    Rodgers Sacked

Can't complain, he's had more than a fair crack at it and failed basically. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  2. Ummm Brendan Rogers gone, won't be buying too many more of our players for a while now...! Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  3. Considering what's gone before, I don't really want to resurrect this thread, hopefully though, the loonies have long since left, and even if they haven't, they have enough common sense to acknowledge that this is just plain wrong. Police shoot and kill a man in a wheelchair, yep honestly they did: http://news.sky.com/story/1558703/paralysed-man-in-wheelchair-shot-dead-by-police Commensurate force - honestly? 4 police officers cannot overpower a man in a wheelchair by any other means? How many shots did you hear? Yes, he may have been armed - but really - there was no other way? That's one more to add to the 861, that also met the same fate. Don't get me wrong, some may well be justified - but there has to be a better way to incapacitate a man in a wheelchair. Surely. http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database#
  4. Pretty much this. After the first half hour today we were pretty woeful really. Yes you can point to the 'if's and but's' but the bottom line is that after 90 minutes we had no points again. Whether you like it or not, there is a gulf in class between the likes of us and Utd and its highly unlikely that we will ever bridge that gap. They had 3 shots on target today and scored them all - sign of a top team. But as Charlie says - failing to beat sides like Newcastle and West Brom, will tell you where we are this season. Can see us in the relegation scrap early doors, but don't think we will go down. On the other hand - can't see us anywhere near the top ten either - so pretty much back to our mid table mediocrity I guess. In hindsight now, it's pretty lucky that we did get our asses kicked out of Europe pretty early doors - it's going to be a long hard slog in the prem.
  5. So where will we be on MOTD tonight....? Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

