Hence my suggestion to help the 'responsible tax payer'. There are clearly people taking the piss out of the benefits system, some of whom I know of (but am not friends with). Some on here seem to think its ok for the long term unemployed to milk the system on the two child cap point. I dont.

Of course we don't think the unemployed should milk the system - we've all said that benefits need massive reform. The issue is this is not the hill to die on, and unfortunately your ideas are too simplistic, as shown above.

Just letting people fall though the gaps is utterly unacceptable on the back of the fact that people game the system.

So as far as you are concerned, a family unit should contain two full time working parents at all times? Are you aware of the ridiculous cost of childcare? Easily will clear out more than one of those salaries. Why wouldn't the above benefit from the removal of the cap btw?

This is just one scenario - there are a thousand of these different scenarios. Who is going to administer all these different nuances? It's going to take a huge amount of people, doing a huge amount of interviews, to administer these rules, as all these stats just aren't available.

I think I have very much proven my point here.

You cant unilaterally decided you have proven your point!

We disagree thats it. You think its too complicated to stop the long term unemployed milking the system and there are too many negative impacts. I dont.

Milk the system? None of us have got any idea but I am prepared to bet that the vast majority of people on benefits are not milking the system.

Have you ever tried to get benefits?

So you will bet on something you dont know the answer to....

Ive been through this before. My family lived below the poverty line in this country. My pareants refused to take beenfits. We batted through, despite having very little. We were fine and probably taught me the value of money and the need to work hard. In my opinion, that is what is currently lacking in the UK.
