St. Jason Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 Some blokes stood behind in the 1st half were actually berating Pardew, shouting "Pardew you w4nker"!! I questioned them and was told "will he needs to ******* change it" I then said "yea your right, 1 defeat in 14, what a w4nker Pardew is" called them all pr1cks and told them to sit down and shut up. Funny, second half they were all singing "Alan Pardew's Red & White Army" couldn't make it up. Ps. I know we are on a different planet than Tranmere but were their spoiling tactics the most frustrating thing to watch ever or what! Andy_Porter Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 Sounds like they went the wrong way about it but there where times yesterday where I thought a 4-5-1 might have been the way to go, we struggled to maintain possesion and prehaps an extra man in midfield might have helped. In the end Pardew was proved right in sticking with the 4-4-2, no manager no matter the run of form should be unquestionable however.
Glasgow_Saint Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 Sounds to me like these guys temporarily went down the wrong path of life and you helped them back to the right path. However St. Jason - you are not a steward so should not be trying to enforce the "sit down" rules - be careful going forward as impersonating a steward is illegal. Not saying pardew is god or that he is unquestionable, just saying that because we weren't winning 6-0 doesn't make him a w4nker! Tranmere were ****e, they were time wasting from the 15th minute, every throw-in, every free kick, every injury was taken at a snails pace. Every time a player went down the faked injury and the trainer came on, that was the game plan, frustrate the players, the crowd, kill the game and hope for a lucky break to snatch at least a point. The ref was poor, it was obvious to everyone in the ground what was going on except him. Saints to their credit were patient, stuck to their game and eventually ran out easy 3-0 winners. Funny, second half when tranmere were behind and chasing the game, i can't remember seeing their trainer on the pitch once! All I'm saying is, we as fans sometimes need to show the same patience as the team, get behind the lads from the ko, don't wait for a goal before we sing, sing from the of! Kingsland Red Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 I could not get our old 'season ticket' seats against Norwich and we sat in an area where Hammond and Pardew were constantly being berated and the game was 'crap'. RonManager Posted 13 December, 2009 Share Posted 13 December, 2009 I was in the Kingsland North where it all kicked off on the concourse at half-time. Anyone know what happened? It happened near me at the top of block 36. Some bloke, 40/50ish was asked to stop being generally obnoxious early on by a steward. As the steward went back down the steps he followed and carried on the argument along the lines of 'stop picking on me, what about those kids over there with their feet on the ceiling' etc etc. About 10 minutes later, about 4 stewards went up to him and the argument restarted, with him getting more and more angry before ripping off his Saints top and threatening the stewards with all sorts of violence. The last I saw was him being herded down in to the concourse. Livened up a rather tedious first half - all seemed totally pointless as if he was looking for an argument and succeeded. Didn't seemed drunk or owt though - odd.

Exactly Whitey! I'm not sure if Andy Porter is on a wind up? So, you're questioning Pardews judgement are you? And what are you basing that on? Is it because we're on such a good run, or that we're knocking in goals left, right and centre or is it because we're playing like we've not played in years? I can't tell if you're serious or not, but if this is a wind up then it's a pretty good one.

CHAPEL END CHARLIE Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 Alan Pardew has my respect and like any Saints manager he will (or specifically his team will) have my backing - but he's not infallible and I'm not about to abandon debate for fear of being depicted as 'off message' somehow . The fans you describe are clearly idiots and not representative of the vast majority , it's just your bad luck you happen to sit near them I'm afraid . I must say our current run of good form is (rather like a period of bad results) starting to bring out the worst in people on here . The authoritarian attitude certain SW posters adopt to other fans who prefer not to brag when we turn over some impoverished little club I find nauseating , the lack of historical perspective shown as we were in exactly the same position ourselves only last season is deeply embarrassing . Judging by the attitude displayed by some you'd think we were turning over wealthy Premier League opposition every week instead of humble little clubs such as Wycombe Wanderers or Torquay . It remains my view that Southampton Football Club winning a match in Division 3 should be a source of modest celebration at the time and quiet satisfaction afterwards , this site after a match however is starting to sound like Saints fans are trying to match Man Utd or Chelsea followers in the level of hubris they can display - I had hoped we were rather better than that . Crab Lungs Posted 18 December, 2009 Share Posted 18 December, 2009 Sadly, we do have a couple of dislikeable elements to our fanbase - the unintelligible cackers and a nasty little 'yoooooof' element - but thankfully no more than most clubs. I mean, rather that than the half-full shed of mockneys 17 miles east. I have to say I have reviewed my opinion on Saints fans in recent months, especially since Lowe has gone and the divide is no longer there. Things do seem to be genuinely picking up now
