Cheers Tony again for keeping us informed :)

Hello guys

A brief message by request to clarify something which some people may be misunderstanding.

There is an outstanding matter with the Football League regarding a clause we are being asked to sign which affects our membership status to the league itself. Given the difference of opinion, no agreement was reach by the close of play yesterday, and consequently the exclusivity agreement expired (by date). That will be taken up again on Monday with the lawyers as the terms of the agreement to my mind have not been fulfilled - by the other side, so whether the agreement expired or not may make no difference. We have met our conditions, and will continue to do so.

The membership to the Football League is clearly a requirement to participate in the game. As I explained to a colleague yesterday, you would not buy a Pub without a liquor license, so in the same way, you would not buy a football stadium if you couldn't play a game in it. Its as simple as that.

I understand that the Football League will be reviewing the position on Monday in light of what we have discussed in private, so whilst it is perhaps easier to say, be patient, and don't "blame" the Football League nor Administrators, we all need to work together to achieve a successful outcome for all concerned. I clearly only care about one thing, putting the right people in charge of the Club. But we are all professionals and need to maintain our professionalism in order that this matter is resolved in a timely fashion - and it will be.

There are a couple of legal issues which came to light over the last couple of days - information which we were previously not aware of. I don't believe that these will be difficult to resolve, rather just a couple of issues that need to be put to bed the by lawyers.

Have a nice weekend - and don't worry, we'll have these issues out of the way very shortly.

Kind regards

Tony

I'd like to know the consortium's position on the -10 points :p

Fair play for caring enough to explain and actually treating the fans with respect. We've had a rough old ride but it's heart warming to know our potential new management our both professional and respectful. Not a lot to ask.

I truly hope all can be resolved Monday. I still won't be nice about the Football League though. Cantankerous, obstinate, hypocritical old fools!

Thanks for the update! Nice for the fans to be presented with an awareness of the situation (as much as can be made available, anyway). What a pleasant change...

I can't say my mind is totally at rest but it's thinking about finding an armchair and having a cuppa, on the back of this.

On a more surreal note, one image I can't get out of my head, with the FL when they're supposedly discussing matters, is whether they resemble the Newman & Baddiel History Today characters:

"You see that Iain Dowie?"

"I'm aware of his presence"

"That's your girlfriend that is..."

What on earth could be affecting our status in the League? Are the FA trying to bump us down to non league or something? I don't get this

THE FL are saying that for us to continue in the FL the new owners must sign a clause that pledges not to pursue an appeal over the 10 points. In other words ...blackmail.

I am grateful for TL's message - perhaps Fry may like to make a statement now because it seems some fault may lie at his door?

Perhaps there could be compromise on both sides and perhaps they would accept a 5 point deduction instead.

This would save face for the league as they still would be seen to be punishing us,us fans would be slightly happier and pinnacle would see it as a small victory over the league.

I only ask because it seems like I've missed something, do you know this for a fact?

What fault exactly do you think lies with the Administrator? Why do you think he or his company knew anything about this before Pinnacle did?

Thats my bet - conversations have taken place in private between the FL & Pinnacle - those conversations are being spoken about at the emergency FL meeting on Monday. Both sides will want to come out with a win win - compromise will be king. Well thats my take on it.

Possibly, but if it was me i wouldn't compromise if our lawyers had a water tight case. I'd fight the FL and wouldn't stop until Mawhinney was forced to resign. The ultimatem from me to the FL would be either they drop the 10 point penalty or we'll force them into an embarrassing climbdown.

Q1 Does anyone know anything for a fact? Have you got a liklier explanation?

Q2 TL's message implies fault lies away from Pinnacle. So Fry is the selling agent here - the middle man if you like, he has also publicly stated the "10 points appeal" should be successful. So what has he said to Pinnacle over the 10 points and has he lead them to think an appeal would be allowed? I don't know is the answer which is why I would like to hear his side of things. We are now out of the exclusivity period so as far as I know there are no reasons that prevent him clarifying what is increasingly becoming a confusing concern.

No, but when Mr Lynam says "...clause we are being asked to sign which affects our membership status to the league itself" I don't think that sounds like a no-appeal clause. Either we sign the clause and we're in at -10, or we don't. I might be taking him at his word but that doesn't sound like signing the clause would threaten our membership.

And despite rumours to the contrary, I can't imagine Mark Fry wants to do anything other than sell the club as quickly as possible. He's probably sick of the place. My (possibly ill-informed) opinion is that it is the Football League that have thrown the late spanner in the works

Thanks again Tony, it makes me feel better hearing from the horses mouth so to speak.

I am sure the threorists on here will continue to put forth their own theories and likely outcomes unfortunately. Some of the in depth posts on here which not only second guess what Pinnacle/Fry/The Football League will do or say regarding an issue or issues which have not been made public due to confidentiality agreements are quite frankly mind blowing !!

Maybe if we asked the FL for a licence instead of a license we might do better?! ;-)

Really appreciate Lynam taking the time to post, seriously.

Btw yesterday's Times had a few 'facts' about the deal I hadn't heard before. The say Pinnacle's deal was less than the rivals offers for initial payments, but has (greater) additional payments built in if/when we get promoted. They also listed Curbishley, Shearer and Keegan as the managers' shortlist -- no mention of Dowie, and with Keegan the cheapest.

Communication with the fans - what a breath of fresh air - long may it continue. After the latest statement makes for a better weekend and we must place our trust in these people and I'm sure they will deliver.

The problem is that at the moment pinnacle are kings of nothing, they don't own jack sh1t and are not a league member.

It looks to me as they are not prepared to continue with the purchase unless they start the season on zero points, obviously the are not going to let that happen so unless a compromise is agreed then the only options open to them is to either give up and let a rival take control(if there is one?) or take the FL to court outside of the constraints of being a league member, which could take months/years.....without a compromise from both sides pinnacle will end up losing the chance to own the club.

But hey,I'm with you I would fight them all the way if it was my money, the league are playing with peoples lives,it may not save us but it will certainly prevent other clubs fans having to go through this sh1te.

Keep up the good work Tony. Please, please, please takeover Monday, we can't take any more. Feel like I'm going mad. Just can't help feeling there is more to this than the 10 points deduction. Hope not but this is just another sorry episode in a verry sorry last 6 years. Let's just hope this is all water under the bridge Monday. If its JUST the 10 points then if it comes to the crunch, just accept it and do the deal. Us fans REALLY REALLY want you, Matty and Keegan to be here next week and beyond. The whole thing sounds fantastic and would really create a massive buzz. I know you are right to contest the FL in this matter as an appeal is what they said we are entitled to. However, PLEASE don't drop out on just that basis as we will repay you by filling the stadium every week and giving us a real chance of making the Play-Offs. Like all of us I really am cracking up but I want a club in League 1 to support next season.

Once again, keep the faith everyone and thanks Tony, Matt and others involved for everything. Saints til we die

Matthew Le God, out of interest, how did you become the conduit for TL posts, why doesn't he post direct on here or through an admin?

Tony is posting them in the huge many page takeover threads. As they may get lost in them for many people I think its better that they have their own thread. :)

I can see that now, I thought you may have had connection and for a split second I thought you were the real MLT. Cheers.

Thank yo for all your efforts tony and co from the bottom of my heart. I honestly believe that under your team we will be united once more. Good luck sir and I hope agaisnt hope that all goes well on Monday
