  1. I'm going to answer my own question. 'Ms Creighton (Irish Minister) said there had been no discussion about corporation tax, the rate of which the Government has pledged to defend, and that the subject “wasn’t an issue on the agenda at all”.' Sounds like they were too busy discussing Britain's opt-outs. I bet it won't be long before they (Merkel & Sarkozy) start putting pressure on Ireland to toe the line on Corporation Tax.
  2. What happened about that? The Irish were dead set on not losing their low corporation tax. What does this new treaty say about corporation tax?
  3. This. Surely it is clear to everyone now that the club does have money to spend but Cortese and Adkins are very, very careful in how they spend it. They are not prepared to pay over the odds for players in terms of transfer fee or salary. Also they want to ensure the player will fit into the squad and not disrupt the team spirit we have.
  4. Just 28 years old eh Steve? Your avatar makes you look older!
  5. I'm bloody glad my mortgage will be paid off in two years time.
  6. Worried about this one, but then again I'm always worried. It will be very nearly a year to the day (Dec 11 2011) since the last home defeat in the league against Brentford.

Hands up who hates the press!
  8. I can't help feeling that the football authorities look upon Poopey as a football club with 'special needs' and so consequently will do everything they can to assist them.
  9. Interesting, I still haven't bought tickets for these two games yet.
  10. One point which often seems to be missed is this. The pensions are now to be based on average earnings as opposed to final salary. This means most workers who stay at a similar grade will end up with a similar value of pension. The ones who lose out the most will be the high flyers i.e. Head teachers. But of course these people will be earning far more and therefore be able to 'top up' their savings etc.
  11. You do have to feel sorry for the public sector. They're being asked to: Pay more into their pension Work for longer Get a smaller pension when they retire ....hold on a minute, isn't that exactly the same scenario as in the private sector?
  12. I want an iPad2 and that is what we've bought my daughter
  13. Yes we found the same price everywhere. However John Lewis do give a free 2 year warranty so we got it from there. Went for the 32Gb version as we will use it a lot for watching movies.
  14. iPad2 for my daughter this year!!! Although TBH it is more of a family present as we'll all use it (me mostly). My daughter is spoilt rotten as she's an only child and only grandchild to a Mum and Grandma who love spending money on presents. It's all too much IMO to be honest. I don't agree that a spoiling a child makes them spoilt brats (if you know what I mean), letting them get away with things on a day to day basis does. Personally I hate Xmas, a load of ****** if you ask me. The real farce is that my wife and I buy our own presents, wrap them up and open them on the day knowing full well what we've got.
  15. Yeah, the heart bleeds. Just like when they publish a story on the front page only to print a retraction buried away in the corner of page 15, weeks later. The damage is already done. I saw a quote yesterday from one person at the enquiry: "The tabloid press seems to live in a 1950s world where everyone is supposed to get married and stay married and anything that happens outside that is a story. "I think we have a tabloid press which is almost infantile in its attitude towards sex and private life." Says it all.
  16. Saturday game so some of the youngster who couldn't attend a midweek game will be there. Still don't think it will beat W Ham though. 30,076.
  17. Last season v MK Dons when Barnard ran the ball into the corner to protect the 3-2 lead. The crowd roar caused a real hairs on the back of your neck moment.
  18. I've been lucky enough to receive a couple of Club Wembley tickets for the England v Spain game next Saturday. What's it like in comparison to standard tickets, what are the concourse food outlets and restaurants like? Is it worth betting up there early and having a meal? I'm planning on driving to Rickmansworth and getting the tube into Wembley Park, did this for the JPT and it was nice and easy.
  19. I just had another look and between you and me, I got a little stiffie!
  20. Not a Saints one but I was at Crystal Palace for an athletics meeting (yes it was very dull). My mate shouted 'Come on Seb' just as Steve Cram was running round the bend, Coe was not in the race!
  21. Sorry to come across all pedantic like MLG but we have got 11 points in October, 3 wins and 2 draws. Whatever way you look at it, it's been a cracking month.
  22. I'm starting to get nervous already for this one. Just been texting my West Ham supporting nephew who says he'd be happy with a draw, as would I TBH.
  23. If he is that clever he'd be able to answer this question: 'Who is the forums most unpopular poster. Alpine or MLG?'
  24. Really looking forward to this one, most of my family are West Ham fans. Hospitality for me, can't wait.
