Sam Vokes...

Mick McCarthy has said he can go out on loan. Apparent Saints fan, so could we get him in, or will Wolves think League 1 is too low. Surely be a good loan signing if not.

I saw that on SSN earlier and had the same thoughts. Certainly a better option to partner Lambert than the rest and likely to get plenty of games rather than going to a championship side as cover for their first choice strikers.

I'd like to see Vokes here but with some of the names mentioned on the SkySports article, we don't stand a chance.

Patrick Agyemang is looking more likely though. Lets wait and see what happens when the loan window re-opens.

It opened today until Nov 26th.

Ah right, wasn't aware of that. Well I wouldn't be surprised if he did join within the next couple of weeks, but as I understand it, Agyemang isn't overly keen on the move. We'll have to wait and see what happens with this one.

How about getting Surman back - on loan to start off with and then buy him back permanently??

So far he has made 1 substitute appearance for Wolves in the League and made 1 appearance in the CC Cup. His Premiership season has lasted 25 mins so far and the only way that he is likely to get injured this season is if he finds a splinter on the Wolves's substitute bench.

Rumour had it he didn't want to leave in the first place. Wouldn't it be great if he was prepared to "do a Kelvin" and forego Premiership wages and a life on the subs bench for matches with the team that he and his family have always supported??

It would be a quality signing. When I saw him at bournemouth I thought he looked by far their best player and he was only 17/18 at the time. He big and strong, pushes people out the way to get the ball. Exactly what we need.

The question is would he come here...

His heart would say yes as he support saints and I believe would have come to us if he had the choice when signing for Wolves. However we were in the Championship then. His head is probably saying to further his career he needs to go to a Championship side.

However before he makes up his own mind, Wolves would have to allow him to go to League One, and would they do that?

He would be a great loan! If we all remember he scored in 38 seconds againts us at their place! But like you guys are saying would he want to drop all the way to league 1?? Hopefully he comes tho! Maybe him and saganowski with lambert on the bench ;)

oh im glad you gave the wink at the end of that sentence, i had a fit of rage!

Maybe he just needs a little encouragement, you know, someone telling him that a move to Saints would be a good career move...

His Uncle works at the parish church of st thomas and st edmunds in Salisbury, told me once that pulling on a saints shirt would be a dream come true for Sam.

It's really down to money though' let's be honest here. He knows that he is worth more than we could pay him surely.

According to his mother and brother he did want to leave - for either a Premier or CCC team - as a Saints fan he'd like to have stayed if we'd been in the CCC

Hmm, nice one - let's pursue that angle. I'd love it if he came here, just love it. Time to call his bluff and see if he really is a Saints fan, prepared to get on board.

if youre doing a keegan impression, get your onion and hankie out:)

Anyone know if Joe Keenan is still a free agent and if he is still half decent, local lad as well.

Last thing I read or heard was that he was playing in Australia. Not the way his career once seemed destined but it may be that he has not fulfilled his potential or the expectation of him.

That's interesting, I assume you work with them both. I will have a word with mum and dad when they are back from South Africa because I am told he was told he had to go by the Administrators and those running the club at the time.

I can't quite understand the reasoning. If we are to take on quality loan signings they won't be prepared to come here and warm the bench. At the moment Conolly can't be guaranteed a game, and he's just signed. Or are we gonna bench Lambert?

In the striking department I think we are looking at possible understudies, and they won't come here as loans.

It's OK to have a christmas wishlist, but let's have an idea of what to do with them.

Indeed, we want a happy crew on board the good ship Saints, not frustrated players who expect to be in the first team and cannot get a game because of too much competition.

Priority seems to me to be with defence with Trotman still only a loan until January.
