good news - some decent quality down left Harding/Mills/Holmes.

Our left side is excellent now. We even have more cover in the likes of White and Molly too (although i guess he may be off)

At least the left side of our team is wrapped up...now let's start on the right..

absolute fantastic news - oh what a happy clappy fan I am...sigh. Brilliant signing, and it is a signing because he could easily have moved to Scunny in the Championship but obviously our ambition, set up and contract offer were to his liking. Can I just add that he is a great prospect and anyone that saw his debut will have spotted straight away what a tenatious talented player he is. He should niot have been loaned out IMO and like James should have been given the season to progress or at least provide cover. No idea why we signed Molyneux.

Great news.

But to be fair...... the experience he gained whilst on loan has benefited him greatly.

And naturally, this will benefit us.

Loaning players out to lower league clubs makes perfect sense.

agreed but we ended up playing Molyneux and then Surman when we had Mills.

The fact that someone in authority at the club considered signing Molyneux a wise or necessary move when we already had a more talented player in Mills (both are at a similar stage in their careers) shows just how utterly clueless the management of the club was at the time .

It takes no great insight to see that 'Fish' Mills has a bright future in the game , any average fan with a pair of eyes in their head could see it to be perfectly frank - unfortunately footballing common sense was in somewhat short supply in these here parts last season .

God anyone would think we just signed Ronaldo himself!

Straw grabbing euphoria. I didn't see the Ajax game but I did see the Hearts game - keep your feet on the ground...............

Yes, and he was one of the best players in the hearts game.

Great news! Mills has a lot of talent and could prove to be a key player for us this season. He looked very useful in midfield against Hearts last weekend, and with Harding and Holmes down the left too, we have a good bit of competition on that side. Now all we need is a right-back, a centre-back, a right-midfielder and a couple of strikers. ;)

still living in the premiership then?

No idea why you are talking about the two friendlies, it took just 5 minutes of his debut to tell you everything you needed to know. Sharp, decent touch and 100% comitment. If you didn't see it then my guess is you don't have the eye to spot talent. Don't worry, give it a few years and he'll move up the leagues and then you'll have hacks telling you he's talented so you'll feel comfortable.

You are absolutely spot on with all you say here Chez.

I am very pleased (and relieved) that he has signed. I would have been gutted if he had decided to walk, as he easily could have done. I am also pleased that I didn't believe the guff that he was off to Wolves.

As others have said, our left side now looks good - Fish, Harding and Holmes, with White and Gobern in emergency (and, I guess, Molly if we are really really desperate). Now lets get a RB, RM, CB (x2), CM and Fwd (or 2 if Rasiak goes) signed up!

caught end of solent sports news earlier

....he has been training with Saints over the summer"

thought it may have been update on Murty but no-one seems to have heard it.

I have just listened again. It was AP criticising Stern John for the way he signed for Crystal Palace after training with saints for the summer - nothing to do with Murty sorry.

Is Murty still training with us? Just wonder why we haven't either signed him or released him yet?!?

He's still training with Saints and is set to feature for us tomorrow at QPR. I think he will end up signing for us, especially considering he's been playing in almost all of our pre-season fixtures, suggesting that he is in Pardew's plans.
