If we got a manager with pulling power installed at a club with a new found belief in itself then maybe we could keep\attract players that would get us out of Div 1 and still be good enough to compete in the championship. With a set of decent players we wouldn't have to overhaul, just buy in 1 or 2 key areas.

I've posted this before but Badvoc is 100% genuine on his info and if (and I stress if) what his source has said comes to full fruition then I believe we will all be smiling. However my guess is that there may be some horse trading to be done before a final agreement is arrived at so things may still be fluid. As for the Thursday at 2pm story - didn't this come from Radio Solent\South Today rather than any poster on here?
-
Yes absolutely. He'd score shed loads but I can't see him wanting to play in league 1.
-
TBF they were in a nosedive when he arrived and it's not at all easy to pull a team out of a downward spiral, just as Harry Redknapp found out here. I think he would have been well advised to have given the Newcastle job a miss, that club is in a bit of a state at the moment. Although you might not personally want him Shearer is genuine box office. He'd give the long suffering fans of this club a much needed boost.

This would have SMS rocking again. http://www.tribalfootball.com/newcastle-face-southampton-competition-shearer-240985

I never join in on the rumour mill as I don't normally have any info but Badvoc is 100% genuine on this one and if what his source has told him comes to fruition then we are all going to have big smiles on our faces. I have my fingers, arms, legs and toes crossed.

I generally back managers because I believe managerial merry go rounds serve no-one. However (although it's nothing personal towards the guy) I want Wotte gone and the whole Dutch experiment\L**e reign put to bed. There's too much baggage associated with him now + I don't think he's good enough. The fans will rally behind a decent ambitious British manager who understands football at this level and also importantly understands the fans. I'd back someone like Ince or Cotterill all the way, even if we had a poor season because without managerial stability we won't be going anywhere. I backed Burley right to the bitter end and I would with the new guy, just please don't 'experiment' with us anymore, I'm sick and tired of it.
-
Yes, I've always thought that this club was bigger than it's own management and even fans ever gave it credit for. A football club needs confidence and ambition, without it you are only going to slide down. We could have pushed on to be european contenders after 2003 but that lack of ambition came back to hurt us.

Please, I was having a good day until you mentioned the dreaded word L**e. It's history now, the bogeyman isn't coming back. I'm hopeful the club will be bought then stabilise under the guidance of a decent british manager before trying to get back to where it was. I don't mind if the new owner is not a gazillionaire - just as long as he\she cares about the club and the fans. No-one is dumb enough to invite L**e back to this club, it would be the end.
-
I'd keep DMG, I think he could be a decent player in Lg 1 with a decent Pearson like manager in charge. I think Surman will go, not sure why so many are down on him. I think he's a good player that struggled in a flimsy side. Put a couple of big bruisers alongside him and he'd shine. All IMO of course.

Good article and interesting to note that now Lowe has gone the official site appears to be willing to publish articles that are more critical of the way this club has been run. Best of luck to Matt Oakley.

How much money would we need to re-build for premiership?
Cabrone replied to NickG's topic in The Saints
Depends on how quickly you want to do it. I'd rather have a decent board who genuinely care for the club but have less cash than a cash rich trinket collector who just wants a toy. This club desperately needs to stabilize and rally behind one manager. If we had that then I'd be happy to be patient about a prem return (10 years+). -
If we do cease to be, would you back a fan founded club formed in it's wake?
Cabrone replied to Colinjb's topic in The Saints
I'd be sympathetic and interested in how they do but no, I wouldn't be a fan. Its Saints or bust. -
If Lowe life returns then it's back to my SMS boycott. I just can't see it TBH, surely no-one is bone-headed enough to buy the club and then re-employ one of the most despised figures in its history. Hypothetically though, if this was to happen I wouldn't be surprised if attendances plunged down to the 5,000 mark.

There is still a 10 point penalty in div 1 to play for and whilst there's a whiff of a chance of avoiding it the team needs to give max effort. How would you feel if next season we gained enough points for automatic promotion yet failed to make the play offs because of the -10pts? Besides which, it's about something we've been missing for too long - pride.
-
Hopefully this is the end of the downward spiral and we will get new competent owners that build SFC up for a push back up the league. If I never hear about R****t L**e ever again it won't be too soon.

League deduct 10 Points - Will apply in L1 Next Season
Cabrone replied to Danny's topic in The Saints
For the realists amongst us this was always expected. At least any buyer now knows what division we will be in next season. Frankly I'm more concerned about having a club than what division we are in. -
Only been to 2 aways this season but both were excellent (Reading + Watford). Reading wins because of the result but superb support at both. Any club that can bring that level of support in such a dire season doesn't deserve to go under.

Good bye to half time Lager and hello to strawberry buffalo-shakes in the concourse......
-
Paul Ince for me, assuming we have a club that is.
-
Article says that No 20, Jodie Schekter made most of his cash selling Buffalo milk??? from his 2,500 acre Hampshire farm. Did he take the odd visit to SMS when he wasn't down on the farm?
-
Congratulations to NP, a decent young english manager who I'm sure will go on to have a great career in the game. Even by the abysmal standards of loopy Lowe his departure has to be right up there in the all time screw up list.
-
Well the players know what they have to do against Burnley, its win or bust. At least it's a simple situation. I personally don't think that the Forest game will be the ultimate decider that many on here do as they will be clear by then. However that particular scenario could play into our hands as Forest may just coast against us. However if we don't win on Sat all of this is probably academic. .....and furthermore none of this means anything if we don't get a backer..........
-
Lowe thought he could 'skirt around it' and SFC got what was always promised. I don't for a moment believe it was malicious, incompetent and arrogant yes - but then tell me something new about the man.

I guess it's therapeutic for some, they need to get the anger out of their systems. No harm in blowing off a bit of steam on a chat forum is there?
