We set up like the away team and got what we deserved really. Out fought and out thought on and off the pitch, negative tactics very reminiscent of Liverpool at home in the league, except this time the other team took their chances. Hojberg had a blip last week against West Brom but was back to being crap again today. Poor Davis had to carry him and JWP today, and Boufal is looking to be an expensive flop with each game. Fabrice Fernandes without the end product. The fans reactions to the substitutions said it all today.

Definitely, he's a good striker if he's given the service.

Anyway, back on topic, I'd happily take Alvaro Negredo as a J-Rod replacement on Boro go down.
-
Just look at the behaviour of Saints captain Adam Lallana. If someone that spent that long at Saints can behave in the way he did, then I hardly think a guy that has spent two years here is going to behave any differently once the big boys come calling.
-
Hard to see where we're going to get a goal from, especially against the improved Palace defence. Perhaps if we were to play Long AND J-Rod together we might be a bit more potent in attack, thought J-Rod worked hard yesterday but looked isolated at times.

indeed. Quite how a less deserving club keep coming up roses is beyond me.

Why is the shuttle bus to/from SMS not a free service?
bpsaint replied to Tony F's topic in The Saints
You've got it all pretty spot on to be fair. Inner city bus travel was free as part of the match ticket but was withdrawn after relegation and replaced with a discounted service on bluestar and not first bus. Pretty sure the echo ran an article a year or so ago debating why the free bus travel hadn't been reinstated as it was part of the terms of planning permission as the OP stated. -
Was hoping we'd get to play Chelsea when they had the league wrapped up and they'd take their foot off the gas. There's a very good chance they'll win the league by beating us that night, Sky will be loving that.

One of the most influential artists of all time, helped shape Rock n Roll as we know it. He'd be nowhere though if his cousin hadn't heard Marty McFly playing at the enchantment under the sea dance and given him a phone call!

I managed to watch a perfect HD stream of the Haye Bellew fight on Saturday, including all the undercard fights without a hiccup, right up until the 11th round and the exact moment Bellew sent Haye through the ropes and Haye's team threw the towel in refreshed the stream to see the celebrations

Marian Pahars for me, quite simply kept us up in 1999.

Abysmal marking again from us

**** sake Romeu

Great break there, Prowse just over hit the pass I'd say
-
Cracking counter that, great goal
-
Shocking waste of a corner there!!

Kevin Friend is having a shocker here. Zlatan will be getting a retrospective ban for that elbow. Edit:just seen the replay, Mings with a blatant stamp, he'll be getting a phone call too methinks

Glad I'm not the only one thinking that way, some of the opinions of injustice over the offside decision are borderline scouse self pity levels. Yes the lino made a big mistake and I'd like to think he'll get demoted for a few games as punishment but let's be honest here, us going 1-0 might have caused us to sit back and try to defend the lead and we could have ended up on the end of a hammering, we'll never know. What we do know though is that it wasn't the Lino that gave away a silly free kick 25 yards out for zlatan to score from, nor was it the Lino that gave Lingard all the time and space in the world to pick his spot for the second and finally it wasn't the Lino that failed to mark Zlatan and give him a free header 8 yards out for the third.

Had a horrible feeling they were going to move it to the early kick off on Saturday for policing reasons, instead we get an extra couple of hours in the pub.

Difficult to put into words how I feel after today, I'd like to say that I'm proud of how we played, of our fans, and the best team lost etc etc but at the moment I really don't care, I feel numb to the whole thing. I'm fed up of always being the bridesmaid, plucky old Southampton giving it their all but coming up short. I would rather we played absolutely awful today and won 1-0 to an own goal off a defenders arse in front of a soulless saints end than lose in the manner we did today. I left the Millenium Stadium in tears in 03, was chuffed to get promoted from the Championship in 2012 but with a twinge of disappointment at not winning the league, and now today has left me a bit apathetic . I Just want this club to actually achieve something, to write its name in history so we don't have to go on and on about 1976 and our solitary triumph in an 132 year existence and I want to be there when it happens, to tell my kids and their kids all about it. Just a bit gutted really, those plastic ****s will never appreciate it the way we would.

Looks like he's been eating a bit too much pizza since he left us. Strange comment about the Matt Le Tiss book taking pride of place in the boardroom, don't think the reporter did their research properly on that one.

Pretty sure what was Chicago Rocks is now a building site. Shame Walkabout and Hotshots are gone, great venues for watching big matches.

Christ there's a name that brings a shudder. Where are Simon Clifford and the mighty Garforth Town these days?

Sunderland are the only side I'd confidently put money on going down. Fat Sam has a habit of coming up roses, Silva has made Hull look a better side already, and Swansea are pulling away nicely. Leicester are in huge danger, Boro can't score & whilst I think Bompey should be ok they're on an horrendous run and are yet to play 4 of their relegation rivals, they could well be the team that finish 18th.

Who here wouldn't go to a match because it's Valentine's Day
bpsaint replied to The Cat's topic in The Saints
Perhaps the question should be which poor pussy whipped bloke has a Mrs that won't let him go to footy on Valentines Day?
