the Dyer deal...and others....

now that we have a breathing space, and are waitinfgfor Pinnacle and their mystery buyer to tie up the deal..is anyone at the club having second thoughts about OK-ing the Dyer deal with Swansea.

I only ask because Swans seem to think they have us in a corner and want to get him ..on the cheap. This and other deals should be scrutinized so that we don't lose whatever "crown jewels " we have left and they go for a pittance.

I think the Dyer deal may be on hold due to the fact that Wigan are rumoured to be interested in acquiring the services of Roberto Martinez as their new manager should they lose Steve Bruce to Sunderland.

The way I see it though, is that Dyer doesn't want to be at Saints playing in League One, so I expect him to leave at some point this summer. Whether it's to Swansea though remains to be seen, but with new owners, we might be in a position to demand a higher transfer fee and get a better deal.

At 400k he is massively under valued. I would like him to stay but can't see him wanting to play for us next season.

I think as Bailey mentioned we are now in a much stronger position as we don't "have" to sell anyone(Surman, Lallana, Schneiderlin, Dyer etc). Thus we can demand much higher prices for them if these players want to leave and bids come in.

Personally I think Friday's announcement changed everything and had the administrators needed more time then and money to pay the wages then Dyer would be a Swansea player already.

I cannot see him leaving for 400k now.

Dyer can jog on, I dont care. McGlaggon looks a very similar type of player with just the same attributes and I wouldnt want them both in my team. Dyer is older, had developed less than we all expected and is on a good deal more money. If Dyer wants out, I say let him. Decent enough player but if he doesnt want to be a part of a new chapter is SFC's storied history then we shouldnt let him.

Any player that wants to go should be allowed to . On condition, of course, that a sensible fee is arranged which is enough for us to buy players that want to come here. We have to cut our cloth according to our means and if that means chopping and changing for the start of the season, so be it.

Not at all sad to see him leave but £400k is too cheap and should not be accepted if it's no longer a neccessity to do so.

Worth about £700k IMO.

When you consider they want to buy Anderson from Liverpool for 1million who has less experience than Dyer yet arguably wasnt as good as Dyer has been for Swansea 700k is a minimum.

Clearly Swansea have been trying to take advantage of our perilous postion but that has now changed and should they still want him then I think that they should be obliged to pay the amount which they agreed at the time of the original loan or just bugger off !

Providing the takeover comes to fruition just consider the 400k as additional transfer funds.

You can buy two or three decent players at this level for that money......given a manager who is familiar with this league !!!

Rather put the money towards signing JP Saeijs.

I think Swansea were hoping for us to hit the sh*tcart so they could get Dyer for nothing. While I don't blame them for that, I would be well chuffed if we turned round to them and added a couple of hundred thousand to the price.

Fair value - he might do okay, but if they start to struggle he seems to be the kind of character that you wouldn't want around. With McLaggon & Thompson both likely to feature strongly I'd rather have the money to spend on someone who wants to play for us than Dyer, I'm afraid

to be honest I'm surprised Swansea want him, and I say that not because of the bagge he has btu because in the game I saw him play for Swansea he didn't look like he was any better than when he played for us.

The going rate for developing young players (fixed by previous tribunals) seems to be around £600k (that's what we got for Leon Best) so in a normal market your figure of £700k ought to be about right !

I did read somewhere though that Swansea agreed to a sum of £500k if they were to buy him at the end of the loan period so worstways we should hold them to that !!

He's played about half a season for us and been, in the main, sh!te. I think 400k is a fair approximation of his worth. I really hope that him and BWP are nowhere near a Saints shirt next season, nothing to do with off-the-field stuff... but because they are both sh!te with p!ss poor attitudes.

It's time to despense with prima donnas who are not as good as they think they are and move on with some honest hard working players who are actually going to give a sh!t.

Swansea have been playing high stakes poker, trying to see who blinks first. When it looked a few days ago that we might go into liquidation, they were hoping to get Dyer for nothing. Now, because they delayed, it is us who have the strong hand, as we do not have to sell him if things go ahead with the takeover. We should play hardball with Swansea and if they really value him, then they will have to pay a fair price for him, not some knock down bargain basement sum that they think that we will be forced to accept through expedience.

Otherwise, I wouldn't be averse to seeing him go, as personally I believe that he should have been offloaded as soon as he dipped his sticky little fingers into that handbag, but otherwise we don't want players who don't want to be here.
