What news on ticket sales for the Luton match

I bought 7 yesterday for the Kingsland block nearest the Northam; the half nearest the Chapel End is not available yet,; Itchen Stand was corner flag area near the Chapel!

Seems to be a policy of fill up certain areas, then move on to next available blocks, as no real idea of overall demand it would appear.

Might lead to a surreal atmosphere maybe?

I hope we get more than that, but I suppose Luton will have to sell a few..

my mate is a season ticket holder up there, reckons they are probably going to bring 1500 - 2000, which isn't bad.

Considering it is £10 for season ticket holders would be good to get towards 18-20k If Itchen, Northam and then most of the Kingsland end up being filled wont look too bad.

I've just called the TO. Block 32 in Kingsland open at the moment, more to be opened as demand increases.[/QUOTE]

THAT is why I think it was not thought through properly. My ST is in the Kingsland, which I COULD NOT GET when I enquired a month ago

I ended up with a seat in the Itchen, but, due to the interest I forecast at the time, looks kike I'll be looking across at someone in my Kingsland seat

POOR organisation IMHO. As someone else said, it's the FA Cup FFS:D

go early on the match day (or before ,if poss)and see if you can exchange them for seats in the Kingsland (you might not get your ST seat, but at least you'll be in familiar surroundings)...it's worth asking,eh!!!

Block 31 is now open. I called at the TO this morning at 10:45 and asked when 31 would be open and was told "possibly on the morning of the match" so I bought two seats in block 32 row FF. Then when I got to my desk in Hamble I had an email from the TO at 11:33 saying block 31 had been opened so I had to drive back to the ground to swap for my usual seats.

This has all been a serious misjudgment by the TO and they have hacked off a lot of STs who would probably have gone to the game if the normal procedures had been followed. Let's hope that they will learn from this.

Yes, count me in as being really PI**ED Off at NOT being able to claim my NORMAL (ST) seat in the Kingsland

So much for buying EARLY

If I had time, I could possibly change my ticket back from the Itchen to my usual one, but there is no guarentee that I would get the same one

I AM NOT BEST PLEASED, and if anyone from Mr Cortese's Office reads this, then pass it on

From such a "Professional" Office, this has been handled very very badly IMHO:cool:

Good news, block 31 being the half way line I am sure they will sell quickly, there are definitely quite a few people who hold back on buying their tickets and wait for the kingsland to eventually open. If they are up to the half way line now expect the kingsland to almost be full in the end, and with Luton filling their section we should see 3 sides full with the chapel , corners and executives seats empty

I do sympathise, but, the fact is that a ST is for league games only. I have one in Block 37, but it's not my seat at any other times than the game numbers on the vouchers.

I agree with the comments on the Kingsland release. The majority of this stand is filled with loyal ST holders who deserve better frankly. I have bought two tickets in block 33, but would much prefer to have had the option to buy my own seat in block 30. Not happy with the manner in which the club are dealing with the stand restrictions - a policy re-think is needed please Mr Cortese.

Sorry, but that's wrong. Part of the 'deal' with ST's is the supposed benefit of having preference to 'your' seat when other games such as cup games are issued. This is not happening consistently now and I see it as a (minor) violation of the clubs original contract commitment with ST holders.

Yes, you're right. I've just dug out the Supporter Charter and it's there alright.

In that case it does need to be sorted or the Charter amended.

Don't ST holders have a priority booking period? If parts of the ground cannot be opened for 'low-attendance' matches, don't ST holders get a priority period to book elsewhere? If the whole ground were to be opened when it is uneconomical to do so, this would be financial incompetence and then we really would have grounds (excuse pun) for complaint.

I accept that this is a commercial decision for the club, but we've just received the supporters' charter which explicitly states that 'for home cup fixtures, season ticket holders will be given a priority period to claim their seat.' Apart from that, the club will have lost a sizeable number of ticket sales from regulars who would normally have attended.

ST holders do have priority but that's not much good for a low-attendance match where they cannot buy their usual seat, is it? Closing parts of the ground is a commercial necessity but closing the central Kingsland which is the best stand in the ground seems to be commercial lunacy to me.

I am fully aware of that, I know ST's are for League games only. With respect, I think you are missing my point

NORMALLY, having a ST means that you have "first refusal" for that seat for "extra" matches such as Cupmatches

When I first enquired re having my usual seat for the FA Cup match, I was told that only half the ground would be open, and was offerred a comparable one in the Itchen. OK, no problem, I purchased one

My gripe is that NOW, when the Club has finally realised that Demand far outweighs Supply, they are now opening up virtually ALL the ground, but that does not help all those that have purchased tickets in seats they do not normally sit in

Whoever made the decision for a half open Stadium nedds their head examined IMHO

They completely ignored the Support level that we have had at St Mary's, and they have completely ignored the fact that one "perk" of being a ST holder is that you can "claim" your same seat, and pay for it

What would the Northam think, IF the Club decided to close it for a match, and move them to say the Chapel, THEN, closer to the match say that they are opening the Northam after all ???

NOT MANY HAPPY NORTHAMITES, I am sure :):D

Absolutely right. There should be some kind of statement on the OS explaining why the decision was first made and now recinded by opening almost the entire ground. It certainly dilutes an advantage of owning an ST and only serves to promote the action of booking seats later rather than sooner.

I have just been to the box office and I have my "normal" seat in Kingland Centre (Block 31), so quite pleased. A steady stream of people there buying tickets. Notices still saying that the Chapel is closed for this game.
