SWLondon Saint Posted Monday at 18:37 Posted Monday at 18:37 After that pinball in the Japan box when they somehow kept it out, they broke and should have made it 2-0 but muffed it. Was thinking 'they'll regret that mess up' but didn't think it would be that quickly!

benjii Posted Monday at 19:06 Posted Monday at 19:06 There could be some serious crowd trouble at some point with the lack of segregation. Inshallah.

Yeah, it was Tanaka of Leeds who won it then gave it away. Sugawara did OK against Vini Jr but Japan got what they deserved I think, they were far too passive after scoring when they should have gone for a second. Reminded me a lot of Southgate-era England actually. 1

Osvaldorama Posted Monday at 19:48 Posted Monday at 19:48 (edited) Was gutted for them at the end. Thought they did really well, but just got tired facing so much quality. Brazil are a bit strange. They have outstanding attack and flair, as you’d expect, but their midfield isn’t what it used to be. Cant see them winning the whole thing.. but you can never really write them off Edited Monday at 19:48 by Osvaldorama 1

The magic definitely gone from Brazil. Used to really look forward to seeing them with players like Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Rivaldo, Cafu, Roberto Carlos, Kaka now aside from one or two it’s a load of average premier league players 5

But they will always have strong squads, and I thought there was just a touch of the old swagger in the second half. But they really are just in the mix with the other top sides these days. 1
die Mannyschaft Posted Monday at 20:34 Posted Monday at 20:34 My cousin in Germany say fans there not impressed with Germany, tactics, team selection, manager, rumours Klopp was taking over. I have asked do German managers in leaques really spy on all teams.
die Mannyschaft Posted Monday at 21:06 Posted Monday at 21:06 Very boring. Extra time or pens anyone?

die Mannyschaft Posted Monday at 21:14 Posted Monday at 21:14 Germany defence found out again. Maybe they dont want to play France.
LiberalCommunist Posted Monday at 21:14 Posted Monday at 21:14 These games are now moving so fast I didn't even realise Almiron has already served his one game ban. The start of the tournament felt so slow, now the games are almost coming round too quick.

SNSUN Posted Monday at 21:16 Posted Monday at 21:16 This could have shades of the Japan game. The underdog scores first and the bigger club somehow scrape a win. But it would he funny if Germany went out.

Is that the actual case? I know little about german football, except that it's about a two horse race most seasons.

Germany defenders are shocking. The old days all players could attack and defend by covering players. Germany been lucky so far and I dont think they have 9 lives this word cup !!

Reminds me of when we used to go up to Wembley with my tyro league team to watch a few England schoolboy matches in the early 70s and seeing a banner with 'England FC' on it. Gave us a chuckle, was that you 😀
skintsaint Posted Monday at 22:46 Posted Monday at 22:46 boooo Germans cert winners of the WC after the last and this performance.

Dark Munster Posted Monday at 22:49 Posted Monday at 22:49 I'd laugh, but Germany will win on penalties anyway. 2
adrian lord Posted Monday at 22:50 Posted Monday at 22:50 (edited) No goalie would go down like that to simulate being fouled because the risks are far too great. Shearer is talking bollox Edited Monday at 22:55 by adrian lord

pingpong Posted Monday at 22:57 Posted Monday at 22:57 Clear contact with the keeper, can't see how anyone can argue with that decision? Are they saying he didn't make contact? Keeper fell, immediately tried to get back up, but his position was off by that stage. If he hadn't have been fouled, he would probably have been in position to catch it no trouble. 3
