donors, sorry, I meant access.

@sadoldgit there’s some nice places in Sussex who won’t vote for shysters like Reform, I’d move if I were you before their ‘world class’ IT wizards steal your information.

When he’s also a major donor - £200k last summer - a verdict of ‘not worth my time trying to get Reform elected is damning. Lowe sticking the boot into Farage as well.

Apparently he was regarded as the driver behind the recent "professionalisation" of Reform. Without him making them look like normal they would not have been as succedsful in the local elections.

Which is why the likes of the Newcastle North Chair threw it in last weekend in protest at that somewhat increased level of coordination and discipline - you can’t keep a loose coalition mavericks and Tory rejects together intact for very long. Especially when what unites them is all about what they don’t like. I can only imagine what some of the online racism we are now hearing about was like given the type of party they are.

The Reform-Hokey-Pokey continues. Yusuf returns to the cult. Having still been a Tory until recently - even when platforming Reform - he’s used to being a bit confused. He would be converted many times on the way to Damascus.

Absolute mess - and that tweet will be thrown back at them numerous times over the next 3-4 years. Banks probably as their new Chair with more allegedly shady Russian blood money, sorry investment, on board.

What on earth is a man doing being a member of such a racist far right party, a man who describes himself as a British Muslim. Surely Farage would not allow such a person into his clan?

Zia Yusuf himself will need to answer that, but he’s going to find it hard to row back from what he posted on Thursday. Farage wants the organisational skill as does Tice, and he is a clean donor unlike Banks or Candy. However, the tensions with their other MPs were clear from the Burkha question in Parliament and Farage knows full well that the social media wasn’t all from bots, a lot of it will have been from Reform members and voters.

I know, let’s put teenagers, OK one of them is the grand old age of 22, who denies depression exists, lauded Andrew Tate and has posted very racist content that the BNP would have thought twice about, in charge of Adult Social Care. That should get some different results….you can get MPs in their early 20s, but not in positions with this responsibility level still sounding like early teenage incels waiting for their parents to clean up their bedrooms.

I don’t know about this. Reform are much broader than migration if people bother to look - their economics, for instance, which is unfunded balls. But it is a policy structure. It’s one of the main reasons amongst the people which drives me away. It’s their voters who only talk about immigration not the party officials IMO.

The second gentleman saying they’ve gone into councils and it’s shown them up and they don’t know what to do; it’s been all of five minutes. To judge a council’s performance so critically in such a short amount of time screams pre-judged bias.

Plenty of evidence of the chaos they’ve caused in local government already. Would you want IT people in their teens and early 20s accessing your personal information as they seemingly will be in Kent for Reform’s ‘DOGE’ programme?

So a few dodgy tweets and an ageist assumption on competence from a fully grown man making videos to sub 1k people in his basement. Fair play to them for going into public service.

The dodgy tweets are rather a problem when they are meant to be managing Leicestershire’s adult social care budget in one of the most diverse counties in the country. If you’re good enough, you’re old enough but these two are miles away from being good enough to run a bath https://basw.co.uk/about-social-work/psw-magazine/articles/reform-councillors-aged-19-and-22-charge-childrens-and

It also has the serious outcome of probably being unable to scrutinise council officers properly. If you’re going to put lads that age in important positions, at least ensure they’ve got lived experience of being in care etc to draw upon. Just having a couple of random chavs with offensive posts from X isn’t good for anyone.

I don’t like Reform, I get your points especially the lived experience part - that said, how many politicians these days have that? I’d wager not many and that’s probably a big contributing factor to the mess we’re in.

However - I’d personally rather someone like them as opposed to one of the Labour lot, as chances are they’re probably gonna nonce around if they haven’t already.

Or appease barbaric cultures.

Or line their own pockets.

Do anything or stoop to whatever low is required to have some form of power.

Couldn’t give a shit if they’re 20 or 60 accessing my data - I’ve got nothing to hide. Besides, can someone tell me the perfect age to be handing someone’s data?

As always, my assumption (having worked for a council) is that the pushback on this is mainly those who are corrupt or dipped into the public purse themselves in one way of another.

All for officers being held to account, worked for SCC summers and holidays during university 1990s, but it’s the potential selling on of personal data to Reform donors and others that would be a concern for me, with the potential for fraud and identity theft.
