I think your third sentence make this very much Saints related.....they should be docked points. End of.

I didn't think of it until you mentioned it in the match thread.

i dont know what the precident is for this, as it's never really happened in my footballing life. Well, not that i can remember, anyway,

Have teams been docked points in the past, or are we just wearing our rose-tinted glasses again?

Eyewitness Fergal O'Brien said: "I saw a West Ham fan getting punched in the face by a burly bald man who had a coin between his fists."

i must admit that i LOLd at the burly bald man bit.... then went "oh, that's not so nice" to the coin bit....

Not SAINTS related. Who gives a toss. Mods do the decent.

Where is the precedent for a points reduction to both teams.

It was'n't a league game.

Perhaps both teams being expelled from the competition would be a better option, plus of course, a nominal fine, to top up the FL's 'ailing' finances

Deduct both teams 10 points. That might stop them..... you'd like to think. Unfortunately the Football League has no sense and is probably bullied by Millwall, and will the Premier League be interested in docking someone points for an incident outside there competition? Don't think so.

The SSN reaction is a bit over the top I agree, last night they couldnt stop saying how shocking and awful it was, "overshadowing the evenings football". Was it ****.

indeed it was/is

where was the last person to die in football related violence in this country...

it wasnt in southampton was it..?

lets dock ourselves 30 points then

The trouble away from the ground is nothing to do with West Ham as a club, and the stuff on the pitch was only celebrations, you didn't see any West Ham fans going over to the Millwall fans, they mostly stayed up their end.

Tbh, if we had beaten Pompey in similar circumstances I would half expect there to be some sort of pitch invasion.

dock points from west ham (and/or millwall) for what..?

celebrating on the pitch...?

We've had pitch invasions. Sheff Utd at home, Burnley at home. Burnley at home there was actual violence on the pitch and there were no consequences for either club, whereas only about 100 West Ham fans jumping about on the pitch are getting all this coverage and media frenzy.. They'll just get life bans for those involved, a small fine and a slap on the wrist.

again...the saints fans here being appalled about trouble and wanting instant points deduction because of the troublw will do well to remember that a Man U fan died by the means of a baseball bat when in southampton...

should we retrospectively take points from ourselves..?

It is believed the violence flared between the rival supporters after an argument over who would be the first to grow opposable thumbs.

West Ham fan, Wayne Hayes, said: "They was sayin' that one of 'em already 'ad fums and could use tools and evryfin'.

"And I was like, 'you fackin' bastards, my old dad nearly 'ad fums once, you callin' me a cant?'."

Did he die?

You make a good point though. I'll bet the Southampton 'Yoof' enjoyed watching last nights trouble as it gives them something to aspire to. They are the same sort of scum as the idiots at Upton Park.

The media couldn't wait for this to happen and would have been hugely disappointed had it not kicked off. The headlines were written the day before I'd imagine.

As for docking points, do you really think the majority of those involved could care less if the clubs lost points?

Let's get our facts straight here.

This pitch invasion was DURING the game. I'm sure points deductions have followed these kind of things in the past.

Our pitch invasion V Burnley was AFTER the game - but I noticed in the programme last night a page stating that we ARE under investigation, and that whilst we wait for the outcome Southampton are working with the police to identify the main instigators of violence and slap them with banning orders.

To be fair, yeah I do.

I don't buy into the "hooligans aren't real football fans" theory. Not that I condone it, but just because they like to have the odd "chat" doesn't mean they're not passionate about supporting their team.

As I was at the game last night, perhaps I am more suited to comment??

This is a complete over reaction from the Media, they simply love the fact that two clubs who have a reputation kicked off. nothing rele happened, scuffles with old bill (who were heavy handed as always) and a few pitch invasions. There were fights outside the ground aswell, but with two consenting adults? Why is that such a crime? We are hardly talking rape and peados are we?

Also why blame the fans directly? Look at it this way, they prob are not as fortunate as some of us, or intelligent. They watch films liek Green Street and play up to an image that is glorified. It was the same principle here v Burnley, it only kicked off when the dogs came out.

He didn't die, he's just a cabbage these days.

Personally I don't see what all the fuss is about. It helped liven up a boring round of the League Cup.

what happened for the burnley game last season...

i was not here..?

Pitch invasion after the game, there where a few skates in the Burnley end and one of them threw a smoke grenade type thing at the saints fans and a few coins and bottles where lobbed back and forward. A few saints got chucked out for rowing with stewards and I think 8 fans had their pictures in the echo because the police wanted to arrest them.

Wasn't really anything bad tbh.

You forgot that the Bill inextricably bought out the dogs in front of the Northam and Kingsland with 20 minutes to go, nearly causing it to all kick off and then withdrew them by the time the final whistle went, allowing the pitch invasion to go ahead.

Forgot about that, If they didn't bother with the dogs it probably wouldn't have happened at all.

I blame their parents,

and their teachers,

and Margaret Thatcher.

Of course the guys who did it aren't to blame.

Fact.

That's right, isn't it? Thripp, Rees?
