"On Monday I have got to ask them the question 'Do you want to play in League One?' because if they are not prepared to do that then I don't think that they can be part of the squad for next season," he said.

I personally think our squad should be on max £1000 per week. Get us promoted, nice big fat bonus waiting!!!!!

When he asks the question then the majority of the answers will be 'no' I'm afraid.

You can bet your testicles that there are many agents hurriedly trying to organize a move away from St marys....nobody wants to be associated with failure and the players will want to maximize their earnings and they won't be able to do that here.

Obviously wants to make a good impression on the new owners (should we be lucky enough to acquire some!), but he does (now) say the right things. Impressive.

Stirring indeed. But if he stays we're going to League 2.

Wotte has relegated x2 league teams in his career and never promoted one. He is pretty consistent and guess what?... he's crap as well.

At what point do we call an end to the manager merry-go-round and back someone for the long term?

When we appoint someone that is good enough to do the job.

When we have a Chairman/board that doesnt interfere and can get someone to stay here long enough.

Gray

Dodd/Gorman

Poortvliet

Wotte

Not good enough IMO.

Souness

Hoddle

Burley

Strachan

All left and were backed by the fans.

Sturrock "sacked/mutual agreement" and was backed by the fans again.

Only Branflake wasn't and there was a bloody good reason for that.

And if he averages 0.9 pts per game up to Christmas?

Stick with him. He is taking over a squad of kids, depleted of its best players that IS minus 10 points and likely to relegate to League 2 anyway. At least we'd have a decent manager to build with.

Anyway - cant see it...

If you were a seasoned professional and Saints came for you this summer with Wotte or Ince in charge would you join for Wotte?

mmmmm I know the answer.

For Ince? Maybe.

I'm quite happy that Wotte might perhaps be kept on as a coach of the juniors if he wants, but no way should he be in charge of the first team. I was not impressed with the fitness of the team, their commitment or his strategical nous. Furthermore, he knows nothing about getting us the sort of player who could do a job for us in this division.

We've had 11 managers in the last 5 years. Looks like it could soon be 12. Does continuity matter? Only if you've got Alex Ferguson I guess.

It does'nt mean we have to stick with Wotte who hasn't shown anything different to JP considering he had a few more players to use.

As I can see many of the players leaving then a clean sweep with the coaching staff would be a good idea so the club can be rebuilt starting at the foundations.

Never above Academy standard...Should never have been brought to the club with JP and has been a very big architect with Rupes of our downward spiral.

At the least he should have left with JP...showed he was a snake...AND definitely exit stage left when down....Show him the door..All this talk of sitting down with players re next season etc worries me...Get a proper football coach/manager before it is another pre-season left us behind...Investor/buyer sort it out now.

Nobody WANTS to play in League One ..... It should have been "Will you play in Div 1, and help get us back up ???? ... "

He might just as well forward a blank Team Sheet to Lowe, because, reading between the lines, he already knows he'll be in charge for next season

That's probably the finest interview I've read from Wotte since he arrived here. The guy speaks a lot of sense in it. He certainly appears to have his heart in the right place & I have no doubt he will tell the players on Monday quite straight: "Are you up for League 1? If not - then F*@k off."

If we lose today then Wotte's record over a full season would have seen us get 48/49 points which would still be relegation form!!!

He was integral to the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up that cost this Club so dearly in the first half of the season and has shown nothing in his solo stint to suggest he is the man to lead us out of the wilderness.

Throw in his ill adivsed comments which didn't endear him to the fanbase, strong snippets that the dressing room isn't all sweetness and light with him in charge, and I think it's a definite no no with regards next season.

IMHO one of our biggest problems this season was that it took too long for the Revolutionary Coaching Set Up to become accustomed to Championship Football and we simply cannot affor to have someone learning on the job again.

Sadly, I was worried that history would repeat itself with the one bit of short term success that Poortvliet achieved was following on from Wotte who had presided over the relegation and "administration" of Den Bosch!!!!

Well done Mark - even if it is his last act as manager .....!

At least by Tuesday morning we'll know WHO wants to stay and WHO wants away... If thats the case, we won't have so much prattle next season from players who " aren't happy with their situation."

'cos they will have made their own choice..to stay or go.

If your talking about when they left the level of Burley hate was quite high from the majority of fans actually, the same also celebrated Dodd and Gorman taking charge, which to be fair changed pretty quickly.

I remember quite a few fans being enthused when Poortlivet took over, and the pressure for him to leave was nowhere near the level of pressure that was being put on Burley, im pretty sure.

I agree with most that he ****ed up during the season we made the play offs, in that with the team we had we should have done better, but my thought when Burley left was; who are we going to get thats any better? And i still havent got an answer to that question, and now we are L1 -10 (if we are lucky) then i dont think ill be seeing the answer for quite a while.

Still if the Heineken Queen takes over we might get another dose of Dutch.

I'm not at all sure that Wotte won't be part of the set up next year.Depends who buys us and how much they have to spend.

I surmise that on the sporting front Wotte is currently virtually running the club on his own.

Wes i dont agree. MW realised that we need a lump of a centre forward and bullying centre backs. We just didnt have them oney to get them in.We cant play beautiful football to get out of the L1 we need brawn and a little craft

I generally back managers because I believe managerial merry go rounds serve no-one. However (although it's nothing personal towards the guy) I want Wotte gone and the whole Dutch experiment\L**e reign put to bed. There's too much baggage associated with him now + I don't think he's good enough.

The fans will rally behind a decent ambitious British manager who understands football at this level and also importantly understands the fans.

I'd back someone like Ince or Cotterill all the way, even if we had a poor season because without managerial stability we won't be going anywhere.

I backed Burley right to the bitter end and I would with the new guy, just please don't 'experiment' with us anymore, I'm sick and tired of it.

What are you talking about? A lot of the bile when Burley left was out of spite because he was leaving and it is only natural under those circumstances to feel that way, as some feel betrayed. I know he had his critics, but I bet that most would reckon him to do a better job either than Poortvliet or Wotte. Were there those who were enthused over Poortvliet's arrival, apart from idiots like Lowe? I seem to recall much being said about him being a lower league non-entity who was expected by many to fail this season. Much the same cautious pessimism greeted the appointment of Gorman and Dodd.

But your enquiry about who was out there after Burley left who could replace him and your suggestion that you are still looking, seems to suggest that the obvious candidate has gone completely under your radar.

Nigel Pearson was that man. Lowe should never have dismissed him for the incompetant Dutch duo and Pearson has already demonstrated his ability to both save a floundering team in the Fizzy pop league and how to gain promotion from the third division.
