Lallana completes move to LFC for a fee of around £25m
a1ex2001 replied to Saint-Armstrong's topic in The Saints
From what I've read some already are and most can't work out where he will play as they think the current options are well ahead of him. It's sad it has ended like this it would have been nice to see Adam move on without the bike and vitriol but it wasn't to be fingers crossed we don't spunk the money on garbage! -
I prefer block list bear makes him much more readable, if only people wouldn't quote his inane dross. Good luck to the academy lads, the hard work starts now!
-
Look back to last summer plenty of people questioned the value of lovren it's only time that has proved him such quality, osvaldo was the one that had everyone excited and he turned out to be a muppet! Where is this obvious quality if which you speak?
-
Please tell me I missed the sacra as button?
-
I'd say jwp iis his natural successor, I think that role suits him but I'd rather he was 'blocked' a little longer!

Inclined to agree joint record fee for a teenager and 4th most expensive defender in history from a financial point of view we nailed it. Now we need to invest it.
-
You forgot to mention the fact he was an uninsured Jamaican international with a dodgy knee!

I've been advocating this for years that and the whistle blows the first time the ball goes dead after time is up and you suddenly have a fair system that doesn't encourage time wasting of stupidly annoying proportions. I can cope when there is a few minutes left of a tight game but I'd swear we see it in the first half of some premier league games when a team fancies a draw. Sadly when ever people talk about modernising the establishment runs a mile, how are we only just seeing goal line technology and the magic spray at top level when both have been available for years?

Why is Saints Academy so good at producing players?
a1ex2001 replied to blair3's topic in The Saints
Agree with this to a certain extent, we have had a great run since relegation bringing through about one top level player a year but there is no guarantee it will last, there was a time whe it looked like utd would never need to buy a player again as everyone who emerged from their youth setup was a first team player but that has dried up dramtically in recent times and they seem to be churning out medicrity these days. My other concern with our accademy is the physical stature of the players we seem really good at producing great littleuns but lack the big strong dominant players that would make a huge difference at this level. If Ward-Prowse was built like Veira we would already be talking 25m+ in the transfer market. -

A lot of luck as well, will be interesting to see if the conveyor belt keeps them comming or dries up like united's did in the 90's -
Lallana and Shaw goodbye and good luck, neither owes us a bean. Lovren, you owe us another 12 months and you can go unless the offer is totally bonkers and you hand in a transfer request.
-
Yes! I agree with everyone that it is sad to see him go but the club have no choice when players want to go they go and getting a world record transfer fee for a teenager is pretty good business. It's sad that the very cream of the academy lads will probably always move on but hopefully they will leave us financially sound and we can all enjoy the next generation and the slightly lesser players like Lallana who stick around longer. Wish people would stop mentioning the goal and assist figures for lambert they really are nothing special once you knock off those from free kicks and penalties which should be easy enough to replace.

The World Cup has revealed to the world what we already knew if we were honest great player though Adam is he is too one paced to make it to the very top of the game and certainly not a 30m player. Interesting to see what Liverpool decide now the hype has eased off. Shaw has done the reverse he looked quality when he finally got a chance and I'm sure the vultures will be circling low and in numbers!

will we see Suarez in our first match? (Answer: No.)

FIFA have the power to give him a global ban and should for 6 months but will bottle it and probably do nothing! -
Attention hoar everyone move along!
-
this isn't necessarily the case at all, what needs to happen is we replace this generation with another set of up and coming players I don't remember last summer people thinking we'd signed a future Barca player when Lovren arrived and there was a time in League one when a lot of fans thought Lallana was over rated! I don't think we will be as strong next season but I don't think we will be like a small kid in the corner being bullied because we've got no decent players at all.
-
The whole bbc line up just seems garbage, rio is a muppet Alan shearer thinks he's grant Mitchell they are all just so annoying!
-
How many of them would be content with a place on the bench at best? Every club has to have some decent honest pro's who are happy to act as backups and Yoshi fits the bill perfectly good enough not to be embarrassing if required but not so good he won't play second fiddle.
-
^ serious question who is doing the tackling or protecting our not so great back four? That team has Keegan's Newcastle writ large across it! Agree they looked well ropey at the back and we looked strong going forward so should be a perfect match up, sadly Roy won't drop Rooney or move him centrally so we will still be a round peg in a square hole. No way Suarez is fit, for me he is risking his career much like Delgado did after a similar knee op if I was a Liverpool fan I'd be worried as that 90 million quids worth of gamble!
-
Really pleased with that, hopefully it will put rumours of our immanent demise to bed there's no way he came her to oversee an asset strip. Finally some positive news in this summer or discontented rumblings!

Got to love football fans, the more I read this forum the more I'm convinced I'm wright to think the majority are idiots! It was a decent England performance and a draw would probably have been a fare result on the balance of play. Loving the 4-1 crowd counting free kicks against the crossbar and shots cleared off the line. If those count then our free kicks on the edge of the area definitely do as a miss is as good as a mile and with a little luck on another day they would have gone in then add Rooney missing when it was easier to score and we are back to evens. Get a grip people it was a decent showing and if we maintain those standards we have a good chance of going through with only Italy (one of the best sides in the world) above us in the group!
-
Well said, we won't forget it and he won't forget it who gives a damn if the media want to refer to him as a Liverpool player? Me either he's quick, direct and has a decent goalscoring record at international level. Lallana is great but doesn't have the pace or goal threat and clearly that is what Roy is looking for tonight.

Liverpool FC. Is it time to stop any further deals?
a1ex2001 replied to SaintRobbie's topic in The Saints
As long as Liverpool match the highest offer and it's above our asking price then I couldn't care less, we are not and never will be rivals. -
Are we the preverbial poison chalice for managers...
a1ex2001 replied to SOTONS EAST SIDE's topic in The Saints
Who was the last manager to leave spurs and go onto bigger things? I seriously can't think of anyone who didn't leave with a reputation in tatters! On the other hand I can list plenty who have led saints with their stock high in recent years, so no we are not a poison chalice we are a great opportunity for anyone interested which is why the board will have had alot of applicants to sift throught!
