exit2 Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Ok going on the pitch was fine but those who chose to run the Burnley end! WTF was the point I spoke to mate of mine who is a copper who said that was classed as a major disorder. If the ref chooses to report it then we might end up with a punishment from the FA. So fine or more points deduction something we can do with out. I have to say I have not seen anything like it for years, especially not being instigated by our own fans and especially at home! What a great advert for our club! http://www.dailyecho.co.uk/news/4320488.Fans_clash_as_Saints_are_relegated/
ericb Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 whilst i think the fans that went for burnely were idiots the police didn't help, bring unmuzzled dogs out in front of the Northam incited a lot of people around me. Also don't forget the Burnley fans weren't exactly shy and retiring, one of them chucked a smoke bomb into the saints fans ffs. What i don't understand is why the police didn't cordon the away fans off and have sensible stewarding of the home fans (who were always going on the pitch). Then clear the away end to the coaches, instead of baton charging what was mainly gobby kids on the pitch
dubai_phil Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Had a txt from a mate at the game he said a Saints fan was down and not moving at all for a long time couldn't see what happened at the end. People started a pitch invasion thread that was quickly locked. Banning them is not enough, what the hell are those idiots thinking? The FL already have it in for us, start next season on minus 25 and SMS closed for 3 games. That would just about kill any consorium's cash flow planning and bury us What a sad day
saint lard Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 According to Solent the Police were in position in and around parts of the perimeter of the pitch in preperation for some form of Demo/pitch invasion, yet still Saints fans managed to get "up close and personal" with the Burnley lot. Smoke bomb was thrown and bottles also. All according to Solent i might add.
ericb Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 well take it from someone who was there, at the front of the Northam too, that the police antagonised the crowd. There were no problems until they brought the dogs out and the large majority that did go on the pitch (from the kinglsand to begin with) weren't looking for trouble. In fact many were taking photos of each other on their phones. The things thrown were as much from Burnley as Saints and the smoke bomb WAS THROWN FROM THE BURNLEY END (in case people want to blame saints). To be honest this game always had trouble all over it, and apparently there was some problems in st marys estate before the game. Shame that it happened, lets just hope there's no repercussions from the league, and no fans have been hurt
Um Bongo Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Disgusting. Getting relegated is no reason to go on the pitch anyway. To confront the away fans and start lobbing bottles/coins at them, is plain and utterly moronic. Yes, Burnley fans responded, but the bunch of knobs winding them up wasnt helping. No doubt that will be reported, and we don't even need to give the FL a reason to deduct us more points. Best part was when they ran when the dogs came back out

Scoobysaint Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 For me, the behaviour of our so called fans was even more disappointing than going down! As fans we can't dictate what goes on on the pitch but we can held responsible for our behaviour. Every fan knows we are desperately trying to find a buyer for the club and we pride ourselves on being a frinedly, family club. Any potential buyers watching the scemes after the match would realise that a small minority of our supposed fans don't even deserve a club. Absoultely shameful. They're idiots, but then every club has them (derby away in the play offs?), i just didn't want people going over the top about this and blaming it all on saints fans. There were plenty on the pitch with no bad intentions at all, including kids, families and even blind people! Saint_Jonny Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 It was the chav scum "yoof" that were inciting the burnley fans. Weston Saint Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Watched it all from Itchen Block 5. Absolutely disgraceful. Don't balme the Burnley fans, don't blame the Police, don't blame the Stewards. This was mindless home supporters. With that and the result you would think I am sad but I am not. We are nearly there and we do have a future. Things are moving fast. I am not able to say more, nor do I know the identity of either of the two parties who have proved substantial funds. Anyone remeber what happened to Leeds after their fans did something similar. FINE. We cannot afford to lose money, also how will it look to some of our potential new investors. We really have some morons at out club and then nicking stuff. Fair enough end of the season and we stay up but no, just a chance for some big men to try and give it large. Saint137 Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Provoked by the police to a certain extent, there was no sign of a pitch invasion until they marched out with the dogs. As soon as that happened there was a huge chorus of "on the pitch" and the back rows of the Kingsland and Northam emptied. No excuse for having a go at teh Burnley fans but completely expected of course. Hope the bloke being tended to by paramedics was OK - large chap in a blue and white striped polo, wasn't moving but there didn't seem to be much urgency so hopefully OK... SaintMummy Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 I'm not really sure you can blame 4 Police dogs for 'enticing' the fans really!!! Saint Fan CaM Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 I had a grandstand view and it was a significant number of Saints 'fans' who charged towards the Burnley supporters that started the problems. If they had stayed away from the away supporters it would not have kicked off. The guy that was down on the ground had it coming to him as he tried to charge through the police line and was taken down by a policeman. I think the scenes were disgraceful frankly and sickening. But the worst for me was a middle aged woman who ran from the pitch, was allowed to run all the way up the Itchen stand to the barriers just in front the boxes and hit two other women who were in the box next to us. Yes, this woman had a Saints shirt on. She was shouting, swearing and complaining about the people in the boxes not paying for ST's, whereas all the 'proper' fans had paid for their tickets. I am afraid today that womans actions and the rest of the yobs on the pitch, left a very sour taste in my mouth...witnessing THAT was far worse than relegation to league one. Disgusting. Mozz Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Agree with those above saying Saitns fans "enticed" by police isn't correct. A police perimiter being set up should not make people do something they know is wrong. Heading straight for the away fans was shocking enough, but there was then a group trying to use themselves as human battering rams to break the police cordon and get to the away fans. Those who went straight to the away fans looking for trouble should be ashamed of themselves, especially with the situation we are in at present. St Marco Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 A dark day made even darker by the idiots who did that. As for the Police inciting them ******** what a load of ****. Those muppets were always going to storm the pitch and go for the away fans, that was probably why they were there in the 1st place. So all of them gathering by the front row was not a sign of a potential pitch invasion?....The police tried to contain it. Normal people do not think "hey lets go beat up some away fans". If the police were not there it would of been miles worse. I saw some kid about 14-15 throw something which i think was coins into the Burnley end. A policeman grabbed him and dragged him off. The little kid was saying "what the **** did i do, my dad is going to **** you up" etc etc. These little ****s need banning for life. They been watching one to many Danny Dyer movies. With there being camera's all over the ground these people should be easy to find. The thing that ****es me off the most about it is that yesterday when i was out in town i spoke to a couple of Burnley fans in the pub and we had a really good chat. The guy said he was sorry to see our club in the state it was and was going to give some money to one of the bucket carriers if he saw one. I wonder what he thinks of us now.... Gorgiesaint Posted 25 April, 2009 Share Posted 25 April, 2009 Absolutely disgraceful - the pride that I had built up watching my team since the old div 2 days under Lawrie has taken a battering, but the scenes at the end today hve sucked the last bit of pride out of me. When we went into admin, I remember reading a comment from a Luton fan ona forum saying we deserved the 10 point penalty because we were a bunch of hooligans - at that time I thought it was rich coming from a Luton fan. Actually he was right & I was wrong - tonight I am ashamed to be a Saints fan. And people want to come on here trying to defend those involved with baiting the Burnley fans, what did you expect them to do, clap our mob for attacking them? That caps the season - and its not like we were trying to project a positive image so someone might put their hand in their pocket to save us....
