It's a shame about Berahino. He showed so much promise a couple of years ago. Maybe he just needs a fresh start? Although there definitely seems to be a big attitude problem. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/football/2018/02/22/saido-berahino-has-not-scored-two-years-went-wrong-striker-earmarked1/

My feelings too.

Good. I'm not a massive fan but what I saw in his 8 week tenure was enough to make me feel more positive than I have for 2 years. He re-installed some team spirit and got us playing the best football we've played in two years. If he brings some stability and a few mid-table finishes I'll be happy.

Jokanovic was my choice after Puel went. If Fulham don't come up then we'd me missing a great opportunity by not approaching him.

£50m is **** all in the current climate. If we want to compete then that's the going rate. No disrespect to any other club, but the likes of Cardiff, Brighton and Huddersfield will probably spend close to that this summer.

Could the delay be something as simple as Hughes being on holiday? ... Just a thought.

Just been chatting to a mate who is a Stoke supporter. I asked him for his views of Hughes and asked if he's really hated by the Stoke fans. He had the following to say... We should have stuck with Hughes. He probably would have won more than Lambert did. Injuries to key defenders were the main problem and you can't blame the manager for that. Had we had a settled back 4 it would have been a very different story. The fans were annoyed at the money spent and what they got for that. Was that Hughes' fault or somebody else at the club making decisions??? Either way, that's not the way Saints conduct their business so he didn't feel this would be an issue for us. He'd been to a couple of Hughes' training sessions and said they were superb. Drills etc. were second to none. However he believes that he used to leave individual fitness to the players themselves, which resulted in a number of them simply not doing what they should have been, hence Lambert coming in and addressing fitness as soon as he arrived... He said that he's sure Hughes won't make that mistake again. The one thing Stoke did try to do was keep Bowden as everybody at the club seemed to rate him very highly. Probably nothing here that's going to set the world on fire but it was interesting to get the views from a Stoke fan.

If they're stalling on Hughes then I would hope it's because they're waiting to see if Jokanovic gets Fulham promoted. If he doesn't then I'd try and get him. Other than that then we should stick with Hughes. He did enough to warrant a deal.

Don’t buy this ‘Only Hughes’ option

He's probably earned the chance to prove himself but I stand by what I've been saying for the last 12 months. I'd like to see Jokanovic as manager. He's the man we should have turned to after Koeman. If Fulham don't come up then we should go for him. -
Now it’s over, how bad was Pellegrino really

He inherited a right mess that Puel left behind and wasn't the right man to put things right. -
Key things you would do next season?

Can I just remind people that we're not 100% safe yet. -
Enjoying the moment but not getting too cocky or carried away. As somebody once said "football's a funny old game".

Wow! It looks like we are staying up! :)

I'm not getting excited until 5pm on Sunday. -
We might still be yet! :-/
-
Exactly. I've got a horrible feeling about this. :-/
-
Not really what I was getting at but thanks anyway.

Just thinking back and it strikes me that we're not very good at winning matches when the pressure is on and something really depends on it. When was the last time we won a 'Must win' game?
-
After that cheating c**t at Watford handed that equaliser I said the 2 points he's cost us will probably be that 2 points that would have kept us up at the end of the season. After seeing that today I'm convinced we're destined for the drop. Nothing has gone our way this season. One step closer to a bitter sweet £2,500 to help me get over the disappointment. :-/

Jokanovic would be ideal but he's on the brink of getting Fulham promoted so he's not going to come to us now. I said at the start of the season that he should have been Puel's replacement and I stand by that. He's much more in the mould of what the club was all about, although all of that seems to have gone out of the window now.

Two games against Chelsea, which is more important?

League. If we go down we're done. If we get knocked out of the FA Cup at the semi-final stage then we've had a good cup run. -
New manager 2018-19 season thread
Sidney Fudpucker the 3rd replied to harriesss's topic in The Saints
I said we should have gone for Jokanovic before we appointed MP. I'd be more than happy to see him as our next manager. -
Totally the wrong appointment for us. A man who relies on the cheque book and very expensive short term solutions, a bit like Redknapp. I can't help but feel that they know we're going down and they see him as the man to get us back up. Let's be honest. He's probably better suited to that challenge than Pellegrino would have ever been.
-
Glad he's gone but it's too little, too late. He should have been given the boot in November. Why wait until the record said 1 win in 17? 8 games (5 away from home) is not enough to save us. I think they probably see the appointment of Hughes as the right man to get us back up at the first attempt.

Same old post match bull****. We lacked focus, blah, blah, blah. Guess what? That’s a massive part of your ****ing job. Do us all a favour and just **** off.
