WAG culture back at St Mary's?

Wonder what the world is comming to when a Crewe (4th division) and Saints (probably, and 3rd division) player's missus has some kind of fame potential.

F**king hillarious.

Fonte's gf did go out with Michael Essien at one point according to the article. Not that it should give her any fame.

wonder if she will attend games, even sitting in the saints section of away game? if she sits near me I'll make sure she joins in any goal celebrations ;-)

remember Cov away years ago when Le Tissier was seeing that bird off Home & Away and she was in the away end.

Dunno about Cov but they were at Anfield together in the away end once. :p

Russell Brand did a bit about her in his DVD. He was going through a Sun (I think) exclusive she'd sold to them. Very good it was too.

Cassie (in The Sun): "I didn't sleep with him on the first date."

Russell: "If we hadn't there wouldn't have been a second date. I wasn't exactly interested in her for our shared love of Sylvia Plath."

Perhaps we need to establish a proper rating system.

MLG, as you did some stats for Football Manager 2010, perhaps you could be in charge of doing the same for the WAGs? We'd need some proper categories, of course. Marks out of 20... I can see a whole new thread here... :)

More likely a website complete with its own forum to cater for such mass interest.

Someone pointed out on another thread that it should be "Wives Or Girlfiriends", which would makes them "WOGS".

That someone was wrong, the term started during the World Cup as a collective name for the group of wives and girfriends of the England squad collectively rather than the partner of any individual player.

As "the England squad" is a collective term, for something comprised of multiple entities, the term WAG is correct, because the group of players' partners did consist of both "Wives and Girlfriends".

The term "WoG" wouldnt be needed or accurate, as when referring to a particular individual player's partner it would already be known if they were a "wife" or a "girlfriend". You wouldn't call Joe Cole's missus a "wife or girfriend", she's his wife. But she's still a WAG as part of the collective group of partners of married and unmarried England players.

My Mum lives in West Wickham so wil have to look out for her next time I am up there. Good luck with the inde rock n roll shop in West Wickham High St though - average age of shoppers is 79.

It comes to something when you reach celeb status for n*bbing a footballer though.
