Master Bates Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Todays Echo has a story about a young Saints fan chased by Millwall fans. The nice policeman advised the kid to hide in a bush. The kid hid in the bush, after a while he then ran to St Marys church and hid in the churchyard, then eventually got a taxi and went home. Poor kiddy wink, he's now scared to attend matches. lee_saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 A tactic that Millwall used to use......hide in bushes around the Den and jump out. Surely this kid is one of our brave yoof? You don't get 'chased' for nothing.

lordswoodsaints Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 The police have improved then, when I was 12 I got a good kicking from half a dozen police for just walking down hill lane with a flag......what I would have given back then to be told to hide in a bush. The lad will probably grow up like me,no respect or no cooperation for the police.....I wish them all the ills in the world ,fookin mugs.

Pilchards Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 As a qualified martial art expert I can add that the police was correct in what they are saying, however you can also reverse what they say and take a bush around with you, Make sure the bush has a very strong centre and some fine strong edges. ;-) Seriously what is wrong with the law these days? But how did the Bill know the bush was a good hiding place? Cos that's where he goes when there's bovver on Sats.

JustMike Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 oh come on, do you really think that, with the huge clamp down on football hooliganism, they really told him to hide in a bush? Probably another one of our nice and respectful yoof, who caused some grief with the millwall lot and then got chased, i doubt he even went anywhere near the police for fear of being nicked for past crimes

Polaroid Saint Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 sound advice, the ol' 'hide in a bush' tactic. useful in many a situation in the modern world and, as Pilchards points out, a mobile bush or shrubbery is a good bit of kit for any subburban warrior to have handy. at least the OB didn't simply knock him to the ground or 'show him some stairs'. dubai_phil Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 The Echo runs a story... We ALL know MB is close to Echo sources.... MB runs a thread about nasty Millwall fans - twice.... Ergo, we all know who had to go hide in a Bush..... Also we all know MB well enough to know that it was likely not a "flora" type bush that he went and hid in..... I smell an alibi being concocted here :-)
Master Bates Posted 11 August, 2009 Author Share Posted 11 August, 2009 That other thread I apologise for, spoke to one of the people who runs Yates, she said there definitely wasn't any trouble, let alone a stabbing. This morning I spoke to the person who told me and needless to say he'll be having some very strong words with the person who said it.

RedAndWhite91 Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 It wouldn't surprise me if the kid and his mates gave it some verbal, and then got scared when they got a bit more than verbal back. It's all fun and games until someone gets chased or punched... Mind you, what were the police thinking, it's a bit stupid that, if the Millwall boys had found him and given him a hiding it would have been the old bill's fault for not protecting him even though he was in danger, and that is what their job is supposed to be. Nightmare. Rant over.

JonnyLove Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 All I can say is hearing some our our fans speaking after the game some are no better than Millwall fans. I quote some yoof stating to his mate lets get a move on and find some Millwall fan and kick his head in. I also have to say well done to some of the guys in the Northam who spent 90 minutes showing ****** and **** off signs to the Millwall fans instead of watching the game. (Now I am always up for a bit of banter but it really was the whole match) Theres me thinking we were meant to be good supporters and a club with a "family" image. Saint-Fred Posted 11 August, 2009 Share Posted 11 August, 2009 Actually the PC was following correct procedure..... I quote section 11.1.7 of the Blackstones Police Operational handbook. Section 11 GENERAL PATROL 11.1.7 Powers relating to anti-social behaviour In the event of anti-social behaviour on a large scale, protection of the public must be considered a high priority straight after your own Health and Safety, your arrest record, the persecution of motorists (see sections 1,2,5,6,7,8,14,18,21 and 22) and the length of time until your next break. You have the power to demand the member of the public be safe guarded in the following ways: *Advise the member of public to stay in his/her home. *Advise the member of public to seek a suitable refuge.(eg public toilets, Walls and shrubbery.) *Advise the member of public to lie down and play dead. If the member of the public fails to adhere to your instruction you have the power to arrest him/her for breach of the peace/and or anti-social behaviour. 11.1.7.5 Powers relating to anti-social behaviour On Patrol be aware of people acting suspiciously EG: *Hanging around public toilets *Hiding behind walls *Hiding behind shubbery These people will often make an easy arrest and will increase your arrest record if you are down for the month, with very little risk of you encountering violence. Please remember for your own Health and Safety if someone looks a bit "nuts" it is better to leave him/her to it than risk confrontation.