  7. This. We support Saints, we do not support individual players, our tribe is Southampton FC, always has been, always will be. BTW - It never ceases to amaze me how posters who rarely post, always seem to speak the most sense and bring order to this chaotic forum
  8. To be fair - he bought absolutely nothing of relevance to, what could've been, a very interesting thread. America plainly does have a problem, and one that most politicians are too afraid to confront seriously. Simply saying that 'gun control will never happen because of the constitution', is ridiculous - does civil war have to break out before somebody decides that perhaps gun control should be considered? The thread was also derailed somewhat as it tended to concentrate on high profile Police shootings (The Counted - Guardian - currently 731 Americans killed by police so far this year) http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/ng-interactive/2015/jun/01/the-counted-police-killings-us-database If 731 have been killed by Police alone, how many others have been killed by way of crime, accidents or suicides? It is bizarre that supposedly intelligent people are content for this to continue and are more than happy to defend the indefensible. Sarnia was in an ideal position to actually provide a balanced viewpoint, but lacked the intelligence to either see that, or do so. When he started ranting I actually thought he was probably a 16 - 17 year old kid, later in the thread when it transpired that he was in his 60's, it sort of became a little worrying. But from his demeanor alone, you perhaps see why people are so blinkered. As I said - the OP started a very interesting debate, as I see it America owes it to their children not to leave it until tomorrow, what they themselves, are too afraid to face today.
  9. So long as we play better than last time we met them I don't care. We were 4 - 0 down at halftime if I remember correctly....!!! Finished 3 - 4 after they took pity on us....!
  10. Couldn't have been. Impossible to hold a beer can when your wearing two ****in' massive foam hands...!
  11. Fool. The Counted. Read. The officer is 'innocent'? http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2015/may/23/cleveland-officer-not-guilty-shot-137-times-police Bye.
  12. Great resource Verbal. You would think that that one page alone would be enough to convince the most blinkered of people that reform is a must, wouldn't you. And yet it just goes on, and on, and on - the senseless killing. I've only checked out a few, but most appear to be unarmed at the time of the shooting as well. Whilst I find it absolutely abhorrent that supposedly intelligent people cannot see the destructive nature caused by their current love of weapons, I also find it immensely sad. I think I'm probably going to cease posting here for a while now. Having seen the current stats - I don't feel the need to justify my stance to Sarnia any further.
  13. Interesting article, which as you have pointed out has generated reasoned debate. I took the opportunity to lift this section in order that Sarnia could enlighten us all with his all knowing wisdom: Myth No3: Gun control won’t stop gun violence There are more than three times as many Americans killed by guns per capita than in any other wealthy country, and more than 10 times the rate in comparable larger countries such as Britain, France and Japan. Many of these countries have similar problems with crime, drugs, urban deprivation and youth violence, others are more peaceful, but there is one simple thing that countries with less gun violence have in common with each other: they have fewer guns. No one can predict the future of a more gun-constrained America with certainty, but*the evidence from dozens of comparable societies*points to a clear causal relationship between access to firearms and how often they are used. Given his current track record though, I dread to think of his response. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  14. And so that is your considered response is it? The (quite simple) point that I made (amongst many that you just failed to respond to), was that arms control here in the UK is light years ahead of America, and yet you cannot even understand that. Indeed, it would appear that one of us is mentally challenged, but I'm comfortable in the knowledge that it is not me. People are trying to engage you seriously, yet you seem incapable of composing any sort of rational reply when facts are put to you. Do you honestly think that there was something so consequential omitted from the 'cap video' that would've been grounds for 3 policemen to shoot the gentleman 8 times? And do you not also think that if this were indeed the case, that the police would be keen to show this in the video in order to justify their action? Mentally challenged, an accusation you throw around at others, as CB Fry would say, rational debate, try it sometime instead of your flippant, immature diatribe. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk
  15. Oh boy, oh boy, indeed. #1 – At no point have I ever said that the police should not be armed. In fact I am in favour of arming police, and, as has been pointed out by others, this does occur here in the UK. However, arming police is not simply a case of giving them a gun. Police officers are routinely trained in the use of self-defence techniques, issued batons, pepper sprays and Tasers. Do you not agree that perhaps the gentleman who removed his cap could have been dealt with using a little less than lethal force? Honestly. #2 – I take it from your comment then, is that you believe that anybody who lives in the ‘inner city’ is fair game. They are all criminals who deserve a much more robust and draconian level of policing to those people who live in the suburbs or rural areas. It might surprise you to know that here in Southampton we also have ‘inner city’ areas; in fact they have them in pretty much every major city in the world. Living in an inner city area / rough area or any other area that suffers from social deprivation does not give the police the right to routinely execute law abiding citizens. He removed his cap. #3 – And to repeat myself also, there is a problem in lots of inner city neighbourhoods throughout the world (ever been to Glasgow?), but that does not allow other police forces carte blanche to act as judge jury and executioner. #4 – I think it’s time you stopped the childish – ‘you don’t know nothing’ line. We are well aware that America is not like the UK – it is the very point that we are trying to get you to understand. The UK has strict gun laws and legislation that restrict the ownership, issue and use of arms and ammunition in order to have a controlled firearms system. Very few people in the UK will ever have actually come into direct contact with a firearm in their life. In contrast, America has a culture and fascination about guns, where it is routinely accepted to both own and use them – we (the UK and America) are polar opposites in our principles with regard to weapons. As you so eloquently keep pointing out ‘us Brits don’t know nothing’, but what I do know is that our stance on gun control is light years ahead of Americas. Even the President has recently pointed to the fact America needs to consider reforms – perhaps he is asking himself, ‘What is Wrong with America?’ You think.
  16. Bringing it back on topic, if you do get out of the car, don't go stealing bikes..... http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-33545655 ....ohh, they didn't steal the bikes.....! How many times did the officers shoot this highly dangerous robber, err citizen? Feel free to justify, the use of guns, policing policy or whatever else you can drum up, but would you not at least concede that America has a problem?
  17. Sarnia, go to bed mate. All you've just done is confirm what CB Fry said, you're making yourself look a complete co ck, again. Sent from my Hudl 2 using Tapatalk

  20. This. Apart from the parenthetical thought, because I don't know what parenthetical means. We are a mid table club, we flew higher last year and gave a few a fright. Wholly expect us to finish lower in the league this season, but don't think at all that the Board or Management should be lambasted for that.
  21. What planet are you on...???
  22. Sarnia, they are not laughing with you mate, they are laughing at......... Ahhhhh forget it, it's probably a step too far for you to understand anyway.
  23. What Gemmel said. Some of you are very, very sad individuals. Morgan has been quality, he deserves a move to a top club, I wish him nothing but success.
  24. Debate - you appear not to know the meaning of the word. You have totally ignored most of the facts, opinions and replies that people have taken the time present to you, in favour of pathetic childish retorts. The fact that you are supposedly a 60 year old person gives a somewhat worrying perspective to the thread to be quite honest. People have contributed in good faith, giving reasoned opinion, citing events and quotes from people that have happened as the thread has unfolded and are consistent with the original question. In the main you have ignored them or made idiotic, unreasoned and unintelligible replies. Personally, I actually think that most contributors have given up on you Sarnia, you know, they don't want to waste their time on you anymore. If you want to take that as if you have 'won' the debate, by all means do so - if it really gives you a sense of empowerment and achievement, that's good. From my POV I now have a much better idea of 'What is wrong with America'? Having now discussed it with you for some time, it would appear to be a simple case of the short sighted, bigoted and somewhat uneducated view about the effects and ramifications of their current gun laws. BTW - I noted that you didn't remark on the YT link above (http://youtu.be/M8hTfJ-oRvw) - did you watch it? Kids, you could learn something from them.
