An interesting bit of speculation, no idea if it will turn out to be true or not...was posted on 606 (not by RocketSwannie either...)

He currently plays for Brann in Norway and is 24 years old - can play down the flanks or as a front man.

Check out this youtube vid of him...

He looks like a fit Lee Trundle :)

I like the fact all his goals in the clip came against clubs playing in blue - at least he'd have a good game vs Pompey.

Anyway, looks far too good for League One

Agree, he does look too good...but you never know? Looks exactly the type of striker we need - and Pards does have a nack of being able to get some v highly rated young players. He signed Yasin Moutawakil for Charlton a couple of seasons ago, right from under the noses of Villa and Everton.

Nothing wrong with a bit of idle speculation anyway!

Sorry. One excellent strike, then a minute of him fluffing (shots) and getting his shirt pulled, followed by another couple of goals shown 8 times from different angles.

He might be good, but that video is bizarre.

Nice hair though.

as a Norwegian i can assure you he has been very good all season. and,unfortunately-as others have pointed out- far too good for league 1.

he would be very expensive aswell.the common assumption in Norway is that he will go for about £ 3-4 million. I dont think Mr Liebherr would want to dish out that kind of money on one player until we get at least one division higher..

City were linked with him a couple of years ago. He broke through into the national side this year - not a chance he would come here. Maybe he's a year 4 player in our Five Year Plan as we challenge in the top reaches of the championship  :smt101

i thought the same thing, and his goal tally according to wikipedia isn't great: 17 in 121 for Brann, maybe he's been playing predominantly as a winger? although still he still looked good.

are the pitches in norway all artificial? they looked impossibly amazing for real grass.

Are you serious ? That kind of pace would frighten League 1 defences to death. Not likely to happen but in our current position would certainly at least be the equivalent of signing someone like Ostenstad.

he has played mostly as a right winger his entire career. only this season has he occasionally been used as a striker,or sometimes as an attacking CM...but you do have a point,he gets some stick for not scoring more often.

about one third of the pitches in the Norwegian premier division are artificial, unfortunately !

He certainly has got a few great lines in celebration. I suppose, since he doesn't score in more than every seventh game he is playing he's got time to think up new tricks all the time. The modern games Robert Rosario...

Too good to be true (probably). Why would he come here, it wouldn't improve his prospects of playing for Norway regularly and League One isn't a better league then the Norwegian Premier League. The only reason I could think of is that Marcus decided to properly splash the cash and offered him a ****load.

I'm not too sure that one player on excessive wages is that good for team spirit.

Huseklepp is THE prospect in Norwegian football at the moment. After Molde sold Mame Biram Diouf to Manchester United, Huseklepp is widely regarded as the player with most potential. Problem is, every mayor club in Europe is aware of this as well, so I think we're out of luck on this one.

Speaking of Stig Johansen - still plays at Bodø/Glimt.

There are a few other players, that might be attracted to Saints. Egil Østenstad is Director of Football at Viking Stavanger and Uwe Rösler is manager there. Given this connection with Saints, we should have a look at Tomasz Sokolowski (Polish by birth, but Norwegian citizen). Plays holding/defensive midfielder, with good passes, tackles and sometimes even a decent long shot. Is the work horse at Viking.

FFS.

You lot are so ****ing negative. Who's to say we aren't going to sign him then loan him to a Championship or Prem side until we get promoted then take him back? Eh?

FFS.

Why sign him now, if we're only going to loan him out?? Makes absolutely no sense at all, as we need to strengthen our own squad.

Your idea, is about as stupid as they come - FFS

Call me a cynic, but I think benjii is engaged in the delicate art of pl*nker-pulling.

I find it hard to believe that the level of play & competition in the Norwegian League is equivalent to, let alone higher than, that in League 1. You're talking mostly tiny clubs, from very small towns, with small followings and resources.

Just because Huseklepp has looked pretty good playing for Brann doesn't make him attractive to the likes of ManU or Arsenal, or even Reading or Boro! If he should get signed by a Prem side, which I doubt, he'd most likely immediately get loaned out to a lower division side to get some more demanding competitive experience. A CCC team might give him a try, but he would hardly walk into their side.

Now I'm not saying we will sign him, or that he'd be willing to sign for us: I have no idea or info about that. But I really don't think the notion is as absurd as some people here make out ...
