Truesaint Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Agree, was gutted when we lost 3-4 to Leeds. Most enjoyed the beating of Tottenham in the FA cup. Live on telly, had money on Svenson to score first, and seeing hoddle slide down in his seat as the whole ground had a go at him, priceless! Golac's Iron Gonads Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Worst game had to be the 4-1 (maybe 4-0 as I've tried to forget it) loss at Pompey. doughnutman Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Best game: Either 3-2 against Arsenal under WGS or the 3-2 against sheffield united in 2007 although another notable game for me was the carling cup 2-0 against birmingham in 2007 under poortvliet Worst game: The burnley game last season was horrible despite fantastic efforts from the crowd but im sure there are many more to choose from but dont want to try and remember them

InvictaSaint Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Best: 4-3 v Norwich (Camara) - for the excitement if not the skill; some of the defending was Sunday League standard! Also 3-2 v Sheff Utd and 3-2 v Arsenal at the Dell. Also enjoyed 3-1 v Spurs at WHL as Hoddle was sacked the following day. 4-2 at Chelsea was fun too...(Strachan) Worst: any home game v Watford

Rasiak-9- Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 I'll have a think about this over what will be a torturous Xmas eve meal with the family but i'm suprised no-one else has thrown in the 1-0 vs Leeds in 2007 Just because it really put the final nail in their coffin as well as putting us in the driving seat to make the playoffs - I still remember it was coupled with Hull equalising against Stoke which helped us and hindered them just as much. I really hate Leeds.

positivepete Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Arsenal 3-2 last game at the Dell, but I think the game we hit the low point was actually this season away to Swindon, that was truly the worst match I have ever seen a Saints team play. We may look back at that being the start of the long climb back.

InvictaSaint Posted 24 December, 2009 Share Posted 24 December, 2009 Charlton 5-0 was in August 98, so not in this decade. Still though a good shout as one of the worst games ever. I still have nightmares of watching David Howells put on the keepers' gloves and then effectively falling over as a penalty whistled past him into the net. Not his fault, I know, as he wasn't a 'keeper, but it just made us look so......amateurish. Walking away from the ground was no fun either; Charlton fans are amongst the most aggressive, least gracious and contemptible supporters in the country. In my yellow away top I felt like a lone salmon swimming upstream against a tide of red Athletic shirts.....

Al de Man Posted 25 December, 2009 Share Posted 25 December, 2009 For the quality of the football on display, the 3-3 against Newcastle. All I remember is coming away from the ground thinking, "That's what football is all about!" I can't remember a much of the game itself, other than two attacking teams battering the hell out of each other and possibly Leandre Griffit scored. So many disappointments to pick. 2-3 Villa (H) from 2-0 up, 1-4 Skates (A), Man U relegation, 3-4 Leeds....

Hamilton Saint Posted 25 December, 2009 Share Posted 25 December, 2009 Best (that I've been able to see on TV over here) was the 4-0 home win against Spurs. We played them off the park. Worst was the 4-1 drubbing at Fratton. Not only were we soundly defeated - but it was also a tremendously demoralising event. A pivotal loss in the slide down. bpsaint Posted 25 December, 2009 Share Posted 25 December, 2009 Best: Arsenal 3-2 at the Dell, Coming back from 0-3 down to draw 3-3 against Liverpool earlier that season, beating the Skates 2-1 with the last minute Crouchy penalty, Norwich 4-3, Spurs 4-0,and as well as the 3-3 draw with Newcastle the 1-1 in the same fixture the season before was just as entertaining. Worst: a few in the relegation season of 04-05,notably Villa and Everton at home, and losing 4-1 at Fratton. 'That' loss to Tranmere, Watford 5-2.
